As a ranged DPS, i know i'm expendable. The floor is cozy, i can wait.

There are two things that everyone in XIV needs to know about Raises but the game never teaches in a meaningful way. 1. You do NOT have to accept a Raise immediately. In fact, you get 60 whole seconds to accept before the buff expires and Raise needs to be cast again. This means you can take a few seconds to see what it going on, determine if it's safe to get up, or are you raising right into more danger and putting pressure on healers to divert all their attention into healing you back to full so you don't instantly die again. 2. After getting up from a Raise, a player gains a buff called Transcendent. This gives 5 seconds of invulnerability, but expires as soon as the player performs any abilities or auto attacks. (VERY IMPORTANT: This buff is NOT granted to players revived by a Healer Limit Break). So, when you accept the Raise, instead of going right back into unga bunga, give your healers a chance to heal you up, especially if you chose to accept the Raise as raidwide damage is coming out. Healers can't actually heal you until the animation finishes playing out, and during that time they probably shift their attention to the other two/six people in the party, since they matter just as much as you do. So, unless you're a tank that needs to get aggro right now, let that 5s of LITERAL INVINCIBILITY do its thing. To address the glaring concern with both of my points, yes I am suggesting that DPS take a moment to chill out and not immediately go smashing buttons as soon as they are physically allowed to, which is borderline sacrilege. I get it. But counterpoint, what is the bigger DPS loss? Taking a few more seconds to be able to safely get up, or immediately dying again before getting anything meaningful out, then having to repeat the process of waiting for another Raise? And don't get me started on the new shiny Brink of Death debuff you earned.

i'm a summoner who deliberately keeps swiftcast free to help prevent wipes, but i'm a sprout so people just assume i don't know how to swiftrez or rez at all. like gdi if at least 1-2 other people are down aside from me please just f**king rez me i can handle it

Sis, I’m in love with this encouragement. I am a whm and just completed Crystal Towers for the first time tonight. Overwhelming, to say the least. But I’m learning. Finally feeling more comfy in my role. Love Benediction and Médica 2. Lucid Dreaming is a life saver, so glad when it’s actually available in a dungeon. And I’m finally over potentially ticking off someone because that one random person got mad at me for casting Holy (I’m pretty sure they failed to turn off graphics). Died a few times in those raids today, though. Oops. I’ll get better with some practice.

ok so i watched this a couple weeks ago (when it came out) and the "ovehealing with lilies is fine because its better to keep the gcd spinning than to just walk and do nothing" there is another thing that can count as "wasted gcds" that are still value: Dia is the only healer dot that has on-hit damage, doing 75 potency every time you cast it even if the dot doesnt tick, unlike every other healer dot. if youre out of lilies, and have to move, spamming dia is still more damage, even if it makes xivanalysis scream at you for overcapping dots

Two things ive learned Your dmg is important, get hits in when healing isn't important You can tank aswell as the tank and if you spam heal on yourself or group heals

I don't mind when healers don't raise, they have anywhere from 1 to 7 players to keep alive. No when both healers are down and the two summoners are using their swift cast to DPS and have full MP that's when I get salty. I don't care if its a slight dps lost that in comming raid wide that will drop your DPS to 0 when you are dead. I also get salty when the healers keep raising the summoners knowing that won't raise! This also goes to Red Mages but they are rare to no raise.

If I ever get that question, I don't answer it. Either it's bait or the person asking is ignorant. I'll certainly help them learn mechs and how not to die but if they're asking for advice, but they should be asking why they are lying on the floor to begin with. Now, if on the other hand I'm not playing healer and I notice my group's healer isn't doing enough to keep expected damage from killing us, it's a whole nother story.

If reraise ever came to FF14 it would have to be limited. Possibly a role action used by healers and/or casters. On top of that it should probably have a long cooldown or a debuff like When a Blue Mage explodes themselves. Perhaps they could even start by introducing it for Blue Mage and Beastmasters and test it a bit before using it in the core game.

The reasons healers don't raise you is because they aren't your friend. No one is here for comradery or friendship in an instance. It's about loot and DPS. You can honestly want to get better, etc. but no one really cares. Just understand no one is going to help you if you run into trouble.

I always just assume the healer is busy and doesnt have a swift cast ready.

Meanwhils me hoping not to get rezzed cuz I know I'll die again most instantly...

as a scholar main, i actively choose one dps that is not worth rezzing and designate them to my co-healer in raids. partly because i know my co-healer, which is from my fc, will most likely be the one to kill said dps in the first place.

As a Red Mage main, I can confirm; if the Rez Mage is needed, but I'm in my Glare rotation, I'm only stopping if it's a literal "Rez or Lose" situation.

Is Living Dead reraise? Think about it.

The reasons I haven't rezzed you: 1: Swift cast is on cooldown(not going to catch me casting a revive without swiftcast, there's always something better to do in that time) 2: a live party member is in danger of death(a living member will always have the priority) 3: you've shown a habit of diving straight back into attacking ignoring the invuln time that I can use to heal you after rez(you get 4 seconds or so of invulnerability after resurrection unless you use a skill or autoattack, give your healers at least this long to toss a heal your direction before going back to attacking) 4: you've died... a lot(in this case(and #3), I'll probably not waste the MP, wait for another rezzer) 5: my MP is low(doesn't happen often these days, but sometimes it's just to low to risk spending it on a rez) 6: someone more important is dead(or close to it(lets face it, DPS aren't critical, that other healer or tank on the other hand, those are critical assets, DPS can wait))

The physical pain I feel as a red mage when I see the healer raise the samurai before me 😅

When i am playing summoner my personal rule is i am not res anyone unless 1. Both healers are dead Or 2. The situation turns into absolutely chaos and most of the party is dead ill help with res Other wise my inst cast going towards slipstream everytime

If you keep dying over and over especially to the same mechanic you can just stay lying down on that floor. Wasting my resources… lol

Ill admit i die alot and its typicaly my fault for not getting out of crap. Thats totaly on me. I also no that you should always keep the tank and healers up before anyone else when runing group content. Before healers start focousing on a dps class that needs rezzed they need to focous on the group just common since. I just hope that i do get back on my feet asap to try and help the group but i wont stress about not getting rezzed when the healers are trying to keep the group alive over rezzing.

Imagine being in a party of 3 RDM,1 SMN and 1 BRD, and when all the DPS died (because it’s a blind raid), the healers decided that raising the BRD first is a good idea…

Some DPS are so bad, that Rezzing them is actually a detriment to combat. Once I realize that I'm having to spend too much to heal you and it is costing us the boss clear to keep moving, I'm leaving you on the floor, and each time I've had to make that decision, we clear the boss without that DPS. This usually happens by the 3rd run at a boss, where I realize you are just an idiot falling to the same mechanic that I only died to once on the first attempt. I will not Raise you if you can't figure out how to get off the bright shiny orange indicator by the third try.

Forgot the "This is your 9th death this fight, your DPS is literally not worth the mana and two lost glares."

I once died on a lvl 100 trial and was never ressed. It was funny to see several swift casts on the healer thinking “oh it’s for me!” and then it disappears without res. And funniest part I got 3 commendations after xD Just for laying down third of the fight

as a scholar main, anytime my fairy isnt healing due to everyone at full HP, that could also technically be considered over-healing. i can go through praetorium without casting a SINGLE GCD (except pre pull Adlo) because of my oGCDs and the passive fairy heal
