Happy to find someone who can approach the subject so chill, so encouraging, gently incentivizing without demanding. It's a breath of fresh air over feeling like the teaching is more of an inquisition.
WHM was the first healer I played and even to this day I don't use everything in my kit but I've definitely gotten better at using things like benny and thin air
Right?! I accidently fell into being the healer for a group of friends and I am starting to remember to use abilities like Thin Air, though I am very much a Sage Healer at heart.
note that it's a lot better to use thin air on high-mp cost spells than glare/holy! even if you overcap charges for 1 minute to spend it on a medica 2/3, rather than spending those 2 charges on glares, you've saved an extra 200mp (1000 vs 2x400.) this increases exponentially if you use it on cure 3 or raise. a single raise usage is equal to 6 minutes worth of glare usages. that said, if you're struggling for mp in general, having thin air to help you get *some* mp is far better than not using it at all! while whm's mp efficiency might be some of the best as a healer, to the point where i find my usage of non-lily heals in savage runs being almost none has lucid capping my mp, having thin air to rely on to help get mp back after death (or other scenario which has significantly dropped your mp) is a godsend. can't use ethers while potions are on cooldown!
Absolutely! I definitely save one charge for 'oh shit' scenarios in prog or... specifically for raises in 24 mans, but if I'm doing daily dungeons, I kind of just throw it in wherever.
I have my Swiftcast, Raise, and Thin Air buttons all next to each other so I pretty much use Thin Air for every single Raise. That said, I'm guilty of not using Thin Air for pretty much anything other than Raise. MP management just doesn't seem to be a big concern in this game, especially with liberal use of Lucid Dreaming. I've heard it's more of an issue in Extreme and Savage content..? I wouldn't know. I can't make the time commitment for that type of content.
Sometimes I forget about it, other times I press it but it decided not to activate. I blame the 1st one on the fact I generally play sage if I'm going to be a healer
Even if you assume you'd use it on something basic like Cure II, every second you don't have Thin Air's CD rolling is 16 mana wasted. If you ever have mana problems on WHM post-58, you're probably not fully utilizing Thin Air. (Or the party's trying to recover from a near-wipe)
Agreed, but I think if you're having mana issues on WHM (non wipe related) it's probably a lot more than thin air! Probably some improper ability and lucid dream usage as well. I will say I DO hold my thin airs in 24 mans for raises specifically XD
I can't fault them, WHM is at what 34% MP per minute before lucid now? A part of me is worried that they'll just throw more glareIV's into our 2 minute as new way to "Slap a 50" on it. Cool, more damage, but having double scholar's mp per minute just seems a bit wrong. Exorbitant amounts of MP aside, it's also very easy to fall asleep on WHM when everything is running so well with a group. Other times you just get an eager overgeared shield healer and you enter the mythical second monitor glare-mage-game-state. Frankly when you have a job designed to allow for a player to physically sing Maroon 5's Payphone as a part of it's expected rotation, it's understandable to forget a thin-air or five.
@@EverydayEorzean I want to believe it started in p8s, but it was probably a destiny 2 meme. If you're curious as far as XIV is concerned it's "DPS vs Healers in P8S Week 1." A new version of this is made almost every tier now. Current version is Honey Bee Alarm Pheromone 1 as "Ranged vs Melee Honey B Lovely." Looking forward to the Chaotic Alliance raid versions of this.
scholar has a massive ogcd kit which imo makes up for having less mp generation, when played well it really doesn't need it (read: when you're not spamming gcd shields every other spell.) i think square expects whm players to *not* be able to use lilies to manage their mp properly, which isn't an expectation that carries over regarding sch players using their kit. when whm is designed to be the newbie-friendly healer, i think its understandable, but having something to do with all our excess mp would be nice!!
I dont play the game for a month and suddenly WHM dont use Thin Air anymore? Whats happening to the world? Has everyone gone mad! *crazy healers noises*

lol, that is a huge compliment. Thank you!
This is the first time I've been called out in a video. RIP. jk I do appreciate the video lol

So glad to see you back, you have such a cozy vibe.
Love to see you making videos again! Love your content :D
So what sped-up subliminal message am I hearing at 2:41? 🤔
Definitely bring me a latte... I'll do better next time.
I was going to slow it down in software--assuming I remembered and I felt like it. You saved me the trouble. 🤣

Wait, are there really WHMs that don't use Thin Air? If you don't use Thin Air you belong in the same bucket as WHMs that go Freecure fishing
Okay okay okay that's a little harsh! Baby Healers gotta fish man! (kidding kidding)

I haven't played in a while, did they really nerf thin air down to one cast?
Sort of - instead of a window now you get two charges of it. So it's kind of better..... situation dependent.... kind of.
