You're coming to work with me this morning on the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT. Riding from Maryland's Eastern Shore, over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, to Annapolis. Why did I get the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT?
มุมมอง 8K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Let me tell you why I got the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT. The sport touring category isn't exactly crowded these days. The GSX-S100GT is one of the most affordable new sport tourers available. It is more sport than tourer, with a 999 cc high revving inline 4 cylinder engine. This 500 pound bike is equally capable of mildly cruising around town, or eye-watering acceleration and speeds when opened up.
Does the RYKER STEERING STABILIZER make a difference?

Watch this before spending your hard-earned money on an expensive steering stabilizer for the Ryker! One of the most common complaints about the Can-Am Ryker is the instability of the steering on uneven roads. There are some snake oil or placebo cures out there, so in this video I find out the truth to the question: Is the steering stabilizer worth it? I also get temporarily distracted from the...

"When i get my first ticket, im going back to a harley"... Immediately whacks the throttle and rips to 140. LOLOL
lol I never really noticed that 😂
Great video, thanks! I checked the link for the lights and it look like its for up to an 08 street glide? What year is your heritage and was this the same one you used? Thanks!
Thank you! My Softail is a 2016. Dennis Kirk website sells the same part so you can check to see if it fits your bike www.denniskirk.com/bikers-choice/chrome-rear-turn-signal-lights-and-bar-w-amber-lens-161800.p2104023.prd/2104023.sku?srsltid=AfmBOooMDqjv0HNwkUA9RrYl0lmwxM6BIVhSGyL3ctToBmvbG2edsGjE
The cars and road look tiny compared to the trees. Nice ride!
Thanks! Yeah it looks like a toy road in some parts.
I never understood these riders wanting to "experience different bikes". I've been riding motorcycles since 1973 and never had more than one motorcycle. Sometimes I had a car but no motorcycle . I just want to get around. I don't need any of his gas guzzlers.
I can’t stop watching this
Did you see or hear any Bigfoot?
Oh yes. I saw a Bigfoot in a field just outside Grants Pass.
What camera and microphone? And, are you using it with a chest mount? Excellent video and audio quality.
Thanks. The audio quality can be tricky to get. I'm using a Rode lav mic taped to the inside front of the helmet. Mic is plugged into a GoPro mic adapter. The GoPro is mounted to the helmet with a MotoRadds chin mount.
There are settings on the phone you need to change so that you don’t need the phone screen on or be on the app to use navigation
Thank you! I wish I had spent more time to figure that out.
Wow, nice ride!
this is a 2023 RT? I take it- you generally are happy with it (easy to do 250 miles on a single tank- in relative comfort)? Somehow I keep thinking- on a fj-09 with a seat height of 33.3. inches- the RT somehow always looks a bit 'small'- and I wonder if foot pegs position doesn't begin to cause knee pains/aches..
It was a rental, so I don't even know which year it was. I found the riding position quite comfortable, although I am not very tall. The seat does have two position. I was using the lower position. The higher position increases the height by about 20 mm I think.
Thanks for posting that. I have ridden that road a few times on my bike and a lot more times in a car. My dad lived in Northern California and I took that route from where I live in Oregon. I ride like you, safely. I was waiting for that long tunnel but you must have edited it out. Great video and I really appreciate it. Ride Safe!
Thanks for the comment! I will make sure Mrs. Slow Rider sees this since you point out that I ride safely 😁 I actually had the camera off when I went through the tunnel.
Slow Rider, This is the thing I was looking for. If you wish, I will nominate you for honorary membership into the Slowly RollingTurtles Motorcycle Club.
That definitely sounds like the MC for me!
At 2:46 I've had people pass me here too. It's posted 45 mph from GPass to town of Rogue River, but most drivers don't care about 45, they like 55 - 70+ just like you do. Thanks for a glimpse of one of my favorite rides out thru Wimer, East Evans Creek, Sam's Valley, etc. Also, my GoPro Chin Mount fell off exactly as you describe (detached on the factory glue side). Fortunately, my camera is tethered to the helmet by a string, so the camera didn't hit the road surface. Once home again, I cleaned the bare Chin Mount twice with two alcohol pads, heated the glue patch on the helmet over a flame, and the Chin Mount has now remained glued for 5 months. Your other mount also looks secure, and I hope it continues to give good service.
AWESOME!!! That looks like an amazing ride, thanks for sharing!!!
