GR8 Finds
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 2 ส.ค. 2021
My name is Mike and I have a passion for the outdoors and exploring. I like to make new discoveries & one way I do that is by metal detecting. I film and document myself while I am detecting or even just hiking in the woods. I like to think of the ground as a book waiting for people to open it up and start reading. Everything has a story just waiting to be read. Find your passion today and get out there and do it! I appreciate you watching and joining me as I uncover history and the mysteries that are out there to be told. Here is my email contact: mjh865agm@gmail.com

Absolutely awesome 👌 congrats on your finds
Find out who was there the day before an give it back
Nice honkin ring!
Hey 👋🏼 Mike and son ❤❤
You are one great detector. I’ve enjoyed your channel from the start. It will quickly grow and I’ll continue to follow you. You sure you don’t have the luck of the Irish as well? Lol.
@@janwarriner6554 lol. Thanks for the kind words. I think its a lot of luck. I think this ring got washed out of the bank. We had a week of rain from the remnants of hurricane Helen. Right above where we found the ring, there was an area that had been flooded and washed Down toward the creek. Have a great week. 😊
Nice ring congratulations Mike , and hello to Michael I saw him waving . Great to see him out with you , I brought my kids and grand kids up teaching them how to detect they love it.
@@rickyb2200 thank you. Glad you also get the kids out there and detect. Have a nice week. 😊
study your local history about civil war battles nearby, troop movements. thatspot needs to be checked agaid with metal detector and the hole area nearby and the river. nicefinds. youcan clean the meta parts with electrolysis and replace the wooden stock from modern enfield replicas muskets.
@@giannispap16 thank you!! I do plan getting back in the spring time. Have a nice weekend.
AP- pre gen shape charge. would have partially influenced the RPG-7. Very cool find, man. My family in Gettysburg still find grapeshot and small cannon ordinace from time to time. Its nice to add to the collection. If you dont wish to preserve the OG integrity theres a company that makes them sort of bespoke and stain them to color them with chemical treatment. If you're wanting to make it a centerpiece it might privy your fancy. Awesome find big dog.
@@djskin13 thanks for sharing this info. I have found 2 artillery shells while metal detecting near Gettysburg. Been fortunate the landowners allow me to do that. Don't surprise me you still are finding stuff over there. Pretty cool. Have a nice weekend
Great find guys.
Hi Jimmy. Thanks Buddy
Nice man!
Thanks Ron!!!!
NNIICCEE find 😊❤
Hi Paula. Thanks
Nice find! I saw a lot of similar silver and turquoise rings for sale in the artisian shops in New Mexico and Arizona several years ago.
Thanks Richard!!!!! I think this one got washed out of the ground at the top of the creek bank. We had a week full of rain and water had been rushing down here. The ring was just laying under the leaves. Its an older one since its marked sterling instead of .925
Awesome!!!
@@PAPAROUSwhatsinthedirt thanks Bill
Might have been attacked by a Bigfoot lol , or some kind of wild animal. It looks like he dropped everything and got the heck out of Dodge.
Thanks Mark. I am finding out that the confederates was overtaking them right in this area and the story is they had ditched their stuff to retreat quickly. Less weight.
theres coins around that are also
Agree. there has to be. In the spring I am heading back.
Amazing finds.
Hi Dorothy. Thank you
Great hunt
Hi Jeff. Thanks!!!
Grandpa's war souvenir. He died, the family didn't want it or even know what it is.
@@benjurqunov yes. Thanks for watching
so someone stole it
Someone brought it in to scrap it for money. Probably was an item someone's grandpa brought back from war.
Man o man Mr Mike, thats absolutely amazing!!!! Congratulations
Thank you very much!
That will look good in your collection 😍
@@johnnyphillips9735 thanks Johnny
Wow what a great day
Thank you!!
Awesome find
@@StoriesFromTheSignal thanks Patrick. The workers seen a guy bring in a whole bucket of civil war bullets for lead. They of course kept those.
That’s cool Mike!
Thanks Greg!
Treasure Eyes always looking . Good Job, 👍
Yes!! thank you David
After 160 years of sitting in the elements. Who knows what has happened. The weather. Cold and hot. Rain and snow, ice and you found it. Good find and it is part of Americas History.
Thanks John. It is really interesting to think about everything that changed in the world as the stuff just laid there. The story had ended but then 160 yrs later I added to its history and saved what was left of it. Really appreciate ya John and you really made me think about this.
@@gr8finds196 John is my last name. Vance is my first. I delt with that since grade school.
That is so cool
Thanks Sheldon. Was glad to save it from being destroyed in the scrap pile.
awsome find, that lead piece is a sounder.ya might of found a stash that was dry when that stuff was put there.lolol epic is an understatement lol we rarely find what we seek but whatever we find is worth a peek.
