man, that was a trip down memory lane. i know every stretch of that piece of the river like the back of my hand. and when i was about your age i did my first solo backpacking trip there and camped exactly where you did. that was a long time ago. i have loved watching your fly fishing skills improve so quickly in your videos. keep up the great work.
With the fighter jet roaring through, I think I know what spot you’re in. That area is sandwiched by a naval air station to the north and an air force base to the south. Glad to see you still making videos!
last year i went almost 6 miles deep.. didnt catch anything.. But im going to be honest here, i heard some weird chatter coming out of the mountains that i cant explain
Looks like the Kern to me. No longer live in CA but my first Trout was caught on the San Joaquin on the bend near Devils Post Pile 65 years ago. LOL Great Videos and no music. Keep it up.
That's beautiful... im from Michigan... I don't see stuff like this... my wife and i took a kayak trip down the Colorado River below the Hoover dam when we went to Vegas... wish I had a rod with me but there was alot to look at for sure!
Love my homestate. The difference from the Midwest/East to the West is pretty remarkable. Each have their own beauty. That Colorado river trip sounds like a bookmark trip! That river is incredibly iconic!
Good video, bro. I admire you solo overnight camp in that upper section. I fished some of the holes in your video when I camped overnight with my friend a few years ago. In summer, fishing was super great in that section, could be better than the Fork. Thank you for sharing. God bless.
@@UntilJourneysEnd yessir. I could also recommend a warmer sleep pad to stay warm in your tent. What is the r-value of your sleeping pad? Whenever temps are below 40 it’s recommended to have an R value pad of 4 or higher
Man, I really love your vids but it broke my heart to see you just let your tag clippings drop into the river or on the ground. Even when I snip a little 1/8" section of 3lb fluoro I'll hold onto it and put it into a designated "waste" pocket in my tackle bag. Otherwise it's littering. Keep up the awesome trips and vids, but please pick up your trimmings!🤙
@@HuyNguyen-lu3zj I genuinely had a brain fart with those clippings 🫤 I love that you’re all about keeping every human trace out of the backcountry. I couldn’t be more in support of that. 🙌🏻
@@UntilJourneysEndYeah, I was sure you're generally very good about backcountry etiquette and responsibilities, so no hard feelings. Can't wait for the next adventure(s)!
I love your videos! Just a guy who genuinly enjoys nature.

That jet couldn’t have been timed better if you planned it! This is my favorite spot to fish and can’t be beat.
hahahahah for real😅
That was awesome! In those cold conditions it can be a tough bite, but the ones that do are usually good size
100%. I found out I had to be very picky on where I was placing my flies…those fish only liked slow moving pools/eddies!

Overnight during the summer up there sounds amazing. Thanks as always for watching bro!
@@UntilJourneysEnd Hope we can have a chance to fly fish in the back country one day.
Good job brotha
Triple surgeons knot next time your fly line breaks
Ahhh so the triple surgeons knot directly onto my leader?

Wading staff always no slip problems ,
Micah I think I know that place (on the other side) the jets are a dead giveaway . . . great place to fish and camp 😉!! This is past the bridge, yes??
Hahaha they 🛩️ really are! Yes it is.
Do you carry a gun when you go on these backcountry lakes by yourself?
Was that the Kern ?
No

It’s good for the fish
