    My question or deal is, even when paint channels, and this is all of them, they show us a view of the clear outside. All fine and dandy but you(in general) are showing the sky and trees.
    What I do to show may friends the true finish differences is put a bottle of something( I use a buffing compound bottle with letters and numbers so you can truly see side by side.)
    Would you be willing to do something similar? Showing outside videos of trees and sky on TH-cam, honestly I can’t tell the difference on your finishes most times.
    All of your data is great, it’s just that to get a true visual of the difference between gun finishes you really need a static shot for a truly unbiased view.
    Thank you for all the data you have accumulated and shared. Truly appreciated!

      Hi buddy, I'm really not sure what you mean, I presume you mean a photo of the reflection of a bottle or something with writing on it ?
      I'm not sure how that makes any difference, to be honest. The idea of moving shots to catch reflection in differing light so you can get an idea of the peel you can expect from the gun or products.
      To be honest, I would have thought a reflection of a bottle or whatever would actually flatter the work rather than be more critical of it
      It's certainly something I will try, as maybe I'm missing something, we will see, cheers, buddy 👍

      @peteshobbies5383 you got the gist of it. I like to snap a picture of a static item like a bottle of soda or the buffing compound for each job, clear and gun so I have a database of which clear works with which gun and temperatures so I can reference that when a customer wants to know “how cheap they can go” I show them the pics. Instead of having to do a separate spray out card I can give them a good idea beforehand. If they want a spray out card for color and material we go from there.
      Just a thought, especially for all your back to back comparisons. Cheers 👍🏼

      @ I just bought a Luma III and they offer an adapter mount for the 717. I guess they are being taken seriously. I credit serious painters like yourself and Triggerman for introducing them to aspiring painters. I am almost 60 and have been painting since I was 12. I still can't get over the finish coat - it's stunning! No orange peel at all, amazing. I'm trying to paint using Rustoleum Gloss black, then clear coat. After that I'm going to airbrush different style blue flames, some by stencil. So far I can't even get the gloss black to spray correctly. Still waiting for the 717 to be delivered. My last attempt wasn't very good - at all. The temperature is around 50 degrees Fahrenheit or 10 Celsius, so I tried 5oz paint, 2oz Acetone, 2 teaspoons of KRYLON Hardener and .654 teaspoon of Japan Dry. It did not dry fast enough and it was all orange peel LOL. When the 717 gets here I'll try a bit more Japan Dry. What is your thought about this concoction? Thank you Pete for another awesome video, can't thank you enough!

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Richard, I don't use Rustoleum paint . Is it a base coat? , so drys to a matte finish? , ready for clear coat?, I know they make many different types.
      If the weather is cool, it's often best just to give it more time to dry than put an accelerator in it, or some heat from a hot air gun, depending on the area you are doing as to how practical that is.
      It sounds like the material may be too thick or you are moving too fast. Have you done a viscosity check?
      The TDS should give you an idea of the viscosity to aim for and the tip size as a guide

      @@peteshobbies5383 Well Pete, Rust-oleum is a DTM ALKYD Enamel. I use it to paint (rattle can) motorcycle frames and parts. It is a great rust preventative and also used for farm equipment. Many colors but I use gloss black. It is a oil based paint and I do use it as a base coat. I can't find any viscosity info, but from online info, the mix is 5-2-1/3. It is a very slow drying paint and will not spray unless thinned. Hell, it's a slow dryer in the summer. I may have to use a different paint, time will tell. What kind of paint do you use for base coat? Thanks for your help Pete, as you can tell, I did a bunch. LOL

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @richardbartlett4075 Hi Richard, I have a few different makes of base coat.
      The one I use most is a Kapci solvent base coat, I have a Kapci System, so I can mix my own colors up to a paint code.
      It sounds like what you are using is designed as a final finish coat, so it is not intended to be clear coated afterward, so it drys to a gloss finish. Is that correct?

    Hi Pete, a brilliant video with two great guns fighting it out for the top spot and there lies the problem🤔how can you split the two as they are both fantastic guns both of which lays the clear superbly well, as you mentioned there isn't much difference between them when it comes to the finish they put out, the 717 does atomise the clear better but does it result in s better finish compared to the 715🤷‍♂
    As you know I have the 717 and I bought the 715 setup for it and they are both very good, I prefer the 715 for basecoat but love them both for laying the clear👌I would like to see a video from you comparing the PRD-715 with the PC-415, apart from the price difference I can't split them for the finish they put out, I'm not sure of the exact price but the 415 is a lot cheaper than the 715 so I think it would be an interesting comparison🤔cheers mate👍

      Hi John, Yes. Both these guns offer superb value and results up there or better than the best 👌
      The PC415 was around 20% cheaper than the PRD715 , it has less thrills, so doesn't have the click fluid control and the like, but, as you say, it performs really well, so does the PRD625 for that matter.
      Cheers mate, good to hear you enjoyed the video 😁

      Yeah as usual your videos are well thought out with a professional look and feel to them. I'm pleased I got my PC-415 when I did as I do wonder if it will be the same price when it comes back in stock🤔
      You mentioned in the video that someone wasn't that impressed with the build quality of these guns, I really don't know how they can think that as IMO it's one of the best made guns available it's right up there (if not better) than the likes of Devilbiss, Iwata and Sata but at a fraction of the price, the only gun that might pip it to the post is some of the Meiji guns like the Finer Core which I will be using for basecoat and clear on my next tank😁👌cheers Pete👍

      Hi mate, I use mine at different pressures for different things, but mostly for HS clear and a super flat finish, I use full fan, full fluid at 1.5bar, which is 22psi, you can use it at 16psi and it still delivers, it's the gun Iwata wish there LPH400 was , cheers buddy

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @Blacksockmafia1 Hi buddy, the gun isn't particularly fast so bumping up the pressure can speed it up, if your using an HS or MS clear the pattern can separate, so bottom heavy, that's why I guess Triggerman turns the fan in, the 1.4 speeds it up and doesn't compromise finish, cheers mate 👍
