Veri Vinduro - Harrow 2024!

I was out camping and fishing out in Western Victoria recently and came across the VERI Vinduro event at Harrow. Couldn't help myself had to get the camera out and have a chat to a few of the boys about their bikes and met Woody the president so I drilled him for more info. Sorry for poor quality of the footage and audio wasn't expecting to be doing a video while on a fishing trip. Thanks to so...

A last minute trip to the Western District of Victoria. I head across to Havelock to check out an only recently found Avenue Of Honour believed to be the oldest in Australia. Then across to the Grampians and on to Balmoral to camp on the Glenelg River. It was pretty cold but a great trip. :) Victorian History Adventures go to : th-cam.com/video/JYlqro0mZgA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mjPJ4cz9BEihC44r

    I was suprissed you sold the Sherco but read one of your comments about the firm KYB suspension. Yep, you need to be carefull what you wish for. If you buy a competion race bike, it's going to be suspended firm. Not a great dual sport. I recently bought a 2020 Beta 480RR with the Sach suspension. Even the rear on that with everything softened up is still a little firm on square edged bumps. Kinda wished I held onto my DRZ400, that was a much better dualsport.

    • @dirtbikeadv
      @dirtbikeadv 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@EricBanner571 Yeah your spot on with all that. For me I liked the Sherco it ticked a lot of boxes but I would have had to some major work on the suspension. As you said I decided I didn't want a full on race bike. The DRZ was a perfect option if it was just a bit lighter. Was looking at them still as an option as they are pretty cheap as well. There is a fair bit of novelty factor with the TT but if it is an old pig of a thing that's hard to get along with it might not last long as well. Wish the Japs would put more effort into the dual sport market. Good thoughts mate! Thanks for watching Regards Steve

    Did this modification need to be mod-plated at all, and would it be considered legal to have it done without a mod plate, or would it mean you would not be covered by insurance in an accident? Just wanting to be careful. Thanks.

    • @dirtbikeadv
      @dirtbikeadv 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@joelpukallus7340 Hi Joe, yeah good call. I didn't notify my insurer or the registration body. It still allows the fitment of the cat converter for RWC to transfer registration which was my main concern. Other than that it does not improve performance or change handling characteristics so in my humble opinion no mod plates required. An insurance company could not claim in any way that this could contribute to an accident, again in my humble opinion. Having said that make sure you have suitable experience in welding so not to compromise the integrity of the subframe. If concerned talk to and automotive engineer. Thanks for watching Regards Steve

      @dirtbikeadv 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Bruno, yeah so my mate Steve only kept it for about 6 months and moved to WA and so he sold it. The main concern we both had for this offering from Kawasaki was how much torque and how easily it would flame out in the technical stuff. It was really quite good in both these area's and off course on the open stuff it was awesome. As you would expect it had great suspension which was pretty firm as cross country bikes are supposed to be and the gearbox an absolutely beautiful. The air box was quite open so you would have to keep an eye on the air filter. I have had a KTM XCF which is also a cross country bike and probably would rate the Kawasaki better than it. One positive thing about these style of bikes they ride very light and are very agile. Sorry couldn't offer a more long term review. Regards Steve

    Careful Steve, I will school you on which map 😂. There is some solace knowing that none of the map packages are perfect. Hema, good for zoom in and out big picture planning but otherwise it’s seriously wanting in detail. Garmin, explore oz, typically the most consistent for detail and accuracy, maps off line but you have to be a user to ‘know it’, the most reliable! Gaia has the best maps (you can get good quality maps), great for making gPX routes quickly but it’s a pain to download maps to have the offline. As you know I’m a GPX person and on-the-fly navigator. I never use my gear as a nav-man and can’t comment on the spoon-fed functionality.

    Hi, the weight up and back is not the best choice for centering the masses, placing your bag between your saddlebags on the saddle would be better in the event of falls to pick up the bike, it's easier. To have tested both positions. That's what I prefer. Subject to not exceeding 30Liters and little weight inside. The saddle is very long on the PR 7. For weight distribution it is preferable to have slightly larger saddlebags 2 X 20/25L and a small bag on top rather than 2 bag on it. For many years that I have been going on motorcycle raids depending on the length of the trip, it is always a compromise between driving comfort and general comfort. See you soon.

    hi, I just returned from a 3500 KM raid in Morocco solo with the AJP PR7. apart from a small fall where I twisted the crash bar. all went well. for the headlights, I installed an ADVENTURE MEN CAVE LED kit excellent lighting for 280€. it now has 8500 km the valve clearance was checked 0.15/0.16 on the exhaust and 0.13/0.13 on the intake. (still within the tolerance which is 0.15 to 0.20 for the exhaust and 0.10 to 0.15 for the admission) in France, no problem with the wiring and key switch. enjoy your bike. See you soon

      Yeah sounds like a nice trip, a very nice trip. Morocco is on my bucket list. Glad to hear the PR7 went so well the key is the only problem I have had. Still loving mine. Safe Travels, Regards Steve
