Brook trout can only spawn in streams and on springs: their eggs need a flow of fresh clean water over them.

Just get a thermacell. They make a backpacking version that lasts forever. It helps me in June-July when there is thousands of mosquitos.

I want to do it myself, but have no experience.

I received a bite from a copperhead in July of 1968 near Greenbriar, Arkansas. I never saw the snake strike me. I felt the bite and saw the fang marks on my hand. No snake bite kit could be found so I was transported by car to a Doctors office in Greenbriar. He was pretty smart about snake bite and said I was lucky no one found a snake bite kit. Getting carved on by an amateur could have put me into shock. He asked if I had been given Horse Toxin antivenin before and since I hadn't, he injected me with it. There was never much pain and the Dr. said he thought copperheads didn't inject much venom. He also advised that if a snake bite victim could reach a Dr. or hospital in less than 4 hours it was best to nothing more than a tourniquet. I recovered quickly with no side effects at all.

You sir, are an ambassador for the every-day guy/gal who yearns for serenity and adventure. You don't blow us away with technical terms or years of must have experience. You let us know and believe we do not have to be wealthy or super experienced to get out doors and just breath; wether its at a National Park or just exploring the park at the end of our block, thank you 🥺. I love Yosemite . . . not surprised it's the second National Park established. The John Muir Trail is something every human on earth should traverse. That area is life-changing. Thank you my friend . . . ☺‼

Great video! That fishing was fantastic. Were you hiking up in a flannel?! Jeez man, get yourself a hooded sunshirt. They're not expensive (though can be but don't need to be), breathable and usually provide sun protection. Also bring a headnet, though the skeeters seemed epic on this trip. Also give a Thermacell a try. Beautiful fish ypu caught here! Peace!

I enjoy your backpacking & fishing trips. I appreciate all the work that goes into video taping. IMHO i don't know why you don't share the location. So many who videotape fishing the backcountry do. Only real sportsmen & hikers watch these so i wouldn't worry about the area being damaged. Just an opinion.

Those small stream trout are the best

You might also try corn meal to coat the trout before frying. It does a great job cooking the trout.

Remember mosquito netting next time.

FYI Golden Trout are native to The High Sierras! The pink meat taste better. You can catch brook trout at Rock Creek lake, Trumbull Lake & Virginia Lakes! I prefer fishing at Big Virginia & Trumbull Lake over Little Virginia as I get snagged in Little Virginia. There is a campground at Trumbull Lake. You could hike a short distance to Blue lake. Road up is at top of Conway Summit on Hwy 395
