I wasn't aware of the no sleep mode thing, so that's why it wasn't included in this video. I know overall it's not as good as other flash carts, but I keep finding out more and more bad things about it as people comment on this video. The thickness I just figured is normal with after market carts, I have several bootlegs that are like that and some other after market carts on other systems as well. Thank you for the comment and for pointing out even more bad things about this cart.

I am glad you shared some more info, that's a train wreck and it's bound to slip someone up in the future. Thanks for the info! Back when I first ordered this cart, there was literally no video about it on TH-cam so I figured I would try to be the first (that failed pretty quickly). During that time I talked with others on the DS(i) Homebrew Discord server to see if they had any useful info on it. They're the people who informed me of several of these issues early on, and I knew I would have to cover them in this video. I didn't mind buying a not great product to see if it had any value at all and to warn people since I will mostly still use Twilight Menu on my DSi to play games lol. Far better compatibility than this thing, and less of a chance of a random brick. Thank you for the comment and I hope you enjoyed the video ^_^

RF is quite something lol.

I remember trying PAL PS2 games in the 2010s, and they were also in black and white. I remember later that when I tried them over AV instead of RF, the picture was in color.

Glad I could bring back that memory! I was hoping to being up memories and experiences like that one with his video, because while we all think back on those days with everything being great, there were absolutely imperfections like this. It really was a product of growing up with analog technology!

I'm sure third party connectors were more prone to breaking than first party lol. I remember how many MadCatz products I had as a kid, and they would generally always break. You can't beat first party products until enthusiasts make new products for a then retro console.

That's all you need as a kid. You may not have the best setup with all the best tech, but playing the game and it being fun was enough. Just doing your best to enjoy what you had, I tried to capture that with this video!

The RF adapter was a product sold on its own, not included with the console. They also happened to repackage the same RF adapter for the GameCube when that came out. You only got it if your TV did not have the composite inputs.

I wouldn't want to go back to RF for everything, but I'm so glad I got to experience it as a kid! I remember learning what the red cable was for on AV cables by just experimenting with plugging things in, and that was so cool as a kid.

Oh for sure, I make sure to play the majority of my retro games on a CRT. My CRT is the one in this video, so small (13 inches) and RF only. I generally use a VCR to connect composite to it. Old games look beautiful, even on my really bad CRT from the 90s.

That actually sounds super annoying, but not enough of an issue to replace the entire TV over right away.

I figured that some people would have very bad video connections back then, I remember using RF for every console without HDMI until 2017, and while it looked fine a lot of the time, there were definitely times it looked terrible as well. This was purposefully made to look bad by manipulating the cable while playing, but only in a realistic way that some kid may have encountered themselves over the years.

his cables are loose or something for sure, i remember this well but if you jiggled them it would clear up.

@@CkGamingxx14 yeah, it's exaggerated for the effect, hence why the video mentions a bad video connection. I'm sure there were people who didn't know any better as a kid and played like this, but generally making the cables tighter or replacing them would make it look better. You still wouldn't make it look great, but RF is like that lol.

It was only for Wii U in the US, because Nintendo of America had already shut down Wii publishing by the time he asked. He was able to squeeze it through Nintendo of Europe before they completely shut down Wii publishing though, which is why it's a PAL only release.

Those copies also happen to be late releases on those consoles as well, so I ended up getting them ^_^

Thankfully it's not that well known, so despite there only being 3000 copies in the world it's not that expensive on eBay the last I checked.

Thank you so much! I've been getting smaller creators recommended to me lately as well and I love it. I'm still getting used to the recording and editing software after so long of not using it, so I'm trying to see what works lol. Gonna try and make each video I create an improvement over the last!

I did notice that Shenmue 2 had a 60hz mode, and when I looked into it like 95% of PAL Dreamcast games did. I was worried that game would display in black and white on my TV.

Yeah, these aren't super well known and a lot of the reviews on the Amazon page even claim that they're bootleg copies. It's really uncommon for these to be talked about, even though they're very common copies of the games these days.

I wish I had known of these back then, that's an amazing deal!

I'm using the Hyperkin HDMI cables. Highly recommend them, I have one for SNES/GameCube/N64, for PS1/PS2, and for Dreamcast. Their products are all super high quality and the HDMI cables are around $30 each.

@@NottJoeyOfficial ah crap, the damn hyperkin, I've had one for the ps1/ ps2 but it only lasted 6 months. The nicest adapter I have is from behrbros. Love that stuff. Just bought a mcbazel ( the ability to change the size and definition has me interested) and a bitfunx ps1/ps2. The bitfunx works good, but I really love the mcbazel. If either die maybe I'll grab another hyperkin, maybe I got a bad one. The og xbox one I have still works great. Thank you for your time and keep up the great work.

Sadly I don't think Sony would allow that, they were very strict on what was required to keep printing these games. Companies needed the original files for art that were approved back in the 90s or early 2000s and they could not change the art files. It seems SE were the only ones that could provide that or were the only ones willing. I do wonder how hard it would be to press a reproduction that would work on an actual PS1 without mods though, and how legal that would be. It's much harder to do that with discs than it is with cartridges.

@@bootmii98 yeah, I don't think legality would be the huge issue though, I think the biggest issue would be getting a game to boot on an unmodified console. The only disc based consoles I know of that that would be possible on are the Dreamcast and PS2 Slim (not fat).

I saw he stopped with the news recently. In any case, I'll make sure to always watch his content because I've been watching him for well over a decade at this point.

Yeah, the game calls on Japanese fonts stored on the system, but because this is a US system it doesn't have the proper fonts. If you boot the game on USB Loader GX there is a way to patch the fonts in and the game displays all text properly. It all depends on if the game has fonts built in or if it calls on system fonts.
