- We're embarking on a solo backpacking and fishing adventure into the Sierra Nevada mountain range! This was undoubtedly my hardest trip so far, for multiple reasons as you'll find. But, the wild unpredictable nature of the great outdoors is all part of these kinds of experiences. So, let's get on out there and see what journey awaits us!

Good job man nice fishing 🎣
Tomorrow I head up to bishop to do a 5 day backpacking trip in the Sabrina basin area! Bringing only the fly rod to force myself a bit
Heck yeah!!!! You probably just got back…let me know how your trip went!!
@@UntilJourneysEnd Dude it was epic. The lakes were mainly brook trout, and they were small but so beautiful. Caught tones of brooks on drys and nymphs. I was mainly doing a dry dropper setup and then switched to just a fly at the end. Had the whole lake to ourselves because part of the trail was snowed out and it’s unmaintained.
Come on…..sounds like you struck gold dude! Brookies on dries are a great time. And nothing like being the only souls out there….
so glad i found your channel. you have excellent content...i agree with some of the comments, "how do you not have at least 500k subcribers!" i just subscribed and will hit the like button and
share your channel.
I really appreciate the compliment Eddie. One day, TH-cam will figure out what this channel is 😄. Until then, I so appreciate you sharing! 🙏🏻 Get on out there, and make some memories bro!
You had me nervous trying to cross that first time 😂, I could imagine how strong it was! Great vid like usual my bro. The editing at the end was awesome, you match such good music with your shot’s. Tight Line’s
Yeah….I learned the power of snowmelt on this trip 😅😳 And thanks man, I’m real happy to hear you’re enjoying these videos 🙏🏻👊🏻
Pescaria sensacional mano ✌️🇧🇷🤜🤛
Gracias amigo!
Awesome man, not far from me. I've been dying to backpack out in domeland for a good amount of time exploring the small streams out there.
Do it! You’ll make memories that’ll last you forever.
That was another amazing adventure. Thank you for sharing. Nice roll casts, by the way and I really like the idea of a fly/spinning rod combo. Please keep us informed about your take on it.
Thank you! 🙏🏻 And I definitely will.
This was a great adventure!!!
Man. I feel for you losing the camera. I just dropped my good wireless mic in the lake last weekend while filming for my next caamping vid. Too deep to get it. Only had it for 2 months. Good video. Thanks for sharing the real stuff!
Haha thanks man. Gosh and sorry to hear about your mic! The bright side, is considering how often we use equipment outdoors, it’s pretty rare something bad happens 😄
Wow great trip. I was on that trail several times in my 20’s and 30’s. Never saw the creeks anywhere near that full. I was surprised you crossed it being alone. Your wife is gonna give you what for! Lol. Great fishing. I’m really sorry about your camera though. Me? I think I want to travel up and hunt with your Dad!
Haha yeah, she wasn’t thrilled. But neither was I, not doing that again. 😅
Amazing to hear from folks how high it’s been in all the years they’ve been out there….
Missed your adventures man!
🙏🏻🕺🏻🎣
🌲🌲Thank You for another beautiful video. ♥🌲🌲

You do know that wood stoves are banned in California anywhere wood fires have been banned, just as they have banned all alcohol stoves in California despite it being the cleanest burning fuel. I think the wood stove can be used under 10,000 before August or until they start announcing the annual Stage 1 Fire Alerts.

