i love your scraper idea so that’s gonna be added. i just did this to my moms ninja. i made a paste w barkeepers & dawn & painted it w a long acrylic brush. let it sit for at least 45 mins & removed w the hot scour side of a sponge. i did one side of the oven at a time & maneuvered the oven on a chair for easier access. because cleaning those things does take A LOT of effort! Hope your shoulder feels better!
Thank you for sharing!! I am always trying to figure out easy ways to clean these appliances!!!! My shoulder is ok, but does act up after cleaning like that!
Everyone’s machine is different. I too have dealt with multiple teen sons and an air fryer. I found that putting a metal pan half filled with water in the unit to heat until steaming worked for me. This creates a steam chamber that breaks apart the mess, which I can then wipe away from surfaces. We now do this monthly.
I have a Breville, and the instruction manual says to never touch with anything, the heat rods (don’t remember the real name) on the top and bottom of the oven as they are very delicate. It says they can’t be cleaned. For any part that can come out, I use the old hefty bag trick. Take all the parts, a hefty bag, and Easy Off outside. Put parts in bag. Spray the heck out of them. Seal up bag. Leave in direct sun all day. When sun starts going down, take parts out, hose everything off, scrub any tough spots, and you’re done! Works best in hot weather obviously. A lot easier than all that scrubbing. For the actual oven, I have no good answers! Thanks for another great video!
This trick also works with just household ammonia instead of oven cleaner. Just pour a half cup or so of the ammonia in the bag and let it all sit overnight and it's like a miracle how easy the gunk comes off. Great for grill racks too and way cheaper than oven cleaner.
@@vzeimen I didn’t know ammonia would do that! Thanks for the info. Do you know anything that will blast really tough lime/calcium deposits off porcelain and fixtures? I’m tried lime-away, with no success.
great vid! just cleaned my big oven...gross. on hands and knees trying to reach the back wall to clean. took over four hours. the wiping/rinsing was almost worse than the scrubbing.
@@bettyir4302 i looked on you tube for how to do it. just couldn't figure it out...nervous because i rent....glad you have the 'KNOW HOW". why oh why don't they make oven doors open sideways. i have seen on EXPENSIVE models 'french door' opening....ahhh that would make taking things in and out so much easier.... and the cleaning....
@@dagnolia6004 Forgot to ask if it is electric. No tools needed. Mine is an old Whirlpool but they're all pretty much alike. I open it slightly (25--30 degree angle?) to where you would when using the broiler sometimes. It catches itself at that angle with a stop. Then grab the left and right sides of the door, not the handle, and lift it UP off the hinge. It is sort of heavy so don't drop it. It takes a bit longer to put it back on trying to line up the hinges with the slot but still easy. This is a good time to tighten the screws on the handle and around the edges or whatever else you notice that needs doing. Or search TH-cam for "lift off an oven door" and there are several shorts that show a release thingy on the hinge. Hope this helps! More tips - if the oven doesn't heat up, it is likely the heating element. You rent so the landlord/maintenance guy, or you can replace it easily enough for $50ish if you don't want to wait on repairs. Make sure to get the right model number and compare the old one with the new one just in case. There is a metal squarish plate where the element goes into the back inside of the oven. Unscrew the 2-3 screws and the element just pulls out. Push the new one in - sometimes it has 2 little round metal pieces to shove in or 2 little square clippy things. Careful not to break the clippies or the wires. Then screw the plate back on and your all set. Honestly, it is easy. If the stove burners are electric coils, then pull out and slide a new one back. Make sure to get the right model number. Easy peasy!
@@dagnolia6004 If you're replacing the oven element, it'd be a good idea to turn off the electric breaker. I never have but... don't want you getting hurt.
I save my old tooth brushes for scrubbing tight places. I find it a handy cleaning tool. And am always looking for ways to reuse.♻️ I love your videos. Thank you for all the helpful content.
I came across a way to clean ovens that I will always use because it works so well. I don't know why it wouldn't work with your Ninja. For my regular sized oven which does not have a self cleaning option, I heat the oven to 250 or so and then turn it off Put two glass baking dishes in the warm oven, one over the other on the oven racks (I use 8"x8" ones but any size or shape will do, but be sure to use glass). In the bottom pan pour boiling water till there's about an inch or more in the pan. In the top pan, pour 1 cup ammonia. Close the oven and let it sit for a few hours or overnight. Take out both pans of liquid and pour the ammonia from the baking pan back into the ammonia bottle. Start wiping away the grime in the oven. Most of it will just wipe off pretty easily, even if it was really bad. I like to use a rough dish cloth or something with some ridges to grab the gunk. What's left in mine is just a little extremely tough baked on stuff like where something boiled over and dripped in the bottom of the oven, which might need either another go with the ammonia or tougher scrubbing.
Orange degreaser (LA Awesome maybe?) from $1.25 type stores, is a great degreaser. The only issue is rinsing it well enough after. Works great on my Ninja products and Oster countertop convection oven. Dawn Powerwash is great, too. (Hint: save your empty sprayers and look up DIY ‘recipe’ for the Powerwash!)
I had this same cleaning issue. Did a deep scrubbing clean of the oven using Easy Off, a scrubbing sponge & many paper towels. The oven looked good & worked fine for a week. Then received an error msg on the display & the oven no longer worked. Contacted the company, was asked when the oven was purchased, oven was still under warranty. The company sent me a replacement. It's possible the scrubbing damaged the coating inside the oven.
Anyone else thinking up all the ways these appliances can be created for the cleaners who have to maintain them? My thought: Just as they have figured out how to make a bracket to remove then slide out the glass pane in some full size ovens, such a set up could be employed here. Just remove the brackets, slide out the interior side panels, soak/scrub, reattach and you're done. Now for the fan part? idk, nothing other than a permeable yet protective screen comes to mind...? I wonder if you'll ever find one at a thrift store or your recycling station where you could test out various cleaning techniques...?
Thank you for another great video!! You are pretty funny sometimes 😂😂 Was wondering how a steam cleaner would have worked on the oven, along with the degreaser? Perhaps spraying the degreaser first, and letting it sit for several minutes, then going in with the steamer?? Also, for the grooves.. those fine steel toothbrushes used to refinish furniture came to mind! They'd get into those grooves easily! Looking forward to the next video!!
I have tried the steam cleaner for my other foodis, and didn't feel like they worked well. I do like the degreaser that I used! Steel toothbrushes sound like a great idea! Thanks!

I don’t think any manufacturer has a consumer remedy for this…except to go through the process every time it is used 😳… I do clean the pans & racks routinely and had covered the bottom tray with aluminum foil early on…so it’s fine ….helps to easily catch drips etc and replace when yucky. Never heard of one. Frankly, I would never have purchased it because the fan area will never get clean, especially the inside and backside parts. Besides, why make a double job for yourself having to clean it and the regular oven? Not to mention more counter clutter and space lost. But to each his own. YMMV and all that. Be happy. Appliances on this kitchen's counter - microwave, food processor, cheapo coffee maker and bread maker only because hubby gave it to me and I'm a wimp at kneading. We don't eat out and no processed food so from scratch cooking. Why buy a rice cooker when the stove does the job. No to a heavy stand mixer taking up room. No one was using the toaster so it went away. Don't want or need a plastic basket air fryer and how does it cook a liquid batter - oh yeah that means processed foods. Didn't have a stove/oven once and managed just fine with the microwave. Made a turkey for Thanksgiving in a microwave with no turn table (hate today's turn tables, they limit space) that came out perfectly.
Steel wool wrapped around the thick end of a chopstick for the rack grooves. Like a giant qtip.