Not gonna lie I want to buy it
I just bought a 2016 Fatboy from a dealer (but not a Harley Davidson Dealer) They gave me two barrel keys but I didn’t think about the security system and know all bikes don’t have it but looked up the VIN and it shows my bike did come with a security system so how am I able to start the bike without the fob? Can I purchase a new fob from a Harley Davidson Dealer? I don’t want to go on a road trip and have trouble with this. It’s a really nice bike but a problem like that would piss me off so want to make sure it’s not a future issue.
Before checking with a dealer, I'd try a private locksmith. They can often sell and program remotes for cars.
Where did you buy it?
Somewhere in Cumberland Maryland
Better be careful thats the legendary k5 GSXR engine, I want one so bad lol. Nice bike!
Thanks! You got me curious to see what the used market looks like for these bikes. I was surprised to not see many under 10,000 USD. Maybe over the next year or two...
I have a '22, 15K miles now, and I see that many have made the same modifications. However, one can order the taller and wider Touring screen direct from Suzuki. It does a better job, but at 6"2", I also added a Puig visor. The only real issue I've found is locating a replacement air filter at a reasonable price. A shop manual is a good investment, as the bike is very easy to work on once the plastics are removed. I've replaced the stock brake pads as well to address the lackluster performance of the stock with EBC semi sintered, and found a great deal on a set of Dunlop RoadSmart 4 to replace the stock RoadSport 2. I went through 3 sets of the stock tires before upgrading, and looking forward to the longevity and enjoying the performance/handling boost. They indeed work better. I found a source for Ecstar R9000 oil, things seem to run smoother on full synthetic, especially the blipper. Added Denali fender mounted S4 aux lights to the front and their rear lights to the back. The last thing I'm going to splurge on is the Sargent seat that another poster recommended, the stock seat is not comfortable for touring, Suzuki should have gone premium on a GT bike.
This is November 2024 a lot has changed with this motorcycle and I mean a lot
Other than paint colors?
Nice bike would love to own one but if I didn't lose my license after getting one it would be the end of me. Sadly I think I may just be to old for that much now.
Thank you for video what type sway bar?
That is the stock sway bar with different links.
Worst example
If i need to add oil, do i do it on a cold or hot bike?
It would be best to run the engine for a few minutes at idle, then let it sit for about 2 minutes. Check the oil level, and add oil as necessary.
@@slowridertv thank you!
The gas cap being stuck has to be the stupidest thing I've seen on a modern bike. I cant believe its common enough where there is youtube videos on it. I expected better from the Germans. Great video!
Life in USA would be lot more easy if people would bother reading the manual. Cheers from Germany
@@jesam75 Looking at the manual, the only thing I did not do was use the centre stand. It worked today though, so perhaps I am missing something.
I know what it is All Ineed to know is how to reprogram it. That iis it!
How many numbers in the pin?
Pretty sure it is 5 digits
Love the Vulcan S so much I made a channel around it 🖖
Here's my opinion. It is a very good bike and you can have fun with it! It's easy to ride, you will have fun at cruising but also when you wanna hit some corners. You can't corner as you can with a sport bike, but you can corner more than with a Harley or an Indian. Highway riding is possible for sure. But in Germany we actually try to avoid highways. We have a lot of more fun at landscape roads. The stock exhaust sound sucks in my opinion but actually alomost every stock sound is boring. With another pipe that problem should be fixed. Well you don't have a V-Twin sound on that bike. If you like that, nothing is better than a Harley or maybe Indian. But I like how the Vulcan S looks like. In that case I can hardly find a Harley that would really look good to me.
Got my install completed today. Huge difference, easy install took little over one hour. Great install and video. Thank you for sharing.
I’m so glad it was helpful. Thanks for letting me know.
Test rode the GX1000 version. A fine bike indeed. Feels slower than an MT09 for some reason despite 30 horsepower up. The weight perhaps. Doesn't feel like a rocket like the Yamaha does. But it's plenty fast enough. Probably faster acceleration at highway speeds. The bike is well built, and has one of the best quick shifters I have tried.
How good is this bike for using it as a daily for work?
It’s hard to beat for that purpose 👍
Adjust your foot peg to level 1 , it helps keep your body more stable on the bike since u can use your foot pressure to hold u steady
Did u get the XL windshield and are u looking through your windshield or above it
I got the larger windshield. It is adjustable. I have it in the highest position and I look just over the top.
