Technically speaking the pigback riders aren't doing impact damage on the stag knights since I believe that is only possible if the effective mass of the unit is higher than the unit getting charged and it only applies if large unit is charging into small unit. But overall the RoR performance just boils down to that insane charge bonus. If your effective MA is 55 over enemy MD you will hit the melee accuracy cap at 90% hit chance. If the enemy infantry unit does not have expert charge defense, the pigback riders will hit their accuracy cap on their charge unless the enemy has more than 68MD, which to my knowledge only applies to whip chosen. I think their most cost effective counter is peasant spearmen due to being the cheapest unit with expert charge defense, but the concept of 100 model infantry unit with 56CB is just clinically insane.
Thanks for this. I started a Kislev campaign 2 days ago and had 3 War Bear Rider battalions even out against 1 Chaos Knights of Tzeentch. Then had a bridge map (with only 1 single crossing) and my missile units just wouldn't shoot when starting on one side of the map. Later that day i had my army on the other side of that same map and everything worked. Playing a .0 patch is like beta testing these days.
Not sure if you did something to your setup, but I find that this video sounds really well. Maybe I'm only imagining it, but there's not much echo and the sound quality is very nice
Im consistently getting 100 and 200 kills with these guys, with ogre bull or maneater support they can give SO much value
So infantery it is for a while. It is what it is.
Im so over patches that meet multiplayer requests breaking the single player fun of what feels like every second game, not just total war 😂 I get that most of the time its the community suggesting something and devs implementing it and then some, or tweaking it first. But its still annoying af. We've had periods where cav or monstrous were broken for what felt like months in the past, and now it feels like we've copped another half baked patch

All the ogre units seem affected as well. I was so excited to play as golgfag, and in my firstbattle my maneaters traded with a tier 1 basic unbracedspearman unit as he charged downhill...
So the weird part about this whole thing is, when they were testing the update, did they not run into this issue instantly? Like how did they not catch this - SO BAD..

I think the game check for how many target are touched by the splash, divide damage by the number of entities hit and do those divided damage to a number of entities equal to 100:1
ok so some suggestions to fix this: half the charge bonus on piggyback knights, then add an effect that increases the charge bonus up to current when large units are close. remove that extra melee defence perk, because gnoblars riding gnoblars should not have more melee defence than chaos warriors increase their cost. that should happen even with other nerfs. remove their SILVER SHIELDS so these fellas can at least get shot by low tier archers like crossbowmen or peasant bows remove the anti large, since the charge bonus is already enough give them the mass profile of cain wraiths and add a mid-air animation of them flailing their arms about (a mid ground between nurgling level animations and no knockback) post other suggestions in comments.
So make them actually useless then 😂Jesus

You do understand that ANY unit that reaches 100 weapon strength wich includes charge bonus. Does 0 damage and has bugged attacks?
Only monsterous cav and infantry are affected, normal cav and infantry work normally
Considering that they are an ROR unit meaning you can only take one of them I think simply a large cost increase for MP would be a good move in balancing them. They're not going to be carrying games and CA has a habit of over-nerfing units which I'd like to see them avoid in this case. Make the cost something like 750, 50% increase of what they are now and halve their charge bonus perhaps.

Yeah, they are quite a bit overtuned, but they are still just a RoR unit, you only get 1, maybe removing stats and adding them to the synchronization could make them good in alpha strikes, but the moment they hit 50%, they crumble. And it is quite funny to think about that a possible reason for not making the falling down animation could be to hard to make when they did the atrocity that is the floaty mangle squigs.

There’s also a bug you can’t drag armies into groups already made. Which is A LITTLE frustrating 😢😢 I’ve been needing to unmake groups then remake them to add them to it

Yes the bug hits the units themselves so it's in both mp and campaign.

Pigback riders have 100 MA after a charge, buffing your test units defence won't be effective when MA is pumped so high. The actual counter to these units would be a high model count & low cost infantry @@TequilaSunsetVids

Did kadai and bear riders have splash attacks before the update? Maybe the problem is caused by units that aren't designed to do splash attacks trying to do splash attacks.

To me, it just looks like the Fireborn and Chaos Warriors are fighting without any bonus VS infantry applied. The charge bonus is, but the rest of the fight proceeds as if it was just their regular statlines. But perhaps it's some or all of what you say as well, considering there's many more units in the Chaos Warrior unit. However, again, each Fireborn model has more HP...
And in the second example it looks like the War Bears have no bonus VS large.
And here I just started a Gelt wizard army, with 200% spell mastery. Blowing up everything in my wake like I'm still in Estalia.
Someone should loose job after giving us that update after new factions like ogres…
