Many great bands ripped off Tom Petty, but he never sued them. What a character...

Started with my dad's turntable as a kid and then took it with me as an adult. Well that's not actually true, I had a Muppets turntable as a kid that only played 45's, but that broke easily and my only 45's were story books. That first real turntable my dad had when I was a kid was a Sony linear tracking player that used a laser to scan the tracks on a record so that you could move back and forth between each track with just a press of a button. I kept using that Sony for years after my dad passed but hadn't really invested in my own vinyl I just played my dads old collection from the 70's and 80's. The Sony just recently died, and I started looking for a new record player. I bought one of those 40 dollar Crosley's and even bought some new records, but the very first time i put a new 180 gram record on it and dropped that needle you could see the record warping because the platter is only 7 inches. I bought a vinyl platter mat to try and stiffen it but The records still look a little warped. I am now in the market for a new turntable (looking at the Sony LX310BT) but will those new records settle back to be flat after being on a full sized platter?

I had the McIntosh MA252 and I upgraded to the MA8950 . I also had technics su700. Here are the difference . The technics is beautiful amp but the sound is too digital ( so I got rid of it ). The MA252 is beautiful 0:30 sound tube amp , however it’s only 100 watts , so pairing it with an easy speaker is a must . It couldn’t drive my B&W 702 s2 signature because those are very difficult speaker who demands a lot of power . The MA252 was able to drive the Kef R5 meta without the need of a subwoofer and the pairing was magical . The Ma8950 is more layback , less punchy. Sound is coming from behind your speaker . The MA252 , the singer will be in front of you . The technics will be my last option unless you prefer to have a lot of details .

can you bypass the eq entirely with a button push, for completely unaltered sound? I have very high end gear, so I wouldn't always want it in the chain

The only letter "P" I appreciated was Elvis from Hawaii and the other Elvis lp. Maybe the Police. That is all. Yet good. Look forward to the next alphabet.

Not sure about this. 28 videos of someone else’s record collection is a LOT, even if it’s Bob’s. Not only that, but my record collection is currently 7,414 miles away, so I can’t even compare. That being said: No Amboy Dukes? Or did that go away with the first defenestration of your collection?

I have quite a few in the P as well and pulled out a few Pretender albums that I have not listened to for sometime now and really enjoyed them..🎶 I love playing alone and looking forward to playing some more of my forgotten LP’s Thanks Bob for triggering some of my forgotten memories and looking forward to the next letter….

Which is better for a starter: lp70xbt, or Fluance 81? I am looking for a turntable for the family christmas gift (wife, kids, and myself.) Kids and I are musicians, love lots of music. We need bluetooth (for now) as we already have a digital system, and cost is a bit of an issue, so Fluance would need an additional transmitter. Yes I could buy speakers and amps, but then, I won't be able to get any albums.

All of my albums are separated by the First letter in the group Alan Parsons would be an A! and on and on! Gino Venelli would be under G!

And I'm in the Netherlands so a very different perspective. So heres a few I have that you don't: Pixies, Prodigy, Portishead, Pulp. And Madeline Peyroux (vocal jazz). Oh, and the Pretenders! And while I'm browsing through my records, here's my cat Whisky to help me look. She's a fan too. 😸

i know its wierd to say and im not an audiophile by any means y but to me the complexity gives it some beauty you tune everything right and then you get to listen to your favourite album beacuse its not always easy it makes it so much more rewarding.

I have the third generation and i enjoy them so much..i have also been to many showrooms with so much more expensive speakers..there is nothing like my forte's!

This will be an interesting journey and, by the end, my playlists will certainly have grown a lot. I hope you show off your CD collection too. Great content!

I've owned this receiver for six years. Each time I think about upgrading, I just can't justify it given how good the unit sounds and it's feature set.

What fun ! I do this at home every year or so!! I’ve sold my collection a couple of times the last time about five years ago to help with doctor bills! So do i know regret you bet! At one time I had every charted lp and single! Missing only a fewc weird ones like the 45 can you spare a match! My current collection is up to 5k including cds tapes etc! My equipment has been with me forever including Bose speakers of various flavors! Love your channel keep up the fantastic work!

Quick question Bob…. I see that you alphabetize your LPs like most, but my question do you go by the artist name or by group name? Example like Alice Cooper, would that be under A’s or the C’s ? I know everybody does it different. I was just curious on how you would file those differences ?

Reckless is a great album! I’ve always been a big Bryan Adams fan. I actually still have his greatest hits CD that I bought like 25 years ago. So far, I have held onto my CD collection of over 30 years. I think I have about 500 discs at this point.

Chuy and The Man is another great album.

ZEVON! All of his records are audiophile quality. Excitable Boy has such a nice bottom end kick, with lifelike imaging. I use several tracks from Zevon as reference for my own speaker designs.

Love the concept. Your A records are underwhelming but that's the fun. I'm absolutely positive that the upcoming Bs will make up for the slow start. Keep these coming Bob!
