  • Tiny house heating and cooling is a topic that invariably comes up when you are planning, building or designing your tiny house. When it came down to heating my tiny house on wheels, I opted for the Envi Heater for my tiny house heating consideration. Check out a variety of options here:
    Envi Heater (got it): amzn.to/3ObW10W
Isiler Heater (I have one of these too): amzn.to/3EEq9iq
Candelabra fireplace insert (great for upstairs warmth): amzn.to/3UKHAn1
Mr. Heater Propane Heater (Yup have that too): amzn.to/3V3L9Vb
    Dickinson Heater: amzn.to/3GnZ84e
    Radiant floor heating: amzn.to/3VvoPUB
    Built in wall heater: amzn.to/3gcfFNT
Wall mount fake fireplace heater: amzn.to/3TLVXpQ
There are many other ways to heat a tiny house though. In this video I walk you through most/all ways of how to heat tiny house. After telling you how you can heat a tiny home, I explain the way that I heat my tiny house, including my Envi heater.
I'm a tiny house author and a tiny house builder. When I first started building my house back in 2013, information was harder to come by and so now I want to provide those just starting their tiny house journey with relevant information to get them empowered and started down their own path to a more minimalist lifestyle.
I welcome you to check out my TH-cam channel and subscribe for other relevant tiny house content including a full tutorial of how to build your own tiny house. good info.. but you should look into a 9k Mini Split. Very quiet and are pretty efficient. Low power draw. I installed a Pioneer 9k model in my RV. It heats, cools and has a built in dehumidifier. Well under $1000, easy to install, 6 to 800w for heat or cooling. I also purchased the WIFI module.. and I can control it from anywhere with my cell, or put it on an automated schedule.

Thank for your comment. It made me realize that I left out the whole mini split thing. Not sure why that wasn't on my radar. It's super effective and therefore a popular heating and cooling choice. Makes me want to redo the video to capture that. For now, I'll pin this comment at the top. :)

Appreciate the discussion and learning about other options! Our Envi heater, when turned up to high, significantly-frighteningly-discolored the drywall above it. If/when we reinstall it, we’ll be installing a metal deflector at the top where the warm air comes out. We’ll have to engineer this ourselves as I’m unaware of any accessory sold for this purpose. We also like: the Dr Portable Infrared heater; DeLonghi oil-filled radiators; and Davis Air-Dryrs, which are sold in the boating industry for preventing mold in small spaces-they too create a silent, gentle, constant heat source. Keep in mind propane heaters actually put out moisture which must then be dealt with, and should be used with ventilation, like a cracked window, if I recall correctly. RE: Safety… Always buy UL and/or ETL listed; and we trust you have smoke detectors plus egress windows in place. Oh, yes, someone mentioned a mini-split-a bit pricey but that would be my ideal!
Just getting to know your channel and enjoying it-it’s a great info and inspiration source all-around! Thanks!

Hm. That's interesting. I have not seen this happen with either the envi heater in the tiny house or the four I have installed in another house of mine. I suppose that the heat can have a discoloring impact though. Perhaps the type of paint you used?
Thanks for the kind words and for checking out my channel. Any videos you would like to see me do in the future?

@@TinyIndustrial It was ordinary Sherwin-Williams interior paint. I think my mistake was leaving the heater at the “high” setting, assuming it would never get “that” hot. Disconcerting to see that it did indeed get “that” hot. I’ve seen others recommend creating a deflector for the Envi, but I don’t recall the reason-just to better distribute heat-? Or because they ran into a similar issue-? I still think it’s a nifty little convective heater!

I want to go off grid as much as possible so Im gonna get a 30,000 BTU propane heater and try that. I dont have room in my tiny house for a wood stove and I dont live in a wooded area so firewood burning is not really gonna work

30000 BTU sounds like overkill for a small space, no? Are you in a really cold area? Northern Quebec? :)
