Ever dreamt of climbing a mountain?
Back when I was a kid, in my small hometown in Romania, all of my friends were obsessed with football. Since I never identified with the game, I felt left out and thought “I’ll never find an activity I love”.
Fast forward to my early 20s, after I finished reading Bear Grylls’s ‘Mud Sweat and Tears’ -something clicked. I was a Mountaineer. I might not have climbed any mountains yet or knew anything about what it takes, but somehow every cell in my body believed it.
I made this channel to share my experiences and hopefully someday inspire fellow unaware Mountaineers out there to reach new heights of their own.
My name’s Cris, welcome to Train to Summit.

2 Iconic Dolomite Via Ferratas, 1 Day: Roda Di Vael & Masare
Two awesome Ferratas, one day.
As part of a TH-cam series I'm doing where I'm rating the best Via Ferratas in the Italian Dolomites, in September I went to climb Via Ferrata Roda di Vael and Masare.
I started from the village of Carezza and took the cable car to Refugio Paolina to get to the start of the trail.
From the get-go, the views of the Brenta Dolomites leave you speeches.
The first Via Ferrata I did was Roda di Vael, to a summit bearing the same name.
This wasn't a difficult Ferrata, quite a good warm-up for Masare.
I'd say Via Ferrata Masare is the main event of these two, with consistent and good climbing and traversing and some incredible views from the higher points.
This was the last episode of the Rating series, for now...
I'm already eyeing up candidates for next year, stay tuned 🔥
I'm climbing the 7 Summits from sea level and to sea level, watch the video below to find out more:

Soloing the Highest Mountain in the Dolomites - Marmolada
มุมมอง 7K16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
There’s one Via Ferrata that stands above the rest and in this case, it’s literal. As part of a TH-cam series I'm doing 'Rating the best Via Ferratas in the Italian Dolomites', in September I set out to climb Marmolada's highest summit, Punta Penia. I was sceptical of going alone at first, since every classical route to Marmolada's summit seems to go over a glacier, however, once I studied the ...
Inside Italy's WWI Tunnels; Exploring Via Ferrata Delle Trincee

I'm on a quest to find the best Ferrata in the Dolomites, could this be it? After climbing 3 of the best Ferratas in the Cortina area I was looking forward to giving Delle Trincee a shot. Literary translating to 'Of the Trenches', this Via Ferrata feels like a museum as much as an adventure. Its ridge has stunning views of Marmolada and the Sella group, and the route takes you through ruins and...
If you're only going to do one Ferrata in the Dolomites, Make it This One - Pisciadu
มุมมอง 9K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Rated as one of the best Via Ferratas in the Dolomites - let's see if it lives up to the hype. Via Ferrata Brigata Tridentina isn't too difficult, which is probably one of the reasons for its popularity. That and the awesome suspension bridge of course... The climb is straightforward but exposed, culminating in a beautiful plateau with dramatic views of the Italian Dolomites. At the top of the ...
The Hardest Via Ferrata I Ever did in the Dolomites - Punta Anna
มุมมอง 25K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
Don't attempt this Ferrata without good climbing experience... A few months ago I decided to make a TH-cam series rating the best via Ferratas in the Italian Dolomites. Via Ferrata Punta Anna (aka Ferrata Giuseppe Olivieri and Gianni Aglio) going to the summit of Tofana Di Mezzo was BY FAR the hardest on this list. It is the most challenging Via Ferrata I have ever done in the Italian Dolomites...

If you're only ever going to do one Ferrata in the Dolomites, make it this one. After hearing about it for years, in August I went to climb Ferrata Ivano Dibona. I feel like this tour has everything you'd ever want from a Dolomiti Via Ferrata. It starts by following an abandoned cable car, crosses over a 30m famous bridge (the one from the Cliffhanger movie), and takes you back in time when cli...
My Next Stage of Project: 7 Summits Sea to Sea

A couple of years ago I decided to follow my crazy dream... to climb the highest mountain on each continent (also known as the 7 Summits challenge) from sea level and back to sea level - every single meter up and down, on foot. At the start of 2024, I put my money where my mouth was and went on a two-month expedition to climb the highest mountain in South America and Africa. This ended up being...
How to Climb Mountains on a Budget

Climbing mountains doesn't have to be expensive. During my first 5 years of mountaineering, I was broke, but that didn't stop me from climbing. As a beginner mountaineer, I learnt that you CAN climb mountains on a budget. Along the way, both Viv and I discovered ways how to keep our budget down. From when to book, to where to go, and the equipment we chose to buy, it's all in this video. In thi...
Switzerland's ACTUAL Best Beginner 4000m Mountain

