My brother, is incredible how much you've gotten out of your car! I don't think the loud clicking is your injectors. Sure, they are direct fuel injectors and they are louder, but they shouldn't be louder over time. You may want to look into having your intake/exhaust valves checked out for clearance and adjustment or you can DIY. I had it done on my wife's 2009 Honda Fit because of a misfire and a higher engine temperature issue, which also made it consume oil. After the adjustment, all issues have been resolved not to mention that is quieter and power is back as if it was new. Is now at 230,000+ miles with none of these problems, I just gotta watch out for it for the next round if needed.

38 MPG on the highway? My 2008 Civic LX gets 38+ MPG highway. 1.8L no turbo. Still looks and drives like new at 16 years old. I've done transmission drain and fills every 35k miles. Only have 165k miles. 10+ years no car payment, and I expect another 10+ years. Only issues / fixes it's needed is a new starter at 10 years and new a/c compressor, also at 10 years. I also have a 2012 Toyota FJ Cruisers with just 85k miles. This FJ may last another 20+ years, it's barely broken in at 12 years old.

Wow that's a lot of miles! I have a 2008 Civic, 8th gen. Only 165k miles so far. Perfectly maintained, even transmission drain and fills every 35k miles. 16 years old now, I hope it lasts another 16 years, I think it will. *Edit* - Only repairs needed so far has been new A/C compressor & new starter. Everything else I've done was just standard maintenance: break pads a few times, new rotors twice (just front, my LX has rear drums, they got new shoes @ 120k still original drums), spark plugs @ 120k just as preventative no issues, batteries (usually every 5 years, they never die on me, but I can often tell in winter if a battery is starting slower in cold weather and then I replace), tires, fluids.

Turbos get hot, these engines are stuffed in small designs, no breathing room; the engines orientation in hot climates is a convection oven for all the plastics, I have a 150k 2013 encore ecotech and the turbo is giving me problems with boost leaks. Had to remove place most parts next to the head that were plastic to metal. I’ve been researching Honda in future but turbos are just another mechanical system to maintain. The question is do you want an extra system to maintain when you buy a car with turbo. 🫠

Let me guess... original tires on that car, too?!? I'm going to have to call B.S. on that mileage. You claim that you racked up that mileage in just 6 years. (A 2017 model shown in 2023.) That's over 350 miles of driving EVERY SINGLE DAY of those 6 years without fail. If you averaged 60 miles per hour, that's 5 hours and 53 minutes of driving per day. Every day. Non-stop. For 6 years straight. No sick days. No weekends. No breaks. EVER. If you only did this for commuting to a job M-F, then that's almost 500 miles a day. 8 hours and 15 minutes of driving averaging 60 mph. Longer than a normal full-time 40 hour work week just driving non-stop. No fuel breaks. No bathroom breaks. No COVID lockdowns. Just drive Drive DRIVE. So... yeah... I'm calling B.S. Even if you bought the car on January 1, 2017 and were reporting that mileage on December 31, 2023 - making it a full 7 years instead of 6 - then that's STILL over 300 miles a day without breaks or 425 miles a day only M-F. My guess is you just hacked the interface (which is apparently easy to do in that Civic) just to drive TH-cam views. That's MUCH easier than actually driving 10 hours a day with breaks for fuel, food, and bathroom. I had a friend hack his to show his company's logo on the startup screen in the dash. Final verdict? TOTAL B.S.

Highway miles

Currently have a 2018 civic si with a little over 62k miles its been on a 27 psi tune for about 30k miles iv3 never had any issues or check engine light. The car has an upgraded intercooler with charge pipes to keep intake temps cooler. I always do oil changes at a maximum of 30% life. I used to work at a honda dealership and did all the maintenance ahead of time like coolant, oil, brake fluid, trans fluid you name it. If you take care of your honda even if you beat on it, itll last you.

Well Honda did start as a piston ring company. The only thing I’ve had issues with a Honda. Is the valve stem seals. Any Honda engine from the 90s that hasn’t been rebuilt those should just be replaced. Or you will burn a lot of oil.

A few grand every couple hundred thousand miles being serviced at a dealer, isn’t really that bad a deal! Ofcourse you can do yourself and save a lot, but still not a bad deal!

So I don’t need to stress about my 2016 accord coupe being at 100k? I’m almost at 100k and I feel like if I get my transmission flushed or change, the random lagging will stop. But also I have a sensor Electric problem too so it’s gotta be one of those. But it’s been a year with that those problems specifically.

I drive the same car since August 2016, you are totally correct about the engine using very little boost, and this is especially true for manual cars, i noticed the turbo comes on earlier and harder on my friend's CVT. By the way I have only done oil and filters changes, brake fluid and one set of tires in 8 years.

You dont need to be an expert to understand that putting a smaller engine with more power and turbos and stuff will make the engine last a lot less than a natural aspirated one... and some of the 1.5L civics now have an oil dilution issue. Why you think that is??

I have a 2017 civic ex - 200,000 miles just hit. I have done all regular maintenance. NEVER replaced my tires (still at a 3 I don’t know how), had both breaks done, rears twice, had issues w windshield wipers but that was repeatedly fixed free at Honda service, I have replaced my windshield due to severe pitting, and I just replaced my sway bars but I need to get my new tires and an alignment. But I disagree I think my girl is fast. She’s been up to 120 but I never have a problem especially driving in non eco mode. Only problems I’ve noticed are USB and Bluetooth issues and sometimes the parking break gets sticky.
