    I know this is an old video, but I just found it.I have the 2 quart Lodge Dutch oven and I like the idea of baking potatoes in it, how long did it take to bake them? Thanks and I really enjoyed this video!

    It's a lot cheaper in cost than Field Company.

    I was shopping for a cast iron pizza sheet. I've been using a stone but I'm scared I may crack it eventually. I thought I found a nice round cast iron sheet on Amazon. It was a no named brand and nothing special. At the last second I thought why not check Field Company. I already have a few Field Company frying pans and really like them. I'm so glad I found this. I kninda got an OCD thing and much prefer my stuff to match. This will be a nice addition to my Field Company collection.

      This is definitely a great pan especially for pizzas, smash burgers, breakfast and so much more. I use mine almost exclusively for family gatherings which is about twice a month

    I bought a set in 1978, I think it was five pieces for $200, they are still with me along with newer additions added along the way. Everything is in orange flame, which is my favorite.

      I’m sure your collection has basically paid off because you haven’t had a need to replace every 2 years with the non stick pans. Americas test kitchen has great reviews on enameled cookware. Also that’s where I heard non stick should be replace every 2 years to avoid any harmful forever chemicals

    So these are differentiated from the originals by the lack of the MADE IN USA mark and the addition of the cast number on the handle, correct? Did someone just buy the logo (again)? Or is it someone truly attempting to bring back -- not copy or exploit -- the Wagner Ware name?

    I like the Field. It's lightweight like the old vintage stuff and the handle looks very good and comfortable but no pour spouts is a deal breaker for me so I ended up with a Lancaster which checks all the boxes like my old Griswolds.

  • @ArtofHunter

    Got this new version myself in addition to their No.4. Great skillets. I was also surprised that overlaying my old Griswold on it was almost a 1 to 1 match. So I think it's clear that Lancaster reverse molded a Griswold to make theirs. Even the Griswold lids fit it.

    Its just a rebranded butterpat for the obvious reasons. 200 still is too high imo, but atleast its not 400$. The people that bought that 400$ one probably eat crayons so idk why they needed a pan lol. This one seems to mostly be a competitor for smithy which i get, but both should be a little cheaper for what they are.

      "feild" has a reputation for holding seasoning well, "smithy' does not, check out " hawg wild huey's" ordeal with trying to get seasoning to stick to a "smithy", way to slick, it takes some amount of texture to hold seasoning.............

      @williamhurt8512 thanks. I was very fortunate to have found a 10 and a 12 Field. Plus a smithey. Dirt cheap at my local thrift store. I've used both field. Haven't seasoned the smithey yet.

    • @luisj.castironcooking
      @luisj.castironcooking 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@raymond5194just as William mentioned, the Smithey cooking surface is polished extremely smooth. Which makes it difficult to season but they cook really well because of the mass. Field is lighter and better at building seasoning. With Field Company you have to be careful not to overcook your food. Both are about the same price, and I love them both. I would say I prefer Field Company because how easier it is to maintain and the lighter weight is better suited for every day cooking

      @@luisj.castironcooking I have used Field, Smithey, Lodge, Butter Pat, Stargazer, and Lancaster. I will say that of them all, Lancaster is the best for daily use. My favorite skillet. I stripped it down and only season it with tallow and lard. It's a great skillet.

    Just ordered a DARTO n.20 this morning. Not sure why I've taken such a deep dive into pans but I've always been interested metal tools (axe, hatchet, knives, etc.) and such. I'm considering grinding the handle of the DARTO slightly to round/polish the edges and make a subtle change for a grip area. The handle seems to be a complaint for some and although it won't bother me either way I'll be doing it as an experiment.

      Field is the modern day Griswold. High quality and designed with vintage iron ware in mind. It’s light weight but not too much so it also does well to retain heat. Also I love how the seasoning develops with these skillets

    Not impressed. My OCD doesn't like the 1 sided pour spout and it would limit how I used it and cast iron doesn't need to be that heavy. The handle and helper tab look very field like but the oddest thing of all is that "griddle" that's not a griddle. No handle no tabs nothing. That's basically just a pizza ring. Calling it a griddle is a poor choice as using it as one would be extremely difficult like that. So far the best modern cast iron I like is Lancaster followed by Field.
