But costs may be best with a locksmith. Once you get your 2nd key, you can use this method. Thank you for watching.

    We have the same exact issue on our 97 Wrangler! Replaced all the things, even the distributor cap and rotor button… It’s still squeaking! Driving me absolutely INSANE!!! Any suggestions?

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for watching. i have a few questions and will probably suggest things you have done, but want to walk through my thoughts with you. First, on the video, specifically the way this was found is I removed the belt to do a short test start of the engine. Did you try this? Once I realized the squeak was still there, it eliminated all of the accessories (Alternator pulley & bearing, idler pulleys, harmonic balancer, A/C, water pump, power steering pump, etc.). It also eliminated the belt being too loose and squeaking. So I was left with only internal engine components and one area was the distributor (not the cap or rotor, but the shaft into the assembly. So when I took a thin wire and applied oil (you can start with WD40 but that doesn't last long) to the shaft itself as shown in the video and gave the oil time to lubricate (a few minutes), the sound went away. I had learned that this is an area that can get blocked from lubrication and cause this squeak. This is something I would try if you have validated all accessories as noted above then I would say test your system by removing the belt completely for a short test. Just start it and listen to it for 30 seconds. Sometimes the squeak can remain constant and sometimes it increases with RPM. I also assume this is a parked vehicle squeak and not one that occurs only when driving. That would open it up to a larger range of potential issues. Testing the accessories can be time consuming as well. For example, I loosen the belt to get access to some idler pulleys and slowly rotate the pulley to just feel if I can tell if there is a slight grind or hitch in the full 360 degree movement. This small occurrence could result in the squeak when in load. Normally idler pulleys are the first culprits. When is the last time idler pulleys were replaced, I ask normally because other items such as alternators end up getting replaced. Does your Jeep have A/C? If so does it sound different when the A/C is turned on versus off? You can also use a mechanics stethoscope which you can buy at Harbor Freight. It is a long thin rod extension which has ear plugs to help you isolate the sound which travels up the rod when placed near the item with the squeak. THIS MUST BE DONE SAFELY because you are doing it around moving parts. You may be able to find examples on TH-cam. I hope something I wrote may add some value. You can always message me on Instagram or X (twitter) if you have more questions as well.

    What is the reason for keeping 10 wraps at the end and not just taking it all the way out? thank you.

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is only to exercise it when it has been sitting letting it turn over. Taking it all the way out is not an issue. Just when you do that it should be in a situation where there is tension on the line for the entire wrapping process. Doing it by hand will leave variable tension on the entire line. Only having the variable tension on the first 10 wraps is not an issue because you pull the line through that when using the winch.

      Thank you for sharing. What is the big challenge for your specific Jeep? Is it the red locking tab that’s creating the issue ? Or the sensor itself just does not come out.

    • @berniehatt8338
      @berniehatt8338 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's the sensor itself. Tab was a bit of a pain but finally got it. I have a 2012 Wrangler and in Nova Scotia where rust is an issue. The hole doesn't look rusted though.

      OK, I understand. Let me know what you find and we will post it. I like to share anything new someone could run into on each job. Never had the sensor stick just the red tab. I have soaked the bolt with PB Blaster for multiple hours to get it lose. The replacement part is made of hard plastic so maybe it is just the road grime and build up around it. Thank you for sharing.

    love the way you showed all the removed parts BEFORE so we had an idea of where this was going. The BIGGEST problem with this job was that the insert nut actually attached to the bumper decided to become un-attached making the removal of that bumper to frame bracket impossible to remove as the nut just spun in the hole. It is possible to yank the bumper off with some creative maneuvering. IF your are replacing the same bumper, getting it back in with the bracket attached is possible but requires some brute force and levering it in. Possible but no fun. Fortunately, this time I am replacing the bumper so I'll that aggravation. Great video thanks !

    Hey bud. Question... just did my rockers for the tick in my 2012 jk 3.6. 2 weeks later i get the infamous P0390 code. Camshaft sensor error bank 2.. i replaced both sides with OEM , changed the oil and filter and also spliced in new pigtails on the Cam sensors. I got about 200 miles and the error keeps coming back. I can clear the code and I'm good for a while but it keeps coming back. Any thoughts.? I'm at a total loss. Thanks 👍 oh also did the oem crank sensor too.

