    Wow. Your videos have helped me out a lot. But my poor baby she came out of surgery yesterday and she is definitely not progressing like Hank 😩. He is just laying down in her stroller , won’t move , doesn’t want to drink or eat , doesn’t even want to walk when I take her out and put the sling on her. And her scar/ stitching are BAD looks like they just out a chunk of meat and sewed it together 😢

    RuffWear makes a climbing harness with a handle that works great for orthopedic surgery. The harness should just be left on so as to avoid over-manipulation right after surgery. I would recommend wet food like fresh chicken and steak instead of dry, carb laden kibble. The fresh, moist, real food can be introduced before surgery. For balanced meals, there are several commercial, lightly cooked diets that are low carb and made by reputable companies. The better the nutrition, the better the healing and the better the quality of life and health of joints long term. Hank is a lucky boy to have such caring owners. Thanks for the video.

    Our morkie just had the surgery - stage 3 luxating patella. Floating all over the place. She had a fully exposed incision area which is different from what you had. Definitely a challenge to keep her from getting zoomies and running around horseplaying. Anyway, hope Hank is doing well, Courtney.

    Thank you so much for posting this video! I am a veterinary student and there was a technical issue in recording the lecture on patellar luxation so I have the notes but am unable to look at the gait videos, thank you for showing us Hank's gait! The slowed down videos were particularly helpful too, when you're not used to seeing abnormalities slowing it down really helps to visualize it. I hope Hank continued to have a good life after surgery, you're clearly a very attentive and caring owner for looking after him so closely!

My pup hates the ice, and I am having a really difficult time… I know it’s very important, but he resists, and flops around so much that I am terrified he is going to injure himself. Courtney very very good and informative series. My English Bulldog has been diagnosed with a stage III Luxating Patella also. I have not been told at this time that his ACL is not intact. He is 2 1/2 yrs old. It sounds like you would like you are from the Midwest. I plan to take him to the UNIV of WI Veterinary School which is supposed one of the best in the country. His first consultation will be a 4 hr exam ( so a very thorough exam) and then at that point he will be diagnosed as to how to proceed. Thanks again for the video series so I know what to " really expect" once he is sent home. I have been told that he will be staying overnight with his team to include check ups with his anesthesiologist to make sure he is not having any severe reactions for the surgery and anesthesia that was administered.

    This video was so helpful. I had noticed my mini poodle circle her left hind leg out when running sometimes too. My agility instructor said it was similar to a gait that another poodle she trains had who had recently been diagnosed with Patella Luxation. This video inspired me to take a video of my poodle and show the vet. Thankfully we’re catching it early. Videos like this will help others too. Thank you.

    • @leanne4006
      @leanne4006 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jimbo0o617 I am due to have the vet check her out soon (I was waiting until her due checkup to cover it then). I’m quite practical about it though so it means I’m not getting anxious about it. I figure it’s quite a common issue and subsequently a very common and straight forward procedure. Catching it early when they’re young like we have with ours is the best possible time really. Less risk during surgery, high chance of fast and uncomplicated recovery. I intend to do agility with my girl competitively so will be getting this sorted as soon as diagnosis is made (pending vet recommendations of course).

    hi, quick question, did hank end up getting the implants removed? our little guy had the same surgery almost 12 weeks ago and he’s still having problems. The doc said that if his leg is going to continue to get irritated due to the implant, they would need to remove it. We are a little worried about removing the implants, concerned that it may affect his bone healing.
