Thank you for this video, really well researched and enjoyable! Ive been playing GX recently, its become one of my favourite games ever, but i must admit it is a little frustrating that the majority of the stats in the game are inaccurate, and you have to try each machine individually to truly get a feel for them. My personal favourite machine is the Rainbow Phoenix, handles beautifully and is great all round, and least favourite is the Night Thunder, for the same reason as you said here in that its too unstable and annoying to use!

I think there's a much easier solution. There's another game with vehicles that behave much like f zero racers and star fox arwings. Mass effect. Id reckon the element zero drive core and the g diffuser system are the exact same thing. F zero universe vehicles could only orient themselves based on local gravity with the tracks themselves having a magnetic field to simulate gravity to let the machines anchor to. Explains everything. Plus why they don't adhere to other surfaces, and why civilian roads are still very much like ours, as seen in gx story mode

My cousin and I were fascinated with named custom machines back in 2004 haha. Though we didn't have much patience and only discovered a handful. I used the Fantasista all the time, and he loved the Dragoon. Thanks for sharing some commentary on each and every one of these, I thoroughly enjoyed it :)

Getting here after the wrong GX stats video: It seems like it applies to F-Zero Climax as well. I've been comparing performance on all machines. I still remain the same about Wild Goose: ABD instead of ABC.

I can disagree with the Wild Goose. It has a D grip for sure, but boosting is amazing, not to mention it really helps it getting near top speed.

I hope you don't consider what I am going to say cruel, but I love your intonation. I think it's just a consequence of you attempting to pronounce English as best as you are able, for which I am grateful, or that perhaps you are still a little nervous/self-conscious when recording your own voice (I certainly fulfill all those categories myself), but it has a certain quality of almost sounding exhausted - as if you just spent hours toiling to overcome the very F-Zero challenges you are speaking about and immediately leapt into recording. Thanks for the vids, man.

My boy you want a f-zero challenge try getting all the achievements on retroacheivments I managed to do it, but there is one called jumping the peak good god was that hard!

What gets me is in the japanese interviews for some reason one of the lines with digiboy has mr zero slowly face towards digiboy and say *"Do you believe in god??"* like its that one fucken scene from xavier renegade angel or some shit xd

While I was also able to breeze through most of the tests in Zero Test, I definitely agree that S4 is the toughest one of them all. If I didn't learn about doing DDTs with Blood Hawk, then I would've struggled a lot more getting the flat-10 gold time.

As an American who imported the Japanese version ahead of the US launch, one of the first things I noticed after the US launch was that the track names were different. As I recall, some of the names are literally taken from other tracks and switched around. Perhaps you could get a bit more clarity by looking at the Japanese track names?

And his machine straight-up looks like the Light Arwing model from Star Fox 2.

The "Maximum Velocity is actually a prequel to the series" theory seems to be a popular one when it comes to justifying the oddities of the game though another theory I also see popping up is that Maximum Velocity is a different division/class of F-Zero kind of like what NXT is to the WWE. I will admit that I think I prefer the latter when it comes to theories on Maximum Velocity but I think this game is so interesting because of how little is really know about the game's lore, even in comparison to the rest of the series (and the fact that it has a completely different roster to the rest of the series too)

At 0:51 you say "and using max speed you can actually get ???? ???? through the first lap" And I can't figure out what you say here. any help?

Still the best racer IMO love the acceleration and slidey turns. I like both the foppish womanizer from the first game and I imagine he matured into a more serious physician as he aged and him saving falcon and gazelle and others from the crash is awesome. But for the love of god, in the 3d games they should have widened the back of the machine and widened the spoiler, it looks better in the damn snes game, they really didn’t capture it right

They gave him worse stats by 1… which is a terrible missed opportunity to have his stats say BAD

I almost feel like if Nintendo wanted too, we could have had a little bit of a connection between nearly all space/futuristic themed nintendo franchises and games. F-Zero, Star Fox, maybe even Metroid, etc. I like to imagine how would Samus Aran look and play like if she was a guest racer in F-Zero with a machine designed after her ship similar to how James McCloud was designed and based after Star Fox. Maybe not necessarily have Samus, but at least have a made up character based on her and the metroid games.

Master Work, the modern version of Jet Vermilion if you squint at it close enough, and Aqua Griffon, which is arguably the best use of the Aqua Goose chassis...

Why not give the Bright Goose Z a shot? It carried me a lot. It's got quite a top speed to it, and with boost, it can easily shoot ahead of the competition. Body: Aqua Goose Cockpit: Bright Spear Boosters: Triple-Z Also gives it a really cool jet fighter look

I tried the Gladiator before my GX save data blew up, and I really liked it. Handling can be a bit stiff, but that goes away as you build up speed, and the upshot is worth it. I also adore its aesthetics. Most custom machines tend to look slapped together and not cohesive. Not the Gladiator. It looks almost like a default machine.