I would love for you to share the names of the lakes, peaks, trails, etc. as you do in some of your videos, but I also understand reasons that you might not want to. Thanks Again for your videos.
Lots of Rules and Regulations - Even more in Wilderness Areas
man what a blessing ur content is!
Thanks Steven 👊🏻🙏🏻
First! Amazing video as always. Getting me stoked to head back out there this weekend. Sorry to hear about the GoPro.
Hope you had a good trip bro! 👊🏻
@@UntilJourneysEnd it was awesome. Caught a couple of Browns and cooked ‘em up right then and there for my group. Once I started bringing my gear, each trip just gets better and better!
Yeeeeesssssss lets go!! Love hearing this. You can’t beat catchin and cookin yourself!! 💪🏻🙌🏻
Love this vid! (On the sawyer squeeze, if you unscrew/remove the nipple on the end, the flow is pretty fast - obviously this would be for specific case usages like attaching a tube to fill your water bladder or water bottle, etc). Great set up!
Oooo no way, I’m definitely trying that on the next trip. That was my one critique…water flow! Thank you Paul. You are the man. 👊🏻
Another great video Micah! If you ever get out to central or front range Colorado hit me up and we’ll catch some fish.
Thanks bro! And thank you so much for the invite…I have a good friend in Colorado who I’m due to visit, so I might take you up on that 👊🏻
@@UntilJourneysEnd Just let me know when, I’ve got places that you’d love.
Great video, great fishing, amazing views. Suggestion: clear a good size circle free of leaves and needles and put your stove in the middle, to reduce fire risk in the event the stove falls over. I’m headed back to the Sierra to fish tomorrow, this videos got me excited. Thanks for sharing and happy trails!
Great tip! I gotta make a habit of that.
Hope your trip to the Sierra was a good one man!
Better not to cross a creek that looks like that. It might look even worse when you try to cross it again. Although I would have crossed it too if I was there that day😅
Haha, I definitely learned something on this trip, that is for sure 😄
Great video! Thanks for the reminder of how dangerous stream crossings can be.
My pleasure haha
@@UntilJourneysEnd no serious man. I’m also out in CA and know the dangers of river crossings. Good to inform everyone. Keep’em coming bro
I can’t believe how beautiful this trail is. PLEASE let us know what it’s called!!! That wildflower meadow in the beginning was so gorgeous I was vocally in awe the whole time.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!!
So, I’ve made it a habit not to publicly say where certain trailheads/lakes/streams are here on TH-cam because of the amount of traffic they already get, and also to retain the “create your own adventure” mentality. I found this trailhead simply by exploring Google maps along the 395! So with a some research, I’m sure you’ll find it 😄👊🏻
@@UntilJourneysEnd 👌🏼 well said and a great act of conservation
@@UntilJourneysEnd I understand. I actually figured it out myself from your videos and took my first solo backpacking trip myself to a trail near this one. Ate nothing but brook trouts I caught the whole time! I was entirely inspired by you, thanks for being an inspiration man. You’re a great youtuber!
Bro….this comment made my day. I’m so happy for you!! Get ready…you’ll be doing stuff like this for years to come 😄🕺🏻🎣
I’m surprised I haven’t bumped in to you! I just got in to trout fishing the eastern sierras last year and use any time off from work to spend my down time up there. Going to do an extended trip and do some work in mammoth for a while so I can stay longer. I live in SoCal and mainly fish LBSF or the charter boats. If you are ever in the area I would love to help you catch a big shark.
If you ever see me, make sure to stop me and say hi! I love that you’re exploring bro, there’s just so much out there to discover. And thank you for the invite!! That actually sounds pretty exhilarating 😅. Let’s stay in touch here on TH-cam or Instagram.
Stove Review? Looks like it did the job.
We just got back from Yosemite where I got to use the stove another 4 more times. I’m still holding off from giving it the “buy” recommendation just to test some durability aspects, but so far, I really like it.
What trial is this ? I was out in John Muir wilderness, last week , really beautiful lakes ! Visited convict lake , June lake and the owens river
Heck yeah man!

Just found your channel, really awesome content! Sorry if you've mentioned this before, but where do you get your intel regarding fish species in certain lakes and the likes? Do you just google these things or are there other resources to check out? Thanks!
Hey there and welcome! Great question.
My primary resource is Steve Schallas map system he has on his website for fishing the Sierra Nevada! He has an absolute endless amount if information about all the fisheries of the Sierra…check it out! 👇🏻👇🏻
flyfishingthesierra.com/homepage.htm
@@UntilJourneysEnd awesome! I’ll have to check his website out. Thanks!
Love the videos! My friends (doing their first backpacking trip) and I (this is gonna be my third) are doing a trip in about a month and are looking at the Sierra Nevada range. Any trails that you recommend for easy or medium difficulty and lots of FISHING?
look up tioga pass rivers and lakes loaded with brook trout and great hiking.
@@markvanderstelt8999 Thanks! Will do!!
What Mark said….also, Google Steve Schalla Fly Fishing the Sierra. You’ll learn a ton! 👊🏻
A shame about losing your GoPro. To bad getting a float tube that far out isn't feasible without pack mules. Just would love to see how big some of those brook trout are when they're rising all over the lake.
I would LOVE to float tube the lakes out in the Sierra! One day man…but yeah, I’m sure the bigger Brooks were out in the middle. The surface action was nuts.
Good stuff man! How where the mosquitoes?
Barely any!
Very underated channel! Commiefornia is beautiful.
it is that nice because because the brainwashed trumpets do not run the state .🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahhhah thanks man! It is beautiful…
