Kayak Fishing the Yellow River Milton Florida
มุมมอง 372หลายเดือนก่อน
Ventured out into some new waters down the yellow river just looking for a bite. The channel itself was challenging and the water levels were higher than normal. A lot of gar were rolling on the surface and I also spotted a 4ft gator. It took me a bit, but I did manage to find redfish on the flats once I got out of the channel.
Blackfin Tuna Kayak Fishing With My Son in Navarre Florida

One of the most memorable trips with my son. The conditions were near perfect and we took the opportunity to get offshore to chase blackfin tuna. He's been on 50 inshore trips on my kayak so I felt very comfortable taking him offshore. There were a few challenges, but we overcame them and conquered in the end. I'm very proud of my son and this is one we'll both never forget. Rod: 7'6" Bull Bay ...

Nice day on the bridge! Good fish man! 🤙🏼
Thanks bro! I'll take days like this any day.
Great job Omar! 👍👌
Thanks Joe!
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching!
"Action is action." Great stuff, and never complaining about a fight with those big uglies.
Hey Omar, do you ever go off shore this time of year ( Nov.-Jan.) for Blackfin Tuna? That would make for another awesome video!
@@hunter-c6739 yes, if conditions are good and it lines up with my schedule. I got out there last week and didn’t find any tuna. I did manage to catch two short red grouper and a small red snapper. Conditions were not great. My camera angle was jacked up so I don’t have good video of that trip.
@@oafishing Seems like the guys I have been watching are in 50-60 ft of water out by the peer.
Pre dawn launches!
I guess you’re a real fisherman if you’re fishing when it’s this cold good job. See you next time.
@@ChipHigh-u7n Thanks for the support! Fishing is life and I try to not let the elements stop me.
The white trout are stacked up in Cinco Bayou right now as well.
@@FWBNation Thanks! All of the years I have lived here and have yet to venture over there. I might have to make a trip and get in on that action.
White trout on a light rod are a blast when they're schooled up!
@@xRamZx I bet! I need a micro rod for days like this lol
@oafishing I never catch anything big so I'm always throwing my light stuff 😅
@@xRamZx One of these days you're gonna hook something big on a light setup and its gonna be the best fight ever lol
Always appreciate the videos. Sorry I’m a little late to commenting on the video, but anywhere you recommend fishing around this time of the year? Been looking to get back on the kayak but I’ve just been stumped on where to go and what to fish for.
I’ll mention that I am in the Niceville/Destin area
I appreciate the support! Winter fishing can be challenging and I'm always trying to figure out where to fish. I know redfish will still come up on the flats but they are tough with the super clear shallow water. The trout tend to be at the creek mouths and up the channels. Sheepshead will be at the bridges and docks. Black drum are always at the bridges and will eat live and/or frozen shrimp. Just trying to provide info on species to determine what you want to target. Shoot me a message on instagram @oa_fishing_ and I can provide a bit more info.
I miss catching sheepshead. We get a very limited run out here in South TX, not enough deep water. I catch them on the flats out here vice deeper water. Nice sheepshead and another awesome video buddy, nice job!
Thanks bro! We do get plenty around here. I wish our redfish were as abundant as y'all's.
Rocky Bayou?
Boggy
It was nice to meet you that day before you went out. Looks like you had a pretty good trip.
Likewise! Turned out to be a solid trip even though i had to cut it short. Hoping to get back out there soon.
Great job Omar! Keep it up. 💪
Thanks Joe I'll keep at it! I see you've been tearing them up, hoping to see you on the water soon.
@@oafishinglooking forward to seeing you. All. The best. Happy. New Year!

@@timberwolfe338 thank you! It’s an unforgettable trip!
Nice. I'm East of the 331 Bridge. Where do you normally put in the bay? Do you do much bay fishing in the winter?
@@FloridaOutdoors850 I fish over by 331 every now and then and launch out of Thomas Pilcher Park. The main spot I launch out to fish the bay is white point over by Midbay bridge. If you download the GoPaddling app it will show you all of the kayak launch spot and boat ramps. I try and do as much winter fishing as I can. I mainly target trout, redfish, and sheepshead.
@oafishing Thanks man. Good to see someone locally posting videos. Keep up the good work.
Keep up the great work OA!

Great video. Merry Christmas Bro.
@@hunter-c6739 Thanks bro! Merry Christmas!
Nice fish! Where do buy fiddler crabs around here?
@@trentonmiller4741 thank you! I picked these up at Niceville Bait and Tackle. A few other options are Emerald Coast Bait and Tackle in Fort Walton, Half Hitch in Destin, and Bay Baits in Freeport. I know there are a few other shops around but these are my go-to bait stores. I also like to call ahead of time to see if they have any on hand before I make the drive.
You’re a brave soul barehanding that treble!
My googan confidence is just too high lol
that was awesome, i have a 13x13 inch yakattack blackpak pro my son sits on behind me in my hobie works out pretty well, then you can put the fish bag on the front of the yak
Thank you! That's pretty awesome. I like to keep him up front so I can keep an eye on him. I did buy a larger cooler bag to ease the struggle of bagging a fish. On solo trips my cooler bag stays up front. I have also thought about upgrading my milk crate to one of those blackpaks, might do so in the near future.
It's been years since I've fished Yellow River. I need to make a trip back over there soon.
You do! I definitely plan on going back.
Where did you launch from?
Brown's Fish Camp
Another great adventure! That spot looks awesome, I've been wanting to hit up some rivers. Thanx for the upload!
Thanks bro! Some of these rivers is where it's at. I'm thinking blackwater next.
Sweet dude! Glad you made it out there and got some fish. 🤙🏼
Thanks man! Can't wait to get back out there.
Great video man. Gotta love those brackish water trips!
Thank you! Brackish is my favorite type of water to fish, best of both worlds.
Gr8 job both of ya!
Thank you!
Thx
Saw you guys launch next to us. So awesome to see you guys landed a nice one!
Thank you! We're both glad we were able to experience this!
Good man!!
Thank you!
I know you people in kayaks love to do this but,as an unlimited Coast Guard unlimited merchant marine certificate holder we never recommend anyone putting out to sea any small vessels. I have seen unforcasted invisible dry fronts come through that increase wave height to 8 feet or more in about 5 minutes.
@@Lee-yy2lr I can see where you’re coming from. I think it’s challenging trying to convince thousands of kayakers and small boat owners to never fish offshore. I do the best I can staying on top of conditions, weather, having safety gear, and always wearing a PFD. I have been kayak fishing offshore for almost 10 years now and feel comfortable continuing to do it. The risk will always be there.
So awesome!!
Thank you!

I have followed you for a long time and love your videos, but please stop using Jesus as a curse word. Jesus created all things and He died for my sins…..and because I have given my whole life to Him, He has forgiven me of all my sins. And I will be with Him forever in heaven. I doubt you even know you’re doing it….but it’s personal to me when you use His name as a curse.
Amen
