Garden Building Update | Walls & Flooring | ep06
In this Garden Building Update, you'll find we are almost at the end of the build. The Walls & Flooring are now finished apart from some trim and skirting. These PVC Panels I purchased were very easy to fit using the tongue and groove system, and of course, the click fix laminate flooring now completes the look. Once the 2nd fix electrics is done, we will be ready to move in!
This 20ft x 9ft Garden Building from Only Sheds and Summerhouses will be my Fish House. This will have a large tank for Piney, my Porcupine Puffer fish, a permanent QT tank, and maybe some Clown Fish Breeding or an Anemone tank.
I really hope you enjoyed watching and would love to hear your comments, suggestions, and ideas for the Fish House.

Merry Christmas fella , best wishes , see you on the next one in the new year 🥳🥳🎄🎄👍🏻
Thank you 😀 Merry Christmas to you, too, and I hope you have a great 2025 🥂🎊🎉🍻
Looking great, loved watching this series of videos. Keep up the great work. Shame you are not making it in for Christmas but the positive is you will have a fresh start in 25 to look forward to.
Thanks Craig 😀 Yeah was really hoping to at least have the office area set up for Xmas but things just took a bit longer than expected trying to get it done around work and home life, and then couldn't get the sparky back in time before he finished for Xmas. But yeah, fresh start in 2025! 😀 Have a great Xmas and New Year, mate.
how do you control Humidity and temperature drops
Hi, I've got a Humidistat Fan that will be installed in the top corner on one end, and the other end down low will have a passive vent ducted under the kitchen cabinet and the inside vent fitted on the kickplate. Also, I've got the windows I can open. As for temperature, I have a temperature sensor controlled radiator, and each tank will also have its own heater in. As a backup, I've got a WIFI smart Temp/Humidity sensor that will turn on freestanding fans in the summer if required and it can alert me if the temperature or humidity goes beyond my preset limits either too high or too low. Worse case scenario fit air-conditioning when I can afford it. If you have any other suggestions or recommendations, then I'd love to hear them. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@@ReefDrama great well done really gone for it by the sounds of it my redsea G1 xxl625 which ruptured at front panel redsea replaced with G2 Deluxe plug and play 300ltr if you want cheap AC send me a message
@dodger6376 thanks. Hopefully, I thought of most things and also future proofed the building too. I love my 625xl G2. The G2 upgrades will hopefully sort out some of the G1 issues, but I guess only time will tell. I'm glad the issues you had with yours didn't force you out of the Salty world. Yeah, great about the aircon. Thanks. Will see how it goes first both through the winter and summer and then decide then 😀
Congratulations. The fish house is looking fabulous, the work you have put into it is incredible. Can't wait to see the finished house in 2025. Have a very happy restful Christmas, and a here's to Reef Drama in 2025.
Thank you 😀 I can't wait either, and yes, I'm having a break now from work and working on the fish house over Xmas. Roll on 2025! Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
BRStv has a good video with Elliot Lim from Marine Collectors that provides an excellent quarantine schedule...
Thanks. I'll have a watch. I did Copper on my last QT, which worked out great, so I will probably do the same kinda thing. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀 Merry Xmas 🎉🎊
Seen 2 reviews on this now this week, really like it and really like the price. I will definitely be getting this product in the new year for the Red Sea tank I will be collecting in January 🙌🏾 can’t wait
Awesome. The price is really good and as this hobby is expensive enough it's nice to be able to get a good deal once in a while. Good luck with your new set up 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel and Merry Christmas 🎉🎊
@ Any bargains and I’m there lol Will try and keep my channel updated during the process to keep people up to date. Merry Christmas to u and ur’s also pal 👊🏾🎄
@jonomufc7 Absolutely!! Yes, definitely, I'll come find you and subscribe. No doubt I'll do a 6 month update 😀 Thank you. Have a good one, mate 👍
My aquarium burst all over my floor 4 years old reefer 425xl. Redsea offered me €700 i will be getting out of the hobby 😢
Sorry to hear that 😞 Shame you're leaving the hobby, but you never know a few years down the road the Salty world might start calling again! Good luck either way, man. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Does your puffer go for corals much? Always wanted one
Hi, no, Piney doesn't go for any of the corals. Never has. They are very personable tho and act just like a puppy !! 😆 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
I know what happened.... you put the sump in backwards. Those baffles should be in the back.
Hooray !!!! Well done !! You're the 1st person to comment the answer !! Haha. Couldn't believe it when I noticed. Let's just say I didn't need the blue lights as the air was quite blue !! Thank you for supporting my channel 😀
Is this the G2+ ?
No, it was the 425xl. I now have the 625xl G2, tho 😀
What is your aquarium glass thinkness please?
Hey, it's 18mm, I believe. The tank is the Red Sea 625xl G2. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Looking really good 👍
Thanks Craig. It's coming along nicely now 😀
Fantastic video
Thanks so much 😀 Thank you for supporting my channel 😀
Incredible build. Been watching from day 1,looking forward to seeing the completed fish house. Congrats on such detailing.Keep up the good work.
Thank you 😊 I can't wait either ! Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
How can I feed manually when I have a program running?
