American Reacts to Berlin | Food & Monuments
Hey World Creators!
Today we return the funky and unique city of Berlin!
This time we are joined by a friend of the channel, Colby!
We are both Americans living in Europe and found some interesting things in Berlin. I thought it would be interesting to share our reactions to Germany and Berlin in this video. We see various different memorials around the city as well as try a few staple German snacks. If you would like to see a more comprehensive Berlin city tour, be sure to check out my other video showcasing "Alternative sites in berlin." There are a LOT of things to see and do in Berlin, this is just the tip of the tip of the iceberg, even from a historical or monument stand point. IN this video we visit the Victory column, the Bundesstag building, eat a German Brezel, visit the holocaust memorial, check point charlie, and the soviet war memorial.
Enjoy Americans Reacting to Berlin!

This was super helpful! I was headed there tomorrow . I was curious when they legally allow us to show up in AM to start hiking the trail? I did an hour up with my fiancee on that trail but we had plans for the afternoon, so I wanted to go first thing in AM to maybe catch up sunrise
I love this Springleague

Pro Tip from a German: DO NOT EAT SAUERKRAUT. That shit is really healthy and good for you, but it fucks up your stomach much more than e.g. Beans
You guys say it better than others 😂 I hear people say “brat-worst” 🤣
Do you think it’s a good idea to swim there in this month?
Fyi: its different in every "landkreis". For us, we have our "own" paper-bin and/or can go to the nearest recycling center (which is further than 1 km). But no public paper bin
As a German-American based in Germany, I hate having to travel 2 kilometers just to get rid of ikea boxes (people kept vandalizing the trashcans around here so our city district just took them away entirely 😭✨)
Helpful information
lucky! glad u made it.
Thank you! Me too. Definitely learned some lessons that day 😂
2022 was my first time at Wacken, and I had an AMAZING time!! I'm going again this year, and I can't wait.
Same story here! Hope to see you there! 🤘
Thinking about Graspop this year, how handy to run across this useful video, cheers Chris 🤘
Hi chris! Thank you for this video. I bought the ticket for saturday with some friends. Its the first time for us at gmm, the lineup of saturday is crazy! Any tips to see as much of them as possible? And will the headliners take turns playing on the main stage? Thank you again❤
The headliners will alternate between stages. Band A plays one stage while band B sets up on the other stage in the meantime. There's no more than 10 minutes of no bands playing on those stages. Waiting for GP to give us this years timetable so I can start planning.
I had it today the cheese wheel is really good
Hey Chris, nice video you did to help people, I will actually save this video for my 2025 trip to EU :) Im planning to attend on Graspop and HellFest (thats way im planning A LOT earlier haha), but the question is: 1 festival can be tiring, but it will be a dream come true. Would you think that going on 2 metal festivals can be kinda extreme? because you will need some time to relax and probably get ready to leave the country soon (if you plan to travel for another countries/cities ) for like 20 days. Also, any recommendations on which country you had the best experience in general so far? My biggest motivation are the festivals, but if im there, what are the things/places that You have to see/experience? in your opinion, of course.
Is Deep Ellum a safe place to visit as a tourist?, at night??
Thank you for that amazing adventure I really enjoyed those days. 💙
Never forget your family from WW2 of your Dad or Son because if you do they will be dead after WW2 and if you don’t forget your Dad and Son you will still remember your father and son.
There is a team called the Seamen. That's hilarious and awesome.
And they suck
We have better technology than you have in Germany!!!!
Starting a conversation in German is always an ice breaker. It shows your respect and your will to integrate. Your German is rather good. Schnitzel: Go to a butcher and buy the meat they recommend, flatten in heavily. Salt, pepper, flour, eggs, Semmelbrösel, butter and a lemon if you like. Thats it. You can´t go wrong with it. And it tastes so much better than a prebreaded ones.
Best italian food: Gallo Nero, Essen-Kettwig
Grüsse aus Kettwig … interessanter Überblick
Welcome to Germany! I think you already do a pretty good job with your German pronunciation 👍🏻. I have to admit that Essen is not the prettiest town to choose but at least you are close to Düsseldorf. By the way, Essen is my home town but moved a long time ago. I hope you will have an awesome time in Germany 👍🏻
How do like living in a civilised country?

