This brings back so many memories from soloing it in the early 90's. There was more snow when I did it, and i glissaded down some of those long, smooth slopes. When I was lying in the sun resting at the bottom of a glissade, Air Zermatt came flying over for a body-check, then off again when I waved happily. Great video. And yes, the top is sketchy. Great video.
Thank you for the lovely comment, I'm always happy when someone acknowledge the music haha. The Dufourspitze is a great goal to have/train for, let me know how it goes 💪
Wow, this is so unbelievably inspiring. Honestly so impressive after all the challenges in the past few weeks, then to knock this off. You both have a great mindset and keen to see what challenges come next. Thanks for giving me the energy to put my shoes on and go on a run.
Heart congrats my friend.....My best wishes are always with both of you....Being myself a trekker , I do understand pains and satisfaction of such jumbo hikes....Congrats again...Waiting for your next adventures !!!
Climbing Kilimanjaro from sea level sounds like an absolutely incredible challenge! The quick altitude gain on the Umbwe route must have been tough, but what an achievement to reach Uhuru Peak. Hiking across Tanzania and tackling Kilimanjaro like that - just wow. Thanks for sharing such an epic adventure! I would love to do this hike somedau!
Thanks for this amazing video . I am Italian and I climbed the Signal Spitze where Capanna Margherita is situated ....surely an easier alpine route . Good luck guys.
Enjoyed this! we did this route some years ago from Monte Rosa hut / Sattel ridge but did not film very much. It was spectacular, thanks for some great memories 👍
Nice coverage, hopefully will be also standing there one day? What is the mountain @14:10 ? Looks quite "hikey", maybe a good start for newbies like myself?!
Signalkuppe (4,554m) where the highest mountain hut in Europe, Capanna Margherita, lies. If you go on the channel (2 videos behind this one) you can see the video I made on climbing that peak over a 3 day trip. Thanks for watching!
That summit looked super sketch. Very impressive ascent though, from what i know one of the hardest summit pushes in the alpes given the total altitude gain and altitude, but those views definitely made up for it
I got more confident with flying the drone, three weeks later I flew it into my ice axe by mistake on the top of a mountain and snapped 2 of the propellers off 😂
Pozdrowienia dla polskiej ekipy z pod szczytu ;) good video and narration, watched it with interest and it recalled me memories of my ascent to the summit 2 years ago. Greetings
Congrats for the entire project! And also, thanks for the lack of fisheye/ultra wide footage. While I do get the point of getting more into the frame, I love to see things as they are.
Stellar mountaineering. Chapeau ! For Hut to Hut hiking in the Alps: Do you have to reserve a Hut bed before arrival, (presumably) and how do you make reservations? I read somewhere you need to send them an email and/or call. Hate to arrive to say a Dolomiate Hutte and then there is no vacancy. Are there an app to make reservations? Merci beaucoup.
@@StephanieHughesDesign Thanks! Yup, you have to make a booking in advance, the chance to find availability in popular huts over summer is very low. You need to find each hut's website online and make the reservation via their website 😊
Beautiful peak, but why not ascend from the Margarita hut directly? Is it much more difficult? I think in one of the videos you guys actually stayed at the hut
You guys are truly next level. I'm in love with mountains too, but your mountains are like giants compared to those I tackle! I'd be terrified to hold a big camera up at that summit, I can almost smell the thin air. But man it was amazing!
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thankfully the camera that I have is small and quite lite, but also pretty high quality😂 That night was one of those where you don't remember your dreams, you just kind of pass out in one position and wake up in the exact same position haha

Thanks for watching! I was. I don't like it when I can clearly see someone pilot the drone while they take the shot, it takes me away from the moment. I frame the drone where I want it and hold the joystick down to go in that direction while walking like I'm not holding the remote😅
@@TraintoSummit cool! Your videos really catch the essence of the mountains I find! Plus im familiar with Zermatt and Kazbegi so was soo cool to see you go there! Great work )
awesome filming! great adventures! good news: you have to come back to switzerland again to climb the ACTUALLY HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN SWITZERLAND! 😍 this is the "Dom". dufourspitze (the monte rosa massif) is partly in italy and therefore doesn't qualify as the highest mountain in switzerland...*nobodalovesmartasses* (this time it's for a good purpose - bringing you back) 😘
Dom has been on the list for a loooong time. Small Train to Summit Easter egg, the mountain in the logo is Dom 😉. Hey, what is currently your go-to boot on approach or easy trails without bolder fields? Tried to look through your vid's but couldn't find one talking about it.
Hi. For hiking I use Scarpa Men's Mistral GTX, it's comfortable and stable but the sole of the boot isn't as grippy as I'd like it to be. On the approach to the mountain huts I usually use regular running/walking shoes, like Nikeys, however for the last 3 Alpine trips we had I chose to go in my B2 boots (Scarpa Ribelle Lite) so I don't carry the weight of the boots on my back. I climbed in both Scarpa & La Sportiva before and I prefer Scarpa's. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
@@TraintoSummit Hey, thanks so much for explaining it in so much detail! I am currently in need of new boots for shoulder seasons and summer alpine hiking (maybe mild winter hiking too) and am not quite sure if B2's are really necessary or something between B1 and B2's. Thanks and keep up the good work! :)
Thank you for this. Monte Rosa, I think is a finer mountain than Mont Blanc. More interesting, more laid out topographically. It suffers from the fact it is not quite the same height.
Agreed. What I love most about it is that it feels so remote and far away from civilization. I also found this route to be harder than the Gouter route on MB
You can definitely cross the entire glacier without having to jump more than half a meter if you find the right spots - I mainly went over the 1m ones for dramatic purposes. Thanks for watching!
Congratulations, I would respectfully suggest reviewing the ‘committed regardless of anything’ there’s no shame in turning back. You need to do more than try, check weather forecasts, what do guides recommend, avoid navigation errors, what was the strategy if cloud closed in for the next day? Avalanche precaution, shovels, probes, recovery. Good fortune isn’t always abounding in the mountains. Take Care
I completely agree with you, and I think everyone should follow what you just said. What I mean with that statement is: When I climb, especially a big objective like Dufourspitze, I make it clear to my mind that no matter what happens, you have to get up there - because the way my mind works is that it will find excuses when the going gets tough to turn back. So there is no 'maybe I will make it'. Of course if the situation calls for it I'll go back, and I think everyone should. But it's just my psychological 'trick' to get the job done. Thanks for watching and for commenting!
@@TraintoSummitnot true at all. The only access point to Monte Rosa is Zermatt and it’s more challenging to climb, on the italian side you have at least 3 between Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta. And according to geography Monte Rosa is more in northern Italy than Switzerland.