Thank you!! You may be correct. Usually when I find the lead civil war bullets in water they retain their gray color. These had a white tint to them along with the gray color. At one time they may had been in the river bank and with flooding and erosion they fell into the water. When I find the lead bullets on dry land they turn a white patina from a reaction of the lead and being in the ground a long long time. These I found was kind of gray and had a hint of white.
Great day!
Thank you Emory. Appreciate you watching.
boom let's go let's go treasure and adventure✌👵
@@grandmakellymcdonald hi Kelly. Thank you. Go get that treasure.
Great finds, Mike! ❤LL
Thanks 👍 keep diggin!!
Great eye and nice find! Thanks for sharing, Mike.
Thanks Tom!!!!!
Awesome video, Mike
Thanks Keep diggin
Incredible! ❤🇺🇸❤️👏👏
Hi Jan. Thanks!!!
Wow that is quite the set of finds. The bayonet is there somewhere. I think the Case Old Timer pocket knife is likely newer.
Thank you!! The bayonet has to be. Not giving up!! I had the knife looked at in Gettysburg by a friend that deals in civil war stuff for a living. Looked at it with a loop magnification. The handle is bone and in his opinion its war era. He thinks it was in the small pouch pocket in the cartridge box. When the leather rotted away over the years it laid there with all the bullets. But who knows. the blade is totally gone. have a nice weekend, MIKE
@@gr8finds196 Is the knife made by Case? It is certainly like one, I collect knives and have one with the inlaid cartouche and jigged bone scales. US Civil War April 12, 1861 - April 9, 1865. W.R. Case & Sons Company - built with integrity for people of integrity. Our knives are held to the highest standards by the people of Bradford, PA since 1889.
That's a nice pick Mike
Thanks EZ!! Was actually surprised to see that. The workers said they had one guy bring in a bucket of civil war lead bullets!! Of course they kept those. lol
@@gr8finds196 bit of course
Incredible find!
Thank you!!!!!!!
i work at a scrapyard in york county as the brass/copper guy, we get some odd and crazy stuff in
@@homersreluctantodyssey2508 oh man. I would love seeing what all comes in. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice evening
That kinda looks like a large bullet, that's like really cool! 🤯🫵
@@ZoeFavers thanks Zoe. Yes it is like a big bullet. It was designed to Penetrate through Armour. Like a tank.
That’s amazing! ❤
@@keepdigginmetaldetecting thank you!!!!
Hell yeah
@@nickvincent9645 thanks Nick
So cool! Thanks for recognizing it and preserving history! Please just make sure Chigg looks it over makes sure that it is disarmed properly.
@@AnthonyKendrick-pn2bc thank you. He already has. It's just a solid piece of steel. Would of had a tracer in the base. That had a small charge in it and left a trail of sparks in the sky to see it.
Great find.
@@jimmymalone3494 thanks Jimmy
First look at the pocket knife and it looks like a "Charles Ibbotson" or a Barlow. Made of Sheffield steel, I have a late 1800's "Slash" by Charles Ibbotson.
Thanks Paul for info. Had a friend in Gettysburg that collects civil war items look at it. He said the handle is made from bone. We think it was in the soldiers cartridge box. there was a small pocket in the front of those and more than likely it was in there. I wish some of leather was still there. Couldn't find any of it in the water. Probably rotted away. Have a nice week Paul.
In a stream for 150 years+ and there's still wood ?
Thanks for watching. Not much left. The butt stock wood is gone. My theory is the barrel protected the forearm wood but since the butt stock wasn't it rotted away. The wood that is left is hard as rock now. Almost like its petrified.
I just got the Garrett at pro. I'm trying to learn how to use it. What are the preferred metal detectors
@@thomasmeadows256 thanks for watching. The AT pro Is a great machine to start with. I have used it also. I decided later on to buy the minelab equinox 800. I currently use it mostly. I am interested though in the new Garrett vortex machine they are getting ready to come out with. Good luck with the AT pro. I know many people that use it all the time. I suggest looking up videos on youtube on how to use it. My friend Aquachigger should have some older videos of him using that machine. Have a nice weekend Thomas, Mike
Sadly that fella likely died right there.
Thanks for watching. Yeah, it is very possible. I plan to do some exploring more along the bank in the winter. Hoping that will lead to more of the story and the actions here. have a nice week, MIKE
That's really amazing!! Great vid!
@@PartridgeFamilyProspecting thank you!!!!!!!
Wow. Congrats! Once in a lifetime find.
@@dgermain3555 thank you. Have a nice weekend.
Amazing find . Did you check to see if the rifle is loaded ? He may have only shot one round and the other is still in the gun.
Thank you. I can not tell if it is. Sadly the barrel is completely rusted closed. have a nice week, Mike