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage หลายเดือนก่อน

      First, thank you for watching our channel. I hope the video helped. For your question, realize troubleshooting remotely, is me trying to put my basic troubleshooting checks in written form but sometimes when you’re there looking at everything, you can see other potential issues. When I see this fault, I first immediately think of either wiring and connection or replacing the sensor. So you replaced the sensor, just make sure the sensors are seated correctly, then I think of wiring and connection. Since you said you spliced the pigtail, it just makes me wonder if anything could’ve happened there. This error happened after you did the initial work so it wasn’t there before. I think something may have happened with the wiring or the connection. By replacing the sensors you’ve eliminated that being an issue so now it leads me back to Validating there are no issues with the wiring harness or connection. I hope I read everything correctly. Are you getting any other codes?

    • @wackz
      @wackz หลายเดือนก่อน

      The code started out of no where. It wasn't the work I did. So when I got the code I changed the cam sensors. Then I tested the voltage.. all was fine.. error came back so I decided to rewire the pigtails. 100 miles later code is back. I did a relearn and was able to get 200 miles before code came back. All parts are OEM . Also changed crank sensor. Oil and filter.. I can delete the code but it just a matter of time when it'll come back. And I don't have to be doing anything... it can be just idle and it will pop up... right now I deleted it.. no issues for 20 miles YET! Thanks

      I see your name references TX so I assume you are in Texas. Call the Jeep Slop Shop in Kemah, Texas. They do many engine swaps and may know of some options or have one. Most of who I know who would have one is due to some damage and it needs to be rebuilt. There are some rebuilt crate 3.6L online as well. There are many online as well but you may find once you pay for shipping, it may be better to pick one up from a shop.

    Lets not over look the 2nd temp sensor.. its not a coolant sensor cause theres no coolant invlolved , jmo. And its not at the rear of block or head near firewall, according to some other tube geniuses, the rear sensor only runs the gauge. Well i call b.s. on that both those sensors tie into the same harness ground an i say the both greatly effect performance on way out by changing your fuel air ratio according to temp. What a nightmare, hope this helps anyone: 2nd sensor, intake manifold between power steering pump and throttle body, same size and connector as thermo housing but no coolant. Until she finally threw a code 1 faithful afternoon my jeep acted as if possed by demons, especially until completely warmed up

      @@JohnsJeepGarage Doesn't hurt to check while ya got it opened up right ? The only reason I looked at mine was because I read several others on the Jk forums with the same issue. I snuck a 13 box wrench behind the chain loosened them cleaned them in place and blue loctite before wrenching them back down TIGHT

    Can the backseat be laid down in the opposite direction in case you want to sleep in your jeep? Is that a doable thing?

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could loosely but it won’t connect. Option - But pack a thick pad you can roll up and store in the back and then roll out when you sleep. Place the seat outside. A 2 door Jeep is too short for me to sleep in but it may work with a pad. Thank you for watching.

    I used a Dremel with a cut-off wheel to remove the rusted nuts. Better control than a grinder, less chance of damage. Just can't get the door pins out of the hinges. After a week of daily PB Blaster spraying, I removed the hinges from the doors, put them in a vise, and heated them with a propane torch for five minutes. Then they hammered out.

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m sure you have done this, but I have had to let PB blaster soak for almost a day to help provide some reduction in friction. And if you can get it to move slightly, then add additional PB blaster, which may be able to reach additional areas because it has moved. Worst case scenario, which I tried to avoid is replacing the hinges. Thank you for watching our channel.

    Good video thanks I used for my valve cover replacement….i got everything back together and I had lights on the dash, but it won’t crank over when you go to start. There’s nothing have any ideas. I really would appreciate it.

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry to hear that. I can offer some troubleshooting suggestions but also have a couple questions. If it doesn't crank or even turn over, I believe you may have disconnected something in the fusebox or possibly blown a fuse. When it doesn't turn over ... I think fuse, battery and alternator (if you disconnected it). If it turns over but doesn't start, then I look back at the connections for the ignition coils or fuel injectors. Since it started before you did this, I can only think of what may have changed.