@@slowridertv ok sounds good, I will try that
I upgraded to the larger 'touring' windshield from slingmods. I'm about 5'-8" and sitting on a Comfort Seat, and my line of sight over the new windshield was right at the horizon. That meant I had to either look through it at everything on the road. or sit uncomfortably straight and crane my neck to see over it. Looking through the windshield wouldn't have been a problem on my original 'sport' windshield, because it was crystal clear. But the new one has kind of a pebbly, wavy surface that blurs my view. So I modified the adjustable clamp to drop the windshield about 1 1/4" at its lowest setting, and that took care of the problem. My line of sight over the top is about twenty or thirty feet in front of me now, and I don't really care if the road's a little blurry closer than that.
Sport mode for me
133 ...yes. F yes.
😁
Do they hit your high way bars??
They do touch slightly at full lock, but not enough to concern me.
@@slowridertv thank you. I just looked and they do not have them for my 2013 Heritage….
@@JohnJones-op8uf That's weird. But it appears Dennis Kirk has some for your 2013
@@slowridertv yes, I had ordered them but didn’t fit my bike. I would have to remove my turn signals…
Lol. I have a Harley with NO actual ignition key. Its only the fob and the fork lock. I have yet to see one single video of anyone with a harley thats 2022 and up talking about this fob situation. I got the bike from a friend who never rode it 1 mile its a brand new bike he let sit for almost 2 years....
Great vid, I wanted fork deflectors anyways and didn’t even know they reduced buffeting which is sort of a problem for me. Another route is to actually get a smaller windshield or angle yours if it’s possible so it only protects your body up to your neck, then your head is in a steady stream. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than buffeting and keeps your torso warm.
Man that thing sounds good under load! Love the way my Tiger 900 sounds too.
Why not buy a real tiger then ?
@@cynic150 ok?
Love riding on the bridge great views
I've ridden the Chesapeake Bay Bridge several times. BEAUTIFUL ride. If you ever have a chance, the Mackinac Bridge is an experience. Safe Riding.
Nice vid. Where do you mount your Gopro.?I tried using one and put it on top of my helmet and the sound was like I was in a hurricane. Also do you have an external mic setup?
Thanks! I use Chinmounts.com, been very happy with them, and I really like the point of view. The only way to get acceptable audio is to use a mic inside the helmet. I have a lavalier mic that plugs into a GoPro media mod, and I run the cable inside the helmet.
I've driven over that bridge once or twice. Well I guess if I drove over it once I had to come back that way, so I've been on it at least twice. :) Ecstatically bridges are beautiful. However, I do have a bit of a phobia when it comes to going over tall/long bridges. I'll stay in the middle lane have both hands on the steering wheel and if there is a vehicle in front of me I will get close, not too close, but close to it and ride it until near the end of the bridge. I don't look over at the rail sides at the water either - I only look right in front of me. I know. I know. I made this all about me. LOL :)
That ship causing the bridge collapse in Baltimore has me on edge now whenever I see a ship near the bay bridge.
I don't get it my Harley tires have over 12k on them and I'm not even close to needing new tires.
I suspect Harley installs good quality tires from the factory. And tires for sportier bikes use a softer compound for more grip, but less tread life.
Different riding styles and different bikes. I'm lucky to get 10k out of the tires on my Ultra limited.
I just changed the back tire on my 23 Lowrider s Saturday. Free tires for life from my dealer. Only 7400 miles on the bike. PS I probably would have turned around when I saw that water in the beginning. I did just that in Sea Isle NJ on Sunday. Didn't want to chance going through 3 feet of water.
If anyone needs to see details of the Ocean City bike week incident I mentioned www.oceancitytoday.com/news/local-walsh-family-hoping-for-miracle-after-hit-and-run-collision-in-ocean-city/article_61cd3796-75ec-11ef-ba84-cf327fcc6245.html
Mrs Slow rider says never let your slowrider wife see your speed. She will care. Don't make me put training wheels on that while your gone.
love your content brother. I just have a question is the seat comfortable for long rides?
Thanks. Really appreciate that! But no, the stock seat is not very comfortable for long rides. I did a 5 hour ride recently and after 3 hours it was almost unbearable.
Where i live, they do a couple of bands where the car tires would be, but they leave them proud fron the rest of the road, if your just going straight there isn't much of a problem but when you're turning they are really annoying and make you feel like you're are going to fall. I really hate them.
This bike is amazing, the engine is simply stunning, pulls in any gear.
Definitely!
