    As an RN I once attended an infection control lecture and the speaker, who was some sort or an expert said that if something was totally dry there would be no bacteria or viruses. I remember that because it was not something that I thought was true. However, in light of that statement, I wonder what the difference would be on a cloth dried inside vs a cloth dried out in the sun

    Put your wash in washer and fill it up with water. Normal washer uses 30-35 gal per load and HE uses 10-25. So figure out how many gallons is in there to wash with then put the appropriate amount of sanitizer and let it spin a second to mix it in then turn washer off or pause for 15 min. After 15 min put your laundry soap in and wash as usual. It’s like a pre soak but in your washer.

    How many people disinfect their sponges everyday by these methods? Usually I just spray my sponge with disinfectant, leave for 10 min and rinse. I don't know how well this works, though. These sponges are supposed to be antimicrobial though. I am wondering what the amount of bacteria would look like with no disinfectant, just rinsing as needed tested for several days.

    I don't like cleaning but this is nice. Pluses - It catches the pet hair, cleaner to use than a mop, squeegee of the pads is easy, small where you can drag the bucket around. I would like it better if the pads were a little bigger than the head to clean edges, and not be slamming the head into the baseboard (and the dog goes hiding). I have textured floors so it has a bit of grab to it - so you need a bit of strength. On it's own, with the 5" wide head, I can't do tight places around the fridge or washer/dryer. But the pluses outweigh the limitations.

    Comparing this to your first laundry detergent stain test, it appears that Tide is definitely the most adept at decreasing a variety of stains, compared to other detergents tested, and that Tide with oxi works a bit better than regular Tide pods, especially on the ketchup. In your future test of more natural laundry detergents, it would be interesting to see how they stack up against Tide free & clear. Thank you.

    I'm sure it would be very difficult to test, but My most challenging issue with laundry is the funky smell that likes to stick around in bed sheets and t-shirts. I'm assuming it has to do with body oils. I've taken to keeping partial bars of soap scattered throughout my drawers and my teenagers' drawers to try to keep the smell under control (I saw that tip online somewhere). It's frustrating because various combinations of laundry detergent and other additives don't seem to do a good job on these stubborn smells.

    Any ideas on removing urine stains from carpets? I have very old pet and an elderly relative's urine stains everywhere. I've used two Hoover carpet cleaner machines with zero results. I've tried scrubbing by hand for days with very minimal results. It seems the spots have darkened and are more noticeable over the years. I've used various carpet cleaning machine cleaners such as Hoover's, Resolve, Shark Carpet dual stuff, Bissel pet stain, Great Value carpet shampoo, Dymon Liquid Alive and Oxy Clean powder laundry detergent, Shout stain remover, vinegar and who knows how many others. Frankly, I don't see much general dirt removal from Hoover machines though there is obviously lots of dirt in the water. I had a plastic runner over a couple years for the elderly relative and cleaned it often but you can see where it was and wasn't not just from urine but regular dirt. Is there a better machine, maybe? I don't want to hire a carpet cleaning service because we've never had good luck with them. Got sick as in going to the doctor after one. No, I can't afford new flooring and can't even imagine moving furniture and everything out. I must live with the carpet but would like to get some of the staining gone.

    • @bettyir4302
      @bettyir4302 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Need to say the carpet it Berber with the high and low pattern of the threads. The higher threads get cleaner but the urine apparently soaked down to the lower pattern and that's where the worst staining is. So, the stains make dark square lines everywhere if that makes sense.

    • @Taleri
      @Taleri 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@bettyir4302 I've found that with pet stains the carpet cleaners with the vertically rotating bristles (Like HOOVER SmartWash) work much better than ones with horizontally rotating bristles (like Hoover PowerScrub XL). Folex has also been really helpful in getting pet stains/smells out, but you do have to let it sit a bit to work.

    I think for families who have food falling on the floor that system would work. Esp on linoleum, vinyl or tile. I didn't like the idea of the flour getting pressed into the seams of the wood planks. I have tile and wood to deal, am over 5'8" so I would likely go for the hand held version (whisk broom style). Esp. since I do have a cat who occasionally over eats and throws it all up. Thanks for doing this test. I thought you were going to go after the sweep with a wet wipe to show how much was left behind...The video was good enough, though.