In my personal opinion, Breithorn and Allalinhorn are NOT the best beginner 4k peaks in the Alps Mountaineering is a challenging activity, and the beauty lies in that challenge. If you're an aspiring Alpinist, I don't think your first high-altitude endeavour should be on a peak that's, well... catered for the masses. After years of failing to climb this peak, extreme winds hit during our attempt in July, forcing us yet again to retreat. I Climbed Kilimanjaro from the Sea (and back)

I thought Kilimanjaro was going to be easy. It wasn't... After climbing Aconcagua from sea to sea, Mount Kilimanjaro was the second peak of my project to climb the 7 Summits from sea level and back. We chose to climb the mountain via it's hardest route, the Umbwe route and were assisted by guides and porters from Monkey Adventures. The crux of the route was said to be the Barranco wall, but in ...
I walked 800km across Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro

Aren't you afraid of hiking alone through rural Tanzania? This is the question I got over and over again a month before departing. My goal was to summit Kilimanjaro from sea to sea. Hiking from the Indian Ocean to climb Mount Kilimanjaro was probably one of the most challenging things I've ever done. Nice video and also great drone shots. I'd recommend to start early and add the mountain top "cima pisciadù" for the great view you have there. I did this this summer but was late and got into heavy rain the last 40 minutes.
Fantastic video, I’m uk based and just looking at getting in to mountaineering at the grand age of 46, scrolling TH-cam for advice and guidance so this has been added to the to do list. New subscriber 👊 from Worcestershire
Hi mate, great content, indeed! Btw you have a great taste od music, really good music selection in this part!🤠
Once again, beautiful images, footage and insight into the Dolomites via ferrata legacy. Great to hear your opinions and recommendations. Fantastic achievement to have completed and reviewed the best of them.
@@johngardener4536 Thanks so much 🙏🏻 Glad you enjoyed the series!
OKay, adding to the list!
Great video 🙏
Correction: This via Ferrata is NOT in the Brenta Dolomites. Thanks everyone for letting me know!
You are not in the Brenta Dolomites but near the Catinaccio group!!
@@veronesegiancarlo1968 Thanks for letting me know. I pinned a comment to this video correcting the mistake
I rememebr Roda di Vael quite simple, while I completely agree with Di Bona as one of the best!
I couldn't agree more with your faves. Did Punta Anna 6 times, Gianni Aglio twice and Lipella three times. LOve them all. Next time try othe r faves of mine if you could: Tommaselli, Piazzetta, Eterna Cadore... but in all fairness all of these routes are so great, I love them all, that's why I come back year after year over here.
Thank you for these! We will definitely check those out next year
@@eugenpaval Tommaselli was on my list for a long time, you'll probably see a video on it next year 😉
Madalin,tThese two ferattas are not in the Dolomiti di Brenta. That mountain range is about three hours away to the west of the eastern Dolomites where these tow VFs are located. To be more precise they are in Catinaccio (Rosengarten in german). Dolomiti di Brenta is also quite different in how they look from eastern Dolomites. There is a prevalence of vertical walls interrupted by long ledges and their VFs have a lot of ladders due to this fact. Congrats on the production, it is quite beautiful.
@@eugenpaval Thanks, I correct the mistake
Great videos. Inspired to do some VFs in Chamonix now!

It's hard to access and it is looooong... Not too many are trying it due to the requirement to be in top physical shape plus a whole day of good weather
@@giomovementacademy I don't think they did, but I'll add it for next year 😉
@@TraintoSummit awesome;would be curious to see what you think of it
@@eugenpaval hard to access? I recall me taking about 1hs to approach which is not bad actually
Beautiful. I did those, too. They are a must do. For the thrill, you have to do Cesare Piazzetta, which I just did recently at age 62. My next targets are Punta Anna and Tomaselli. I'd recommend ferrata gloves and a resting sling with carabiner. Stay safe and all the best.
I love the series. Makes me want to do it in 2025 😁 Which one would you suggest to start with for a noob like me
Not to trample over the author's recommendation but you could start with Brigata Tridentina (Pisciadu); close to parking, fairly easy, refuge at the end; the downclimb is actually harder than the VF proper
@@URBEATSs If you don't have any experience with it, I'd actually say Roda di Vael, first one in this video!

You definitely have to add Ferrata al Sentiero dei Fiori al Tonale, not hard but definitely spectacular. But maybe it is just outside of the Dolomites.

Hi Cris, I think I watched your video felt like 100 times before I recently climbed also Pico de Orizaba. It helped me really a lot. Preparing for the climb mentally (though I did this with a local guide, which I guess it makes a bit easier, especially for the labyrinth) and also to get rid of the "fear" to visit Mexico. All the people I met was super nice and helpful and the climb was just great (except maybe the last 200 m which was a bit of struggle and of course going down was just a pain :) but otherwise we had best weather conditions! Thanks again and keep following your dreams! Here is btw a short tribute video inspired by your video: th-cam.com/video/ebuHtQVdafA/w-d-xo.html
