My initial thought on Stabilo Woody Pencils
Hello
I have received my order of Stabilo Woody 3-in-1 pencils, so I thought I would do a quick review of them. And I can honestly say I am way more impressed with them than I expected.
These pencils seem to be aimed at children, in their packaging and descriptions. But do not be fooled. They are wonderful for artists as well.
They are described as a combination of: colouring pencil, wax crayon, and watercolour in one. And they really are all of these things!
This video is looks at how the pencil flows on the paper, reacts with water and reacts with white acrylic paint. I think these are going to make a staple part of my creative stash and make regular appearances in my art.
Thanks for watching.

Comparing Art Crayons I use
มุมมอง 1509 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a video where I show why I like certain art crayons I have and why I dislike others. I also show a process based on mark making with the crayons. I look at Dina Wakley Media Scribble Sticks, Jane Davenport Colorstick, and Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. I also compare with one type of oil pastel (Sennelier). Of the three type, my favourite is the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. This is due to t...

Tag Tuesday - Acrylic paints and burning! (Time-lapsed)
มุมมอง 86ปีที่แล้ว
Hello Fellow Creatives! This week's Tag Tuesday is a time-lapsed video showing used of flakey texture paste by Izing, acrylic gloss sprays by Dina Wakley, Golden iridescent paint in silver and a blow torch! This time I chose not to put a primer of Gesso on. This was for two reasons: 1 - I was adding texture paste to a lot of the tag 2 - I wanted there to be a difference in the way the differing...
Tag Tuesday - Graffiti look tag!

Hello Fellow Creatives! Here's another wonderful Tag Tuesday video. This is a quick and easy way to achieve a graffiti look. Again I used a layer of gesso as a base for this tag. It sealed the MDF and stopped the mediums used on the project from absorbing into the MDF. The colour was added with paints from Dina Wakley Media acrylics and Dylusions Shimmer paints. Using the palette knife gives so...

Simple MDF decorating with Shiny Silver Treasures papers

Hello you lovely creatives, Thank you for taking the time to look at my latest video. This is a very simple way to use a paper to decorate an MDF shape. Inspiration for using Shiny Silver Treasure Tags

Hello fellow creatives, This is an inspirational video for using the new tags available from Shiny Silver Treasures. These are pre printed tags with a white base. I find the gel plate doesn’t “give up” the paint as well onto canvas so you get a more aged look. A smoother surface works better. One option would be a wood panel that has been primed maybe. Hope that helps. 😊

    • @angiebartist

I’ve used my palette knife many, many times on my gel press with no issues. As long as you don’t force it into the gel or try to move solidified paints there shouldn’t be an issue, in my experience.

As a rule, you can put oil over acrylic (or under on the gelli plate) but not acrylic over oil (or vice versa on the gelli plate). Acrylic will not stick permanently to oil paint and will flake off. You should keep this in mind. Once you have put acrylic on the gelli plate, adding oil can cause a problem in the final piece because that acrylic will end up over the oil in the final pice and cause adhesion problems.

    • @gr8fng
      @gr8fng 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Because gelli printing works in reverse the white acrylic in 2nd pull does sit under the oil paint paper when pulled onto paper ❤

PS: first experiment with Griffin oil paints worked fantastic. Even thinned the paint with a little linseed oil. Picked up most of the color from the gel plate with the prints - any left overs I easily cleaned with a few drops of oil on a rag. I used linseed oil - but I'm sure any kitchen oil can be used for that purpose. Also an alkyd medium ( Liquin from Winsor Newton) mixed with any of the oil paints you have - would shorten the drying time. I have a fire going in the wood stove - and I know tomorrow morning my prints will be dry. - good luck - enjoy!

On the info sheet that comes with every gelli plate it says it can be used with watermixable oils, so I looked it up and found your video. I'm so glad you shared this with us because I probably wouldn't have dared to risk ruining my gel plate. Not to mention that I'd never even have thought of pulling oil paint with acrylic! I think this will allow me to experiment with more traditional monotype techniques where you cover a plate with ink and then remove it in areas to create your image. Very excited to experiment now that I've seen what's possible.
