    Being an American it is nice to hear someone say the reason they have so many guns is that they are stupid (of course our guns are a little different). Anyway I recently came across your channel while looking for an appropriate spray gun for small aircraft parts. And possibly a cross use on bicycles and hobby car bodies. I can't find any information on the F55 in 0.5mm but your videos on the 0.8mm version make it look like an excellent choice for the larger parts and thicker waterbase aircraft primers.

      @peteshobbies5383  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Buddy, I didn't get the 0.5 version simply because I have a 0.4 and 0.6 LPH50 and a Devilbiss Pro lite S Micro in 0.6 so I'm pretty well covered, so maybe I'm not as stupid as I think I am 🤣😂🤣.
      This 0.8 is actually a really good do it all. For a micro gun, it can handle the relatively thicker materials that a 0.5 can't but still atomises very fine, which is ideal for smaller parts.
      Good to hear you like the channel buddy, thanks for the message 👍

      I'm looking at a waterbased epoxy primer/sealer for some aircraft parts I build. They caution against thinning more than 10% and recommend 1.3mm minimum nozzle size I wonder if 0.8mm is a bridge too far. Some of the parts I'm painting are the size of an American dime, most are smaller than a wallet. I've had a difficult time finding spray guns that don't send those pieces flying across the room. So I'm very interested in low pressure low volume, low velocity paint delivery. You have a lot of good content on your channel. I even find myself watching the videos on the "big" guns. The visual learning while you share tips tricks and techniques is excellent. Looking forward to watching more small gun content!

      I use various high solids clear coats, and they all say 1.2 to 1.3 tips, yet they spray absolutely fine through a 0.8, or 0.4 for that matter, they are reduced by 10% mostly, so no different to a full size gun 1.3 gun.
      I don't know the product you are wishing to use, but certainly most, if not all of the materials I use in the smaller guns are for 1.2, 1.3, or 1.4 tips so I don't think you will have a problem, airbrushs are different but the micro guns seem to work well

    Hi Pete, well that was something different for the channel mate I found it very interesting as like you I'm a fan of anything mechanical but I don't have any formal training but all my jobs I've had were always making/repairing something, I used to be a maintenance engineer for a huge nursery and garden centre doing everything from unblocking drains to building fences and huge polytunnels I even used to make office furniture from scratch, I was around 20 years old when I started there and ended up being the foreman for the department, yes I had a lot of different jobs in my life🤠😂
    Anyway mate you did a fantastic job on the shoe rack and it looked a very professional product, the contrast with the black plates and the brass/copper studding gave it a high end look to it, it did look a bit fiddly to paint but the gun you used was ideal for the job, please feel free to post anything you do mate👌sorry as always for the long comment🙄🤦‍♂cheers mate👍

      Hi John, Yeah, that seems to be people's reactions. Different projects mixed in are fine, so will put some more up.
      Some of the things I do, often finishing signs people don't want on TH-cam, so often can't put anything up, cheers John 👍

    great video pete came out really well, and yes trigger control is something i had to learn in my early days as a painter and has just stuck with me, i dont make adjustments to fluid as i can control it with my trigger its a bit of a dark art but when you get good at it you will never stop and adjust fluid 👍👍👍👍

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi Grant, It's something I should learn but it is difficult when you keep changing guns all the time, maybe that's an excuse, but I don't think so, as its all done on feel and I just don't that that much of a feel for any gun.
      Sure, I can say one is better than another, but I just can't get used to a gun enough to get it right. Having said that, it doesn't seem to affect the work at all, so it isn't high on my list of priorities. Cheers, mate, thanks as always 👍

    To avoid the annoying moving around of the plates while spraying you could put a pen/rod in one of the holes (the rod wrapped around with just enough tape so it fits tight) and use that as a handle to stop the movement. Only con is that there is no paint in the hole but you could solve that later with a small brush.
    I also use this method for parts like a motorcycle brake handle. I mount a wire to the end of the pen and hang it at the wire for drying.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi Harold, Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. There are a few ways of doing it, I sometimes use another wire to pull down on the object, providing it has a leverage point, but often with these little guns, it is not so much of a problem.
      I've never sprayed a brake lever, something I'll have to try, cheers, mate 👍

    Awesome collection of spray guns! I’m new to painting helmets and currently learning the process. I’m planning to invest in my first LPH80 spray gun and would love your advice. What would be the best needle and nozzle size for the LPH80? I’ll mainly be painting helmets and doing some art projects using water-based Createx paints as well as solvent-based paints.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi buddy, Very good choice. The LPH80, along with the LPH50, are ideal.
      I would go with a 1.0 or a 1.2, both should do what you want, the 1.2 would allow you to branch out a little if you wanted to, 1.0 is really all you need if you sticking to manly helmets.
      Also, take note of the TDS of the waterbourn paints you may use. They tend to be thicker, but not always than solvent, so 1.2 may be better, ,cheers 👍

    I'm building an aeroplane in my workshop. I need to spray all components with a 2K conversion primer. Many of the parts are small and hanging on wire and a full size gun is way too much. I need a small , lower cfm and psi gun that won't blow things away, and waste a load of primer. The primer also requires at least a 1.6 nozzle. Any thoughts?

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Simone, The size of the tip required is quite limiting, you would be able to reduce/thin the primer a little to enable a smaller tip size but as I was saying in the video, thinning too much can come back and bite you.
      The only gun that's springs to mind is the Devilbiss Pro Lite S 1.4, which used the be called the Sri Pro Lite, which needs around 2 bar, but only consumes 3.8 cfm with the TE5 cap so doesn't blow stuff all over the place

    • @simonhughes-king
      @simonhughes-king 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@peteshobbies5383 Thanks Pete. I'll have a look at the Pro Lite. It's not an outrageous price. The primer can't be thinned unfortunately, it's a surface oxide conversion process, the manufacturer was adamant. The 1.4 TE5 cap might do the trick though...
      And I will persevere with my R500, see if I can find a decent combination of settings.

      Hi Buddy, it would have done absolutely fine, I have the Porphis in 0.8 and 1.0, so the 0.8 would be perfect.
      I've done a few videos with the MPH338, so I just got the Meiji out to vary the content, really, but the MPH338 is perfectly capable of this sort of stuff 👌

      Hi Mick, It is very, very similar to the LPH80 or LPH50 with the E2 cap. So, not as much output as the E4 but super fine atomisation.
      I keep meaning to do a pattern video of the micro/mini guns, so the Iwatas v the Meijis , so people can see the patterns and size all in one video, cheers mate 👌
