Slowly becoming my favorite fishing channel on the platform, the views, the vibes, immaculate!
That’s a huge compliment dude, thank you! 🙏🏻
Absolutely love that you thanked Jesus for all the fish you guys caught. Knew i liked your videos, and your guys' authentic selves but that took it up a notch, GOD BLESS!
Always 👆🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for watching, I love it when new viewers find the channel!!
Beautiful spot to set up camp. Yosemite in all it's beauty. The deer walking into your camp was amazing!
I’ve never had a deer encounter like that in the backcountry….it was super special.
Love the channel man can't wait for the next one. Yosemite is one of the most beautiful areas in the country for sure. Happy anniversary to you two!
I genuinely was shocked out jaw dropping Yosemite valley was…we’ll definitely be back! Thanks for watchin man 👊🏻
ThT deer looked like a post card amazing congrats 👏🎉
It totally did! We were stunned.
What a lovely place and the fishing was out of this world . . . and congratulations on your beautiful marriage anniversary!!!
Much thanks brotha. Yeah, we got so blessed in the fishing department!
How beautiful. You’re making me want to go back to Yosemite and explore some new trails there
After my research I was very surprised just how many good fishing locations there are in Yosemite!
Happy Anniversary Micah and Dasha!! Another amazing and spectacular journey . . . thank you for allowing us to tag along. Nicely done 💙💙💙‼
Thanks James! 🙏🏻👊🏻
Absolutely breathtaking scenery and atmosphere, brilliant cinematic piece of art my friend!
🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you!
Thanks for sharing Micah! Happy anniversary!!
Wow, what a beautiful place. Thank you for taking us along 👍👍
Man, I miss Yosemite.
It’s waiting for you!
Great video and happy anniversary to you and your wife. Thank you for sharing your experience and appreciate you keeping the exact location to yourself.
Thanks bro!
Dude. Loving everything you put out.
Another great video Micah! Congratulations on 5 years!!
Thank you Dennis!
Always thoroughly enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for watchin! 🙏🏻👊🏻
Great video.
At that first spot at least your leader was very short for a still, clear lake. The 12' fluoro is the gold standard in this situation.
I think this is definitely something to try for the future!
Congratulations on your Anniversary - WHAT A Beautiful trip to such a special place.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
It really is…
Such an awesome trip! I am so happy that your wife shares this with you. She is an awesome fisher person too! From 14 to into my forties, these trips are what I lived for. The Sierras (both sides) are just incredible. From bears to marmots, I have interacted with all of them out there. I don’t think I could go as far as you did at that elevation any more due to back probs and age. ( that’s why I often comment about going up and hunting with your Dad. I may be able to keep up with him) Some of your shots literally brought tears to my eyes. I am furiously combing my Sierra maps looking for hikes in the 3+ mile range that I can still do. Meanwhile, I am reliving some of the best memories of my life through your videos. You have my heartfelt thanks. Please keep up the great work. ❤️ and God Bless
Dang man, what you shared, embodies so much of why I make these videos. You might not be able to go as far as you once did, but you have the memories that will last a lifetime. There are TONS of 3mile hikes or less out there. I wanna turn you to Steve Schalla’s website (I’ll include a link below). His online maps are so incredibly detailed and I know will help you. I use them before every trip.
The hike my dad and I did in the next episode, was also only a 1 mile hike. Check out the Mammoth lakes maps on Steve’s website, you’ll find the lake.

Great video brother! Keep up the great content!
Thanks man, and thanks for watchin!
Dasha is so nonchalant about catching everything all the time.
😂
Awesome video Micah! You make some really great videos dude! We just got back from a camping trip to Yosemite. Just before the big tropical storm hit Southern California. Had a LOT of rain in my home town. We didn’t fish on this trip as we had my girlfriends daughter and her boyfriend with us. It was strictly a site seeing trip. We went from the east entrance to the west, and back again in one day, lol. We camped at Lake Crowley Fish Camp. I plan to make another trip, this time to June Lake with just my boat, towards the end of September, or beginning of October. Hopefully catch not only Trout, but some Fall colors. No camping this time. Will be staying at the June Lake Motel for a few nights. Just my girlfriend and I this time. Sure would be fun to meet you and your wife sometime! Take care and God bless!
You guys hit it at a perfect time! I was surprised how quick of a drive (when there’s no traffic) it is going in and out of Yosemite! Love hearing you’re bringing the whole gang on your trips Mark, June lake in the fall is gonna be picturesque! One of these days, we will link up! 👊🏻
Tentative plan is doing June Lake Sep 28th through Oct 1st.@@UntilJourneysEnd
Amazing videos as always man, can't wait to see them blow up
Thank you John!
