With halberd demis as an option, I'm not sure why the Empire player opted for two halberds. There's nothing the CD roster will bring which anti-large infantry would outperform or even perform on par with anti-large heavy cav. You'd be fighting bale taurus, Skullcracker/Iron Daemon, Bull Centaurs, or Kdaii Fireborn. All of those either have agency to choose not to fight on halberds, can just push through them, or trade better into anti-large infantry rather than anti-large heavy cav. Maybe cut the halberds and skirmish calv, and get some demis, or swap out gelt for Toddy + caster. If he had a fighter lord or anti-large calv to immediately respond to diving threats, the cannon and luminark should be more than enough to take out enemy artillery/large targets.
Love some cd play that isnt just goon squads. Seeing this game, part of me wonders how a blunderbus feontline backed up by blasting charges would do. They seem pretty good at shooting straight into melee and blasting charges can clear any chaff not worth shooting while being a reserve to fall back through when large units come a calling. Fun games, good casts!
I've experimented with it, but the issue is that it takes a while for any chaff to run off even after taking a blasting charge so the blunderbusses lose line of sight for a long time. And blasting charge units are so expensive that you can't feasibly afford more than two. It might work better on regular dwarves since the grudgerakers and miners combo is cheaper and covers more ground.

Ive been able to get about 3 bcs into my chaos dwarf armies, but as you say I think it would be more of a novelty than a reasonable strategy. Need to explore the lores of magic they have, but maybe you could raise stats using them instead of having to reatreat out
@@shetlandapache949 Doom and darkness synergizes great with blunderbuss burst damage. Damage itself tanks leadership and if you throw a bull character in there it will rout most things.

Cause any self respecting dwarf player is too ashamed to use dawi when they are as overpowered as we are currently experiencing, so cd is the most logical next option would be my guess
