Why did I get the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT?

  • Let me tell you why I got the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT.
    The sport touring category isn't exactly crowded these days. The GSX-S100GT is one of the most affordable new sport tourers available. It is more sport than tourer, with a 999 cc high revving inline 4 cylinder engine. This 500 pound bike is equally capable of mildly cruising around town, or eye-watering acceleration and speeds when opened up.

    Great video! I came from the Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx and I've changed to the Suzuki GT you made the right decision. It's the better bike. It's definitely a riders bike.

    I have the same in Triton blue. Had it first over a year now and wouldn’t trade it for anything else! It’s great to take camping! Thanks for the video!

    I went from years of riding big HDs to a Ninja 1000SX for all the same reasons... comfort, weight, cost, tech, style...love it. In my third now.

    I recently sold my Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic and bought a BMW F750 GS. I had ridden cruisers almost my whole adult life and it was a big change but I love it. It’s given me a whole new perspective on riding. Good video and have fun on the Suzuki, especially going fast on all those private roads outside the country. Got a chuckle over that. Ride safe!

      That's cool! I remember watching your videos a couple of years ago when I was considering the heritage Softail. I didn't know you had made a change to the Beemer. I'm heading to your channel now to catch up 👍

    I’m very tempted to try and find one. Having such a reliable engine with smooth yet aggressive power and a more upright style is ideal to me. I’ll be curious to see how it fits being 6’4”. I’m Uber comfy on my vstrom 1000 but would love something along these lines as well.

    I sold my Street Glide and went to a Triumph Tiger 900. Best move I could have made. So much more fun riding the Tiger.

    Great bike, congrats and enjoy. I bought a 23 MT-10 last year, and I love it, but it is pretty aggro for true sport touring especially without wind protection. I'll keep the MT because the engine alone is worth it, but may add a mile-eater like this Suzuki.

    I have the same bike, same colour and absolutely love it. I did test ride the Ninja SX and preferred it but a year on I really can't fault my GT. Lovely fit and finish too.

    When I bought my GT (black like yours) last year, both the regular and 'touring' screen were included. The touring screen is quite good. Also, I see you have the shift lights enabled. I would suggest raising the thresholds on them so you aren't lighting up at 4500 RPM.
    The kind of hidden, but excellent feature (in my mind) is having the display switch automatically between night and day modes by using a photosensor in the dash.

    i got a 2024 in the daring red color. This bike is, THE BIKE. I took it 4,600 miles cross country after the first servicing and i had blast in the mountains, desert and everywhere else. Wouldn't of been the same on a harley.

      Besides highway, I'm barely getting to use 6th gear. Majority of the time i'm doing even highway in 3rd - 4th. It loves that middle range-higher RPM.

    Nah man, that can't be called a motorbike... but a damn airplane haha!
    I have had a Suzuki Katana 1000, until one month ago. Same engine and same chassi. What you wife said about speeding tickets, was completely right for me haha. I got a few after a year and I wanted to go back to a kind of "chill retro cruiser". So I have gotten a Bonneville T120. Reminds me of my old Sportster Roadster 1200. Comfortable, slow and strong. Great in nothing, but good in everything.
    However, listening to you has given me the enthusiam of having a great new bike. I guess you already know it, but your new bike is awesome. And the engine is pretty old (from the K6 Gsxr i think) which means pretty tested and reliable as hell. Suzuki is a great manufacturer. Plus, GT stands for travelling comfortable, far and, if you want, fast. At least that was the original meaning in the 80's in Europe.
    You sound nice and humble. I really wish you enjoy that bike for so many kilometers (or miles).
    Best regards from Spain!

      Thanks so much for the kind comment all the way from Spain! It is definitely nice to have the performance AND relative comfort of a GT. The Bonneville is such an amazing looking bike. That might need to be my next choice if I don't calm down on this Suzuki 😇

    I have a black 22' model. It's as if a GSX-R1000 donned a tuxedo. The bike is deceptively fast, especially once you flash the ecu and remove the factory restrictions.

    How is the wind protection (helmet noise especially) with the windshield extension? Have you thought about getting the touring windscreen?

    • @slowridertv
      @slowridertv  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The touring windshield was temping but I hear a lot of people are not happy with it. The extension helps slightly. I feel it's well worth the $12 I paid for it, but it is still noisy enough that I feel the need to wear earplugs.

    I’ve got a 23 GT+ in triton blue. Get a lot of compliments from younger guys. Love my bike. I’m not into black bikes but black really suits the GT , particularly with the bronze rims and subframe. Where are you at in MD? I’m in N. VA. Cheers

    Great video, thanks, was wondering if you first did any test rides on the Tiger before going for the Suzuki as i am currently between these two bikes ( gsxs1000gt or Tiger 900 Gt 2024).
    (Anyone with experience on these two bikes is welcome to throw some words or opinions)
    Thanx again for the nice video!

    Hi, would you say that the bike is easy to ride?

    • @slowridertv
      @slowridertv  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, easy to ride. It has smooth and predictable braking and handling. The only caution is power. It's smooth but it has a LOT of power so it can get away from you quickly if you make a mistake.

      @@slowridertv how well do the rider modes work in your opinion?

    • @slowridertv
      @slowridertv  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@geecee4746 The ride modes do a good job of taming the power. I stayed in B or C mode for at least a month until I adjusted to the power. The modes make a very noticeable difference in throttle response. Mode A is wild until you're used to it.