Wow, awesome video! Pretty epic spot to camp for a few nights and enjoy some fishing. Looks like you had the lake all to yourself too? Keep these videos coming 😁👍 Well done brother
Thanks Brandon. We saw maybe 10 people while we were out there. It felt as secluded as you’d imagine for Yosemite! We loved it. Thanks man for watchin 👊🏻
Good job nice fishing 🎣
holy smokes guys, what an awesome experience you shared with us, thank you so much.
Our absolute pleasure!
Thanks for sharing your adventure! I look forward to checking out your other videos as well. Though my channel is more ham radio oriented, there are a couple in the mix with similar backpacking and fishing that you might enjoy. One more like this is coming soon too.
Keep up the good work documenting your adventures, and perhaps our paths will cross in the backcountry some time.
Thanks bro. I just checked out your last video with the father and son…loved the story. That’s the way to give back.
Real cool stuff you’re doing with radios too, I’ve never seen anything like that before! I’m sure one of these days, our paths will cross ☺️
Awesome video 😀
This channel is perfect. All love my friend.
😄🙏🏻🙏🏻
Awesome video! Would you mind sharing what trail head you started from?
Dude you’re absolutely killing it! I’m from LA, i love backpacking the sierras and I’m getting into fly fishing so I’m looking how to fly fish high alpine lakes. Thank you so much for being so thorough on the flys your using and technique. Really really helps! And as someone that watches a lot in this genre you’re by far one of the best. Just keep it up you’re going to have insane subs in no time!!
Ps. Just got back from a trip to dinkey lakes on the west sierra. You have to check it out! Tons of Unbelievable lakes!!!
Thanks brotha, that’s a big compliment. It’s great hearing a fellow LA’in is getting out into the mountains! 😄 I’ve read about Dinkey lakes and will definitely get out there one of these days. Thanks man for the tip!
Do more videos with your wife we love Dasha 😁
Hahah, WILL DO
Congratulations on your anniversary! Big fan of your channel! Can you go over your gear? i.e. Backpack, sleeping bag, rod/reel, overall backpack weight. Also, just a recommendation, try the Mountain House Chicken Fettuccini👌
Thank you for the adventures! 🎣⛰️
Thank you Matt! Here’s most of the gear that I use…only things not listed is my backpack is the Gregory Baltoro 65 liter and my sleeping bag is an REI brand which is discontinued:

Good job on the video and editing bud! 🙌
Ps- pretty sure the trees you guys encountered walking down the lake basin were Red Cedars.
Thanks Eugenio! Ahhhh okay sweet, looking into Red Cedars!
Is that a River country tent I see? Bought mine specifically for Lost Coast and I loved it even though the wind was bad and ripped the rear pole eyelet out. Easy trail fix and they sent me a new tent when I asked to buy a repair kit. I think I remember this lake but can't place it. If you want to share, Please send me a personal message of the lake name, In return I will add you to my list of alternative permit holders for Yosemite or other trails off the 395. I usually alternate East or west Sierra every 4 years. That being said, As im getting older and inviting first timers on trips I have been going up the 395 more easy trips with difficult ones being solo or with my GF. Thanks for the great vids over the years. Showing my GF ur Crawfish catch in the Owens, She bought me a trap to bring home tasty mud bugs.
which trailhead did u start this trip frm , micah? awesome to see you and ur wife fishing together!
So do you leave the GoPro continuously recording while hiking? If so the battery seems to last pretty long
Hey buddy this is awesome and congrats on the 5th y anniversary! So great to do these things together. My wife and I love adventuring together too 🙂
I'm heading to Yosemite with my 7 year old son in Feb, and been trying to research a potential backpacking destination.
Given the closure of Tioga road etc, it limits the options. Also looking for something doable given winter conditions...
If anything comes to mind, would you kindly let me know?
I appreciate any ideas!
Keep on adventuring buddy, subscribed to follow !
PS. Excellent work on the thumbnail!
Hey man! Yessss that’s great to hear! 🙌🏻
Oooo February huh? It could very well be pretty snowy up there when you go. I think any lakes at elevation will be frozen over. You could try fishing the Merced, which is artificial catch and release only this time of year. But honestly, I don’t know that area well enough to suggest a backpacking route for winter…my gut tells me to stay at the lower elevations near the Mercede.
Thanks so much buddy appreciate it! Yes exactly my feeling. Looking for a low elevation route...wouldn't bother with fishing this time of year, just looking for a place to camp out with my son for a night. We're going with a camper van so maybe we'll just play it by ear and see if an opportunity opens up. Thanks for the info , greatly appreciated! @@UntilJourneysEnd
@EzeAdventurer Oh dude since you’ll be in a camper van, I’m sure you’ll be able to pull right up to a year round camp site!
