I clean my dishwasher filter weekly and fully wipe it out monthly. I clean my dryer once or twice a year and the washer about every other month. We’re a family of 4.
I run a major deep clean on my dishwasher and washing machine every 2 weeks. Vacuum out my dryer every 4 months. 1x yr lint trap that leads to the outside. I had a fire yrs ago caused by lint buildup inside the dryer. I Always rinse/prewash dishes before putting them in the dw. I called the manufacturer and they told me to always rinse dishes and Never put dishes with food in the dw. It will damage any dw over time. Food residue will get caught in the dw line and crevices. It will rot and become hard.
Same here! I'm used to having top loaders but my wife and I just recently moved to a place that came with a pair of Whirlpool front loaders (not very thrilled by it so far lol) so I know I absolutely have to stay on top of my maintenance game FOR SURE now.
Over time and based on water testing I have a schedule of cleaning my appliances that you mentioned once every three months. I have a reminder on my phone that reminds me to do it. 😊 Great video, thank you for the reminder. Appliances are way too expensive to not be taking care of them and doing the regular maintenance.
Great video! I actually clean my washer more than once a month with a bleach cycle. It's a front loader, so it sort of needs it. I do wipe the door seals after every use because it just won't dry on its own otherwise. I also remove the dispenser drawer after every use so that compartment can dry, too. I'm curious if you ever wipe out the inside of the dispenser compartment on your upstairs washer. I've noticed mold on the inside of the compartment if I don't wipe it out regularly. I need to get one of those attachments for my vacuum to clean the lint compartment! I've been using a bent coat hanger and it leaves a lot to be desired! My dishwasher accumulates gunk along the seals, so I frequently clean those, as well as the sides like you do. All the appliances came with the home when I bought it, so I never looked to see if my dishwasher has a filter! The other big appliance that needs regular maintenance is the refrigerator. I regularly move it to dust and sweep the floor, the vacuum the bottom vents and clean the door seals. The seals can become very dirty, but they're easy to ignore. 😊
Once every 3 or 4 months for the dishwasher. Washer the same, since I started using eco friendly detergents I don’t get the buildup and oder issues I used to have in my front loader. Don’t use fabric softener anymore either. Use dryer balls. Don’t miss it either. If you want a scent you can put a few drops of oil on the wool dryer balls.
I’m wondering if a cup of bleach a month would be insignificant enough to my septic system? I normally use the packs bought at the store, but not necessarily monthly 🫣 my washing machine actually reminds me monthly! I know we need to do more for the dryer and dishwasher 😅
Hi! Just found ur channel. Pretty cool stuff ur doing. I'm listening primarily for information on products and watching for tidbits. Hey, I gotta ask, what do you do for a living? I am curious if ur like a microbiologist, or a science geek somehow.. would love to know how you even thought about doing this. Do you have additional knowledge about bacteria, in general, infections, etc? If yes, would you consider a video regarding that? I want to hear what the risks are regarding having these bacterias in our homes.. snd thoughts on the good bacterias and microorganisms that are in our environment?:what happens to those. I have quickly realized I'm a dirty slob in comparison to you and others who watch and comment on this channel. But I'm alive still somehow. Just wanted to ask about that! Gonna get to some scrubbing 👋🧼🧹🪥

A couple of comments: Firstly, I hope your back is better. Mine has fully recovered now and I'm back to normal activity. Seeing your video reminded me you'd hurt your back too. I hope it's healed ok. Secondly: What a great video to show how to clean appliances! Thirdly: Why did this video give me anxiety? I think it's because it's a reminder of all I should be doing and haven't done? I'm getting seriously wigged out thinking about cleaning the dishwasher inside, and cleaning the lint trap of the dryer. Totally unexpected emotions! I think it's because I'd want to put on a hazmat suit to do it because I'd be grossed out. Not that my dishwasher nor dryer are filthy or anything...just the thought of cleaning it gives me the ick. Utterly bizarre.
More like once every...never here. 🤣 Oops. Gotta work on that! Did your vacuum cleaner come with that dryer cleaner attachment or was it something you got separately?
I am wondering where I can get an attachment like your’s for my vacuum cleaner hose because my crevice attachment isn’t small enough for the dryer lint trap.
@@MurphyMurray-h2g I use plastic straws taped tight together, cram them a few inches into the hose, then pull a few out further than the rest. A thick rubber band placed on the bunch keeps the whole thing from being vacuumed into the vacuum.
I have lived more years without a dishwasher than with, but I have to say I love my dishwasher!!! My hands get so dry, cracked, and eczema flared with I do a lot of handwashing. I have tried gloves but they make my hands sweat which still causses the eczema flare. At least you are where you are in designing what you want!!
saw your oxiclean laundry sanitizer video, do you think you could try standard oxiclean odor blasters? the only difference in ingredients is that it doesnt have TAED.
For you viewers and yourself, maybe figure out how to put this video on a monthly repeat? Midwest Magic Cleaning has a video that has seasonal cleaning tasks and I use that to actually do the seasonal cleaning tasks, it works! Like Maaaaaggggggiic!

Thanks for sharing your routine!
Hi Linda! We also need to clean the washing machine filter on the bottom. Just be careful, you will need a container to drain all remaining water.
I haven’t done that for a monthly maintenance… hmm maybe a deep clean! I haven’t seen a filter in my washing machines manuals …
Hmmm

YES! They are too expensive to not take care of them!
Salsuds is the best cleaner, for basically everything and it's very affordable. Add 10 drops of cinnamon oil and it will smell even better
Glad you like Sal Suds!

I don’t do it once a month! 😂 I usually do my washing machine after I wash the rugs! Whenever that is.
I always forget monthly!!

I am just not sure.. I would think one cup a month would be ok with a healthy septic system, but cannot say for sure!
Make an oven cleaning video next please.
I will add that to my list!! I should do that before thanksgiving.

I hated cleaning a dishwasher 🤢 our new house will NOT have one. I know I’m crazy right? But I just can’t deal with the maintenance on the DW.
