Handmade Paper on a Canvas

Hello Fellow Crafters and Creatives!
Here is a time lapsed video showing a really simple way to make an effective abstract canvas.
I started with some wonderful handmade papers from Dolly Dimples. These come in a range of sizes and I have managed to get my hands on the GIGANTIC sheets. That gives me much more scope, although I use smaller pieces in this video.
I used several different types of sprays to colour the papers. Sometimes we can become obsessed with a specific brand or type of spray or paint or ink. It's good doing a piece like this as you can colour each of the individual pieces with different mediums. You could even use those papers you have left from practicing or from gel printing. It is a very versatile method.
I have actually left the canvas white, which is almost unheard of for me! But I think this really show off the papers. This paper is especially good as there is lots of texture in it, which provides interest to the viewer.
The embellishments I added were pieces of paper clay which I had previously hand moulded and added texture to using stencils and stamps. The clay started off in different colours as I was experimenting with how it took colours. The pieces I didn't like the outcome of are the ones I then painted and sprayed to make these. The advantage of paper clay is that you can quite literally tear it like paper, giving a cool broken edge, or allowing one piece to be used on more than one project. It is a new medium to me but I think it will be popping up with some regularity.

The papers give such a cool dimension without any effort or you can take it further with dry brushing and texture pastes. It was fun to do. 😀