One thing to know about Yosemite….you can only car/van camp in designated camp sites. You can’t pull off on the side of the road to sleep for the night, which is a bummer :/
Thanks matey, yes copy that and I know, been researching a lot! Appreciate it dude, we can't wait to visit and hopefully capture some beauty on video!@@UntilJourneysEnd
hello this video was epic and the sceneries are breath taking, im going backpacking for the first time and i'm doing my research right now, i would wanna backpack out here for my first time! what's the trail called?
Very good channel. Subscribing right now. Going to convict lake the 31st coming up can't wait haven't been there in over 9 years
Oh man…So glad you’re gettin back out there dude! I hope you have a blast!
@@UntilJourneysEnd thanks man been watching your videos tryna learn , I'm going to owens river as well to hopefully catch some browns !
@christianbriones6124 Try the Upper Owens below Benton Crossing bridge if you want to catch and keep trout! And above Benton bridge if you don’t mind releasing them and using artificial lures!
The Lower Owens is going to be really tough right now due to the high flows.
@@UntilJourneysEnd thankyou so much for the information!
Congrats on the 5 years!! You ever just bring high sugar snacks like starburst or skittles? They help keep me going on hikes.
I don’t only because of sugar crashes. But dried fruit…that we do!!
Did you guys do it I the middle of the forest
Micah,,,, another awesome video. I got turned on to you by one of Rob's videos at Seaspanker. Where do you get your trail and camping info. Looking to do more tent camping and fishing the obscure lakes. I'm in Hesperia and about 5 hours from the Loop, Yosemite and 3 from the Kern. Thanks. Really appreciate your channel.
Love Rob! I’ve learned so much from that guy. Before every trip, I read Steve Schalla’s maps to find what body of water I want to hike to! He’s an amazing resource, here’s his website 👉🏻 flyfishingthesierra.com/homepage.htm
Maybe a collaboration video with NWFS? Love your channel by the way. It is strange that I only recently found it, with how many fishing and backpacking videos I watch. I hope TH-cam recognizes you soon because you deserve it!
I’m so glad you did find it! One of these days, TH-cam’s bound to figure me out 😄
Love Leif (NWFS), that would be a lot of fun!
Is this cathedral lakes or ten lakes? Or somewhere else?
Brother micah !..happy belated anniversary..what month were y'all at this time ..ty GOD bless
August!
I want to know where is the location at!!! I want to go there also it’s beautiful!!!
Where did you park ? How to I get there
Well, I lost your channel once and couldn't find it anymore. So that won't happen again and I subscribed. Great content you put out. Just one question. You seem to be hiking in very remote places. What should you take in terms of protection from wildlife?
Oh gosh I’m glad you found me! 😂 The TH-cam algorithm doesn’t always make a lot of sense hahah
I pretty much always have bear spray on me. More so for the 1 in 1,000 chance I run into a weirdo. Not so much for wildlife, except for a very rare mountain lion encounter.
@@UntilJourneysEnd Oh wow, you encountered a mountain lion before? I'm really scared of that. Have a video? At least now I'll get updates of your channel and there are plenty of videos to catch upon.
i beg to differ I would take a brook trout all day long they fight way harder then a Rainbow of the same size . great video the sierra is Loaded with Brook trout i am doing a week in September at tioga pass.
Man you must be hooking into a different strain of Brookies then 😆. Have an awesome trip to the Tioga pass bro!
What are your fly rod specs?
My favorite out of my rods is the Mystic Reaper X, 9ft 5 Weight (USA Designed). And reel would be the Galvan Brookie 4/5 (USA designed and manufactured). On this setup I’m using Scientific Anglers Amplitude line (it’s an all around line for dries and nymphs)

Thanks man
You're wrong deer at yosemite are not skittish
Better butts make better hikers? I get it!
Aaaand just like that, the secret is out…
That is an illegal campsite.
Eating your catch is some bait fisher activities man get it together.
Soaking worms or casting flies. We’re all apart of the same family brotha.
When ur girl casts better than you
😂 Hey, I’ll be the 1st to admit, her form is WAY better hahaha
Those fisheries are delicate stop the spin fishing (treble hooks) and try and understand that others release fish so YOU can catch and cook ! and your info is not so accurate, so get informed, take some casting lessons, your filling your ego by catching fish, calm down,a trout brain is the size of a BB so it's not that big of a deal.
STOP IT KAREN !!!