If you liked the Hungarian version of cabbage rolls, then you need to dig deeper into that dish. Every Balkan country has their own version of it, heck every family has its own recipe. ^^ In former Yugolslavian states such as Slovenija, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, et cetera...they all have this dish and it is called Sarma there. Try a Sarma with some homemade mashed potatoes, but European/Balkan style mashed ones, not American.. ^^ Next would be then stuffed bell peppers. The inside is minced meat and rice with parsley and s& lots of p, paprika powder, garlic. The rice is filled in the meat in raw condition. This is no good right after done, because it is still kind of hard. Turn the heat off, lid on leave it there for two to three hours sitting/soaking. After that the rice expanded so much, it made everything fluffy . Use green bell peppers only. For the sauce: Red bell peppers bake in the oven and turn until every side was once up. If they brun their skin and get smokey, even better. like 40 minutes at 200°C and no, I am not converting that. Let them cool them down a while, then peel the skin and seeds to get filets. Don't throw the juices away, do it over a sieve with a bowl below. Fry onions/garlic in some neutral oil until glossy, but not brown, so slowly. Add some tomato paste, fry that too, turn the heat up, add a pinch of sugar and be quick, add the filets and stir, add some thin veggie broth to deglaze it and let that cook for 40 minutes, until everything is supersoft. Use a hand blender to make all that a smooth sauce. Pour the sauce an inch high in a large baking pan, where all the stuffed paprika fit in standing up, so where the stem was and now the meat/rice filling is in look to the sky. So, arrange and allign the bell peppers in the baking pan, and then pour the rest of the sauce all over them. You need to have so much sauce it covers them either entirely or almost entirely. Lid on that huge baking pan. Bräter it's called here. Put that thing in the oven for an hour at 200 °C, turn it off and serve that with mashed potatoes...well, after that resting time, don't forget that.
Where are you originally from, Chris?
Bike capitol of the World Kobnhavn? Ehm, are you sure? Because Amsterdam, d'uh!? Freiburg in Germany has more bikes, than citizens.
Copenhagen and Amsterdam are certainly on the same level and in Germany Münster still has the reputation of being the cycling city.

You can't eat Brezeln in Berlin, they don't know how to make them, try them from southern Germany. And can Brezeln go with butter, but go never with "cheese".
Good to know! I definitely enjoyed my Brezel in Munich last summer, but I will have to try another one down south soon! :)
Should have 100k likea
Thanks for the encouragement! We'll get there, slowly but surely!

Great video Hansel and Gretel! 😁
I thought it was pretty funny! So random, but turned out kinda cool. 🙂
Berlin is amazing but the hustle bustle of people around it really fascinates me! 😮Your vlogs are really good, glad I am an early subscriber, soon you will have in thousands. Like and support from Bangalore
It is true! There is so much going on in Berlin, people living their life everywhere. Glad to have you here! If you have any questions I didn't answer, lmk! :)
Hmmm you eat something without cheese or peanut butter?
On special occasions we can go without 😉😆
What about the holy schnitzel
A debate older than Germany itself!
Thats sounds good😊
Dude the size of your rucksack for a day hike. I really surprised you didn't have tent and sleeping system in it. Wouldn't of needed panic on top at night then.
Yea, I did have a sleeping bag... worst case scenario I could have tried to find something, and that was definitely in consideration. But I had no food and didn't want to sleep too close to Any cliff or embankment. But definitely should have been more prepared! Thanks for the feedback.
I LOVE GERMANY ❤❤MY PEOPLE
