    This is cool asf. Please don't stop your pursuit of the epic and fascinating world of fantasy world building. Love the realism mixed with the weird. Creepy in the best way possible. Also, make a dnd or pathfinder book some day. I'm sure there'd be an audience for it!

    I've always thought about the perspective of whales/dolphins on killer whales. Imagine living with the knowledge that there are predators out there that look so similar and posses the same level of intelligence as you.

      @@braam7939 Even today there are people who eat basically only meat. For example the Inuit diet is 90% meat. And they are the same species as other humans, so no special evolution is needed to become carnivorous, because.... we have always been carnivorous, its the advent of agriculture that is the evolution (or maybe the involution) in our diet.

    Like a lanky rajang without horns and less muscle, I wonder if some might have developed partnerships with other beasts like ravens and wolves.

    Anyways, humans would probably live in competition with these things cause we embody the same spirit through a comparably inept physiology. Being essentially colonial apes.

    The problem with creating a physically hunting hominid in any setting is always gonna be that every hominid has high mechanical intelligence and is prone to tool usage regardless of anatomy. I'd typically start with something more like a baboon to avoid the near inevitable evolutionary pit of snowballing tool complexity that ends in humans being wizards. Going a different direction though, if the giants had similar agility to these things, as well as high tool usage, they could become equally mentally and physically dangerous and turn into super predators akin to dragons. Something mirroring the Yautja (predators) of comics.

    i notice you use the word ‘hell’ and other christian origin words in your naming schemes, does christianity exist in this world? and if so, how differently has it manifested compared to our world?

    • @sawyerleeart
      @sawyerleeart 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good eye! Christianity itself isn’t present in the setting, but I use words like “hell, cathedral, pope, bishop etc” to convey in world equivalents that the dragons would be named after. Having been raised in that religion I find using those words holds more weight for me personally. Imagine these names as a translation of the original tongue!

    Cool. I did something similar for my homebrew but focused more on the Gods than on Dragons. Also a lot of work went into understanding the nature of magic. In my world Humans, Orcs and Elves all evolved from a common Hominid Ancestor. The Elves were those that fled to the lands of the Fae to avoid a devastation, while the Orcs made a pact with a Bestial Spirit and were infused with hardiness and rage. Vanilla humans were the rest of humanity and survived in part by hiding, part by breeding profusely and part by being captured and enslaved by an assortment of other peoples. Dragons were more tied into the nature of magic than simply being predators and there are not different colors or metals of dragons, each dragon is unique and its nature determined by its diet, environment and magical influences surrounding it.

    I love this idea that humans started out as almost eusocial organisms, and from there have developed strategies to defend themselves against dragons. I'm a fan of the pepperman

    This is a very interesting concept, which means that there are no large dragons in these areas in the first place.
