Today I was joined by my friends Jill & Raymond to explore a river where some civil war activity happened. I was able to find a nice piece of silver that was lost many years ago.
Some of the ones called ironclads would have something like that piece monted from underneith pointed at a slight upward angle reacing out a good 10 to 15 feet sometimes more. It was like an underwater torpedo that would get rammed into the sides of the enemy vessel. I don't have my books anymore on the size of the charge or how it would ignite. But if you found that there must be other parts close by, unless they discarded it to get away quicker. But darn good find!!!
You said this was in Maryland. Do you get permission to hunt these waters or do you just chance it? Im curious because I live in Washington County Maryland and the rules are pretty strict 👍
I have never had any issues. Had an officer ask me once what I am looking for. I said anything I can find. Then asked me if I tried magnet fishing. I talked to them a while and then he went on his way. Washington county might be different.

Plus this location was actually on private land. they own so far out into the water.
