    • @TinyIndustrial
      @TinyIndustrial 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, all true. It's hard to use with renewables, but it is possible. You have to calculate how many flushes per day is reasonable and then figure out what kind of power/battery array that would entail. It's a pretty hefty setup you would need.

    What about doing this to 3/4" sheets of plywood, to be used as an elevated shed base? The shed will be sheet metal (e.g. Arrow). Would have to just leave it the lifetime of the shed (5-10 years), since no way to crawl underneath and work on the plywood after the shed is installed.

    • @TinyIndustrial
      @TinyIndustrial 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a hard 'NO'. Plywood has glues in it that won't like being heated like this. I would buy some pressure treated plywood or construct in such a way to minimize exposure of the plywood to the elements. Pressure treated wood can also not be used with this procedure.

    Beautiful. A company I worked for had me install this around a new custom home and the folks they had hired to burn/finish the boards did not brush off the flaky parts of the burn and then applied a coat of finish over it. The product looked beautiful but was more delicate than any hardwood I've worked with. It would flake if you looked at it the wrong way, never mind trying to get a piece installed around a window and its flashing. It looked beautiful when finally installed but over time the flakes started to fall off with the wind and rain and a couple months later the house looked like it had been there for 5+ years. Glad to see somebody going about it logically. I love the look Shou Sui Ban brings without resorting to plastic or metal. Great job. Also - I had to burn some of my own for a fence I built. I found that it was worth hitting the entire tongue as well so overtime when the boards inevitably move and contract you will see a dark shadow line instead of the natural wood colour.

    Reason your device is not charging is because I believe you need higher than 12V so maybe put 3 parallel rows, with each row having 2 in series, might work to charge it. Digital multimeter to test voltage, and can test amperage too. Find specs of what voltage you need, maybe it’s 18V. I think they each make 2.5W total, thing those batteries need 40W

    • @TinyIndustrial
      @TinyIndustrial 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You may not be supplying enough voltage if they are only putting out 12 volts. The input has to be higher. Try putting 2 in series (3 times) to double the power and then you will have 3 red/black to wire up and see if that works. If it doesn't try 3 in series and then 2 parallel.

    Check w/ your generator input. I tried micro several years ago using a solar charger. Much to my dismay, the solar charger required a specific input voltage in order to trigger charging to begin. It was an internal safety. I suspect you may be facing the same issue. If you could find the specific total voltage/amp combo needed to initiate charging, you can calculate your input gear to match it. Good luck!

    How much electricity does the incinerator use per flush?

    • @TinyIndustrial
      @TinyIndustrial 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Roughly it uses 1kilo watt hour per cycle. Average price per kWh in the US is currently around $0.17. You have that and the cost of the liner (pennies). So figure that it costs about 20cents per 'flush'.

    I guess it depends on both personal taste and the type of wood you're using. The darker burn might be the best choice for wood with less pronounced grain, but just as you said in the video, if the wood has a nice grain structure it is a shame to cover it up with too much of a burn.

    • @TinyIndustrial
      @TinyIndustrial 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      NO! Don't do it. The liners are wax paper. You don't want any moisture absorbing materials to be used as a liner. The liner is the barrier between the waste and the toilet itself. No waste ever touches the toilet, so it stays really clean. Same reason that most people don't use cheese cloth to pick up dog poop...plastic bags create a better barrier. Same concept here.

    I use a different method that I like better. I burn ALL of the sections to the alligator char. Then I only wire brush off as much as I desire before finishing: None to most. Thus it is the amount of removal NOT the amount of charring that determines the appearance of the final product. Why do it my way? The purpose of yakisugi is to remove, harden and chemically convert the lignin in the wood into insect and fire resistant material AND for aesthetic reasons, to add the grooved texture to the wood. Your “lightly burning” and “moderately burning” method does neither. Typically, I either finish the alligator as is with several coats of poly OR remove most of the char with a soft wire brush so as to expose the uncharred wood, running with the grain to obtain a DEEPLY grooved textured board. Then I apply the oils or stains or dyes, immediately wiping the top surface with a clean rag. I then LIGHTLY sand the top of the wood with fine sandpaper to remove any residual stain to expose the unstained CHARRED wood. Because the grain is raised, sanding will leave the stained area between the raised grain untouched. Then, after removing all dust, I apply a coat of poly to the whole board so as to create the highly desirable finished and protected and aesthetically pleasing two-tone look that people want.

      Thanks! That's good advice. Sounds like that process is working well for you.

    That’s a scary toilet.

      A bit. Can be intimidating. Really reliable and safe though when it comes down to it.

      @@TinyIndustrial the toilet looks dangerous. Since it shoots fire. What if someone accidentally flush while sitting and the fire burn their butt.

      Pretty hard to 'flush' this accidentally since that involves depressing the foot pedal.

    Thank you for posting! We have yet to install our Incinolet but I am looking forward to not having to worry about black water from the RV!

      That's a great idea. You would need shore power or the generator running though to use it...unless you have a hefty solar set up on your RV.
