Generally, this pencil is really well-designed and feel great in hand. But it is not for everyone. My recommendations in this video don't applied to everyone, to be honest, I believe everyone would consider a lot before paying for such a high-end pencil. If you know you always hold your pencil at very low angle (like 30 degree) then the automatic system would either be useless or annoy you if y...

I'm into pencils and it's maybe a coincidence that my favorite pencil brands also start with letter "P", such as Pilot, Platinum and Pentel. This may change in future as I continue to have more pencils. For this reason, I was not hesitant ordering a fancy Platinum which is matte black!!! I was excited taking it out the box... but I soon realized it is not as what I expected...

    I actually have four of the Orenznero, a 0.2mm, a 0.3mm, and two 0.5mm. One of my 0.5mm is really used heavily, so the body has become shiny. The Orenznero is one of my only black colored pencils. Most of my pencils are blue, purple, pink, and green and other fun colors. I fell in love with the automatic function and the retractable lead sleeve. My Pilot S3 which is one of my favorite pencils does not have a retracting lead sleeve so I must be careful when I take it with me. Maybe you can do a video in your native language sometime. I speak a few different languages. Maybe it's a language I know

      @@fanofpencils-cleo774 I have a lot of the Studio Ghibli and some Sanrio special edition pencils. Other times when they make a special edition color for a pencil I like, I pick one up. I have a few Uni Kuru Toga pencils, and I prefer the all plastic ones. I used to have an Advanced model and I didn't like it very much. My favorite Uni is the Alpha Gel Slim though. For Pentel, I have the Orenzneros and some of the Orenz models. I recently got the 0.7mm Orenz to use colored leads in because the Pilot Color Eno leads are quite breakable. Most of my collection though is Pilots though. I have both the 0.5mm and 0.3mm Fure Fure Corone, the 0.3mm AirBlanc, the Symmetry, and the DelFul. I also have some leadholders like the Staedtler 788 (all plastic), Lamy Scribble 3.15, Rotring Primus, Stabilo EasyErgo, and things like that. Anyway, side note, but if you want a "multi-pencil" I recommend the Pentel i+ 3. I have one filled with just the mechanical pencil mechanisms and I put Uni NanoDia Color in them. The mechanisms are more stabilized than other multi pencils (except the discontinued Uni Color 3), so it does not break the colored leads. It's super fun if you want color, but the colored leads are not very vivid 😄

    Cleo, when you make video like that - without voice, it makes me worry - haven't you got a sore throat or something. I hope you were then and still are all good... Although it was all clear without your voice - but with voice it would be even better. ) On subject. It makes impression of a thing from "la belle epoche". Maybe due to its pink gold color of copper and all that flawless simplicity and reliability (at first glance - not neccecery the truth). Is black part also copper? I don't think so - copper would be heavier than aluminum. Although my father once made me a pen out of brass as I went to school for the first time. But it was only half of pen out of brass.

Sore throat can happen from time to time but then you will hear a deep voice haha. Regarding the copper lines on this pencil, unfortunately I believe they are anodized, not made of copper nor brass. Yes, you are right, copper is too heavy and rarely be used to make pens or pencils. By the way, I wish I could see the pen that your father customized for you, it is priceless 😇

    Cleo. I'd like to ask you - don't you notice that some pencils are getting worse as they serve? I mean - my Kuru toga roulette began to break lead from time to time. Or maybe it's lead itself - who is guilty. Maybe lead is not so good or it's aging, drying up and making itself more fragile. Or pipeline of pencile has become not so straight as it used to be. Or clutch began doing something wrong... It's more up to engineers and companies. Interesting - would they agree to show you their production line and explain about serve time of their pencils? )

    • @fanofpencils-cleo774
      @fanofpencils-cleo774 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have the point. The cause of breaking lead could either be the quality of lead itself or be the bending pipeline. You can do a test by removing the current lead and push another down in use, note down the result. And change lead to another brand so see if breaking lead is due to the uneven quality of the lead batch. I don’t think lead gets aging as they should have been annealed in inert gas with clay to bind the graphite and form the rod shape. I think the mixing process of graphite and clay or the uneven size of these particles can cause problem. Pipeline can be a cause too. I experience lead breaking with bending pipeline after I dropped the pencil, no matter how much I tried to straighten the pipe. The tension of bending pipeline doesn’t break the lead when I click it out, it just feels tightly when clicking but when I write the lead starts to break as I add more tension on the lead. Another cause I can think of is that the diameter of leads is bigger than it’s supposed to be. I once replaced leads using unbranded leads and it was horrible, the lead diameter is larger so the lead get so much pressure from the clutch pressing on it. It breaks for sure. You can do some tests by changing leads, switching leads between pencils so observe. There might be other causes too 😊

Mostly 6 or 7 of them lay before me, couple of them are used seldomly, but recently I was building CNC milling machine and heavy 0.9 GG 1000 happened to be useful in such work (as I assumed when I bought it). It's quite hard to be introvert - so I hope with weather getting more and more warm to go out more. Wish you the same warm weather and heart )

      Oh, and for a subject. I'm surprised - there are so many colors of Rotring. Like 4 shades of Rotring. All are good I believe in their functionality. And yes - I'm the person who bought 2 GG 500 only for the purpose to have a pencil for red and one for blue leads. So red Rotring and blue one could be the case for me. But still - what was the original plan in company - red ring on black pencil. And what we have now is far beyond traditions.

    Always so nice to see a quality 2mm lead mechanical pencil. You cannot beat the versatility of being able to sharpen the lead and using it just like a sharpened pencil, or forgo sharpening and have a very wide bold trace. I bet pencil art specialists love it. I'm a much simpler creature, I only use 2mm to write in VERY big letters 😅 Speaking of sharpening, does this Staedtler include any way go sharpen the lead? Or should you get a separate sharpener? 4:41 Since no one mentioned it, the best word for this advance mechanism is "gradual", since you only advance one little bit at a time. You probably knew this by now, but eh, might as well.

    • @fanofpencils-cleo774

      Ja, unfortunately, we have to equip ourselves with separated sharpener or a knife …. Or sanding paper 😅 since the pencil doesn’t include any sharpener under the cap. Yes, gradually advancing sounds good 👌. Thank you! 😊

    Your handwriting, bad? Hah, even back then you were a funny girl. You should see mine. The only compliment I can give it is "clearly legible" because artistically I'm a dried well 😅 I have an Orenz in 0.3 that I like well enough, but so far I like the GraphGear 500 better. My writing pressure is very light and I have the habit of keeping the exposed lead of any pacer only about as long as it wide, so the sleeve protection is redundant. Of course, that was with the 0.3mm lead size. I tried the 0.2mm version recently, and I was so paranoid about shattering the lead that I didn't even test my pressure without the sleeve. But I will concede the Orenz a *huge* advantage: with the sliding sleeve, you have at least 3mm of free lead per click and can write way, way more before needing to advance. This is especially relevant to the 0.7 size, where 3mm can last you _whole pages_ worth of writing. Anyone that likes the comfort of uninterrupted writing can appreciate that.

    That's a surprise. I have only ever seen pens this thin, never a pencil. It actually reminds me a lot of what is known in the US as "bridge pencils", very thin ones given away as promotional gifts and used a lot by housewives in decades past to play bridge and other such games. The Birdy here seems almost perfect to place in the spine of a notebook, agenda or planner. That portability alone makes it worth getting if you write things a lot while on the go.
