    Hi everyone, I hope this video is informative enough without subtitle. Pls. let me know in the comment whether you prefer subtitle :)
    Pentel Graphgear 1000 is a very popular pencil that you can buy easily. People said you can't be wrong with it...
    - Full metal body
    - Retractable sleeve
    - Proper weight
    - Nice grip
    - Affordable price
    Is there any downside? Individually, I guess the gravity point doesn't suit my hand, especially for writing. Anyway, I can't blame Pentel, this pencil is made for drafting not writing. But if you have bigger hands it maybe perfect for you.
    Wish you all a nice day! (^_^)P

      @pbasswil This makes me to recall some memory. I grew up in a poor family ... I still remember when I was a teen, I wanted a pair of shoes which are about $2 for my physical training class. Just because all my friends had those white nice looking shoes, and mine were the cheaper blue ones and still very usable, I asked my mom but she said no.
      So what I did was that I asked for those shoes in my birthday. Of course, my mom bought them for me. It's my dream come true🙂. Thinking back I feel a bit guilty for that😅.
      Dream can be small in other eyes, but it's still a dream!

    Love the style writing the subtitles on screen with the pencil you are reviewing! However how about speeding the video up in post for these sections? At the moment the writing speed is way slower than reading speed (for me anyway!). Any plans to review Kuru Toga?

    Solid and well designed. I have the same issue as you, though: with this model (and with most all-metal mech. pencils), the centre of gravity is not where you grip it, but higher up. So while writing/drawing you have to actively (if unconsciously) keep it from tipping over. I don't like buying plastic pencils, but it seems they're better balanced - or at least you don't notice the weight of their tops resisting your gestures. Maybe an aluminum body, with steel machined grip, would be a good compromise. Anyway, I'm going to try the Graphgear 500, or maybe the Staedtler 925 25.

    • @fanofpencils-cleo774
      @fanofpencils-cleo774  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe that there is nothing wrong with a plastic mechinical pencil. In fact, some plastic pencils I own are my unconscious ly top favorite ones😊. It is easy to tell since I keep going back to it from time to time, just because it fits my hand so well. With this channel, I try to show my own experience on each pencil, regardless materials🙂.
      Thank you for your kind comment!

      @@fanofpencils-cleo774 Plastic pencils can work great. I just prefer to consume as little plastic as possible, since the Pacific Ocean is now forming a new continent out of decaying plastic waste! We don't even know how badly these dissolved plastic particles are effecting creatures & plants, yet.The worst is single-use plastic packaging; but anytime I can buy wood/metal/organic fibre etc instead, I prefer it. Cheers!

    • @fanofpencils-cleo774
      @fanofpencils-cleo774  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree with you, I'm also against single-use plastic. However, for multiple-using products like pencils, plastic saves more energy to produce and generates less polution from production process... Based on some research I read😅.

    • @pbasswil
      @pbasswil 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fanofpencils-cleo774 I've read the same thing, re. energy use. But it's not so simple to calculate the total impact of one material versus another, over their entire life spans. We don't know how badly decayed polymers will effect the ecosystem in the future; we know they disturb hormones and reproduction. So I'm more cautious about plastic. But absolutely, we need to burn less hydrocarbons - and one way we can do that by simply consuming less, e.g., using the stuff we already own instead of buying more. Have a great day!

    I broke mine and split in half because of the plastic in interior, But the staedtler 925 series i sat on it and nothing happened, Maybe they should make the pgg1000 a metal interior to make it sturdier

      Sorry about your GG1000! I think it’d be great if you send an email to Pentel and describe this issue. Big brands normally appreciate feedbacks from consumers to improve their products. I hope they will consider to strengthen that part.

    Good pencil, but I use it not that much. For writing I am used to uni roulette because of its soft touch and to 2 GG 500 for highlighting with color. Not a lot. I can't not to notice its weight and bad balance and that distracts. Other than that it's cool for short notices and trips, mine 0.9 helps in household works sometimes too, but it's pity to spoil.

    Hi, can you tell me please, in your opinion, which pencil can be chosen, for writing (for long time period) and for drafting ( sometimes I draw pictures ) ?

    • @fanofpencils-cleo774
      @fanofpencils-cleo774  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very difficult question :). It depends on many features. For long period writing, I think a medium-thick diameter pencil would be nice, as long as it comes with a comfy grip (I prefer squishy elastomer or rubber grip for long writing). There are some ergonomic pencils in my mind as of now: Pilot Dr. Grip Shaker Play Border (20g), Pilot Delful with retractable tip (20g), Pentel Twist-Erase III (15g) or Platium OLEeNU Shield (9g). I know knurled metal grip has it own fans but long time gripping and pressing against paper for letler-to-letter writing sounds a bit painful for me 😅. On top of that, a nice lead refill will enhance your joyfulness of writing, I prefer soft dark lead in such case, a Stabilo 2B slides butterily on paper without friction, or a Pilot 2B is also smooth. However, if you enjoy a bit slower yet steadier writing, Uni 2B is more suitable. I mean the hardness of leads from different brands are not synchronized, you need to find out which one is your favorite.
      For drafting, i believe steadiness is the key. No shaker, no fancy spinning or boucing features, the less wobbling the better, so I like to stick with basic features: long sleeve, slim-medium grip, light-average weight. I find the design of S Series from Pilot is awesome, it covers all the grip materials people want in one design, of course price is varied depending on what material you like. Personally, I always come bach to my Pilot S3 for drawing. I have just got a S5 and think it's nice for both writing and drawing. Another candidate is Pentel, it has nummerous models that I can't name all here. Sometimes people need to feel a bit of fanciness in the hand to boost creativity, then pick a high-end pencil🙂. No matter what the price is, the most important thing is that it suits your hand.
      I'm not sure if my answer helps you or just messes up your mind😅. Please feel free to ping me, I'm happy to talk about pencils for hours.

      Thanks for advices! I understood what i need and what to buy. I think I need one writing pencil and that's all, no need of drafting pencil if i draw not so much. Am i right? And of course you 100% right about how it suits in my hand)))). Thank you very much))))

    Hello does it have a backweight?

    • @fanofpencils-cleo774
      @fanofpencils-cleo774  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Backweight? I would say no, but it has a balance point locating in the middle. For writing, I generally hold a pencil close to its tip. Hence that point stays off my hand and results in the undesirable back tilting.
      However, if you hold the pencil a bit farther from the tip, it’d be totally fine, especially for drawing.
      Hope this answer your question 🙂

      Yes, you need to get the pencil that has the size 0.5mm noted on its body to use the 0.5mm leads. Pentel GG 1000 pencils are available with 4 sizes of lead: 0.3 | 0.5 | 0.7 | 0.9mm. The one I’m showing in this video is 0.5mm.