Hi, for adhoc feeding, you can either just press the button on the control panel, or you can do it through the app. It will just start up again once the feed timer ends and go back to the normal program. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Fantastic video! Keep us updated with the build :D
Thanks very much 😀 Hopefully drop the next update at the weekend as it should be an easy week this week 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@@ReefDrama Looking forward to it :D
Did you sterilise the tank water before using it ? If not you could introduce other plankton species
Hi, no, I didn't sterilise the tank water. Perhaps freshly made saltwater would have been a better choice 🤔
Ok been 2 years any update? Did it work ? Thanks
Hey, I haven't got an update as it wasn't really a fair chance for it. Having a very large Porcupine Puffer fish that's very messy when it eats creates high Nitrates (around 40-50ppm). After the 1st month, I took the little denitrification catalyst bit out and just left in the ceramic sections. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Is there a way to disable using the app And just forget it exists?
Hey, you should just be able to set it up via the controller itself using the 'set' and 'arrow' buttons. Once set up, just leave it. Which one have you brought? Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Did he glue the rubber roof down?
Hey, no, the roof wasn't glued down. I did query this, and apparently, they've been doing it like this the whole time with no issues. Obviously, it is something to keep an eye on, but it does have a 15 or 20 year warranty. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
when i saw the suction cups i was out
Why's that? It still has the Magnet like the EcoTech. The suction cups just keep the one side in place once you've removed the other side. It's a great idea, I think. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
it really helps when i clean the wet side i know where im gonna place it back immediately ❤
Has the g2 started failing????
Mine hasn't, but time will tell, I guess. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
YES
Fak Red Sea and the reefer line!
Not a fan, then.
Comprehensive guide thanks
Thank you. I'm pleased my video is helping people 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
I’m taking down my MP10 , I’m tired of replacing the wet side . It’s costly and not budget friendly
Hey, these are definitely a cheaper option, and it's quiet and powerful. I've always wanted a couple of EcoTech MP's on the back wall but could never justify the cost. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@@ReefDrama you welcome sir
What do you think of this rock?
I personally really like it. There's some great shapes available and some one off large pieces too if you look around. Never had any issues with it leaching phosphates either. I love the colour of it right from day one in the tank. I've never been a fan of the more purple rock you see advertised. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Ive used this video before to get my inkbird connected to my app but this time after upgrading the app to inkbird pro i cant get my app an inkbird synced. When i choose the correct inkbird nothing changes on the device. Is there not a way to set it through the device itself?
0:28 That’s what she said!
😆
neat review also what u use for hanging the light ? do u have a name or link for that ?
Hi, thanks 😊 Yeah the light bracket is an Evolution Aqua. I did a video on it a few years ago if you want to have a watch of that. The title is 'Saltwater Tank Hanging Light Bracket 1200 | Evolution Aqua'. Hope this helps. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@ thank you
Reef drama😂
I know !! Manifested this all by myself, didn't I !! 🤣 Thought I was being clever with the channel name as we all have reefing dramas, but this one was huge !! 😞 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Dude get to the point. Can’t even listen to this garbage.
Hi.I was wondering how much more percentage wise you raised the numbers from this videos.I am currently cycling a 4 foot water box and have the same light at about the same height so looking for recommendations. Will be a mainly lPS and softies tank.Cheers great video
Hey, thank you very much. If you want to email me (reefdrama@gmail.com), I can send you the percentages from the video and also what they are now if that will help you. Of course, at the moment, I don't have any LPS, but it will give you something to go on. Just remember to slowly ramp the percentages up so as not to shock your corals. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Looking really good , keep up the good work 👍🏻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hey mate, thanks very much 😀 I'm definitely pleased with the progress so far, but the job list just seems never-ending!! Lol. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Looking good won’t be long till it is up and running👍
Hi Craig, thank you very much. OMG, I can't wait!! It's slow progress when you can only do things at the weekend and weather permitting. Unfortunately, the cutting of all the PIR insulation and the plywood for the walls all have to be done in the garden. If it rains, I can't do it 😞 As always, thanks for supporting my channel 😀
You’re amazing , I can’t imagine what you went through .
Hey, thanks for your kind words. I certainly learnt a valuable lesson during that horrible time and will now always quarantine any new fish. Thankfully, we are back up and running, and I'm in the process of building a Fish House for a large tank/pond for Piney and eventually a couple more tanks plus a permanent QT tank 😀 I hope you follow along with my progress 😀 and thanks for your support.
What a nightmare , I’m so sorry
Hi, thank you. It certainly was a nitemare. Stressful and upsetting at the same time 😞 Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
How about painting the floor with rubber paint to protect it…. And clad the walls around the bottom with waterproof panels to make a wet room for the lower part. Any spills, no problem.
Hey, that's not a bad idea for the floor. The walls I'm kinda planning something similar. My current plan for the floor is on top of the marine ply I'm putting lengths of 25mm batons from front to back with 2.4m x 600 x 25mm Celotex PIR Insulation inbetween. On top of that, there will be 12mm waterproof laminate flooring. I guess I could paint the rubber paint on the marine ply 1st 🤔 I know 25mm insulation on the floor isn't much, but this is for inside of the building and at least its something without making the laminate flooring come up above the double door threshold. Next year on the outside, underneath, I'm looking at trying to fit 100mm PIR Insulation in between the galvanised steel frame. Although getting under the right-hand side of the building will be very problematic !! The walls I'm having 12mm ply fitted but not all the way to the floor (an inch or so above the laminate). On top of the ply, all round top to bottom will be the plastic bathroom panels, so it will be easy to keep clean and wipe down. What do you think of those ideas? I'm also debating installing a floor drain, but it's another potential draft and a creepy crawley highway inside !! Lol. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Why rtf diameter to then upgrade to 6 x 4…. Go straight to 6 x 4….. you’ll also gain an extra foot when you enter.
Hi, I believe the company supplying normally puts a 6x2 across the length of the roof in the middle for support on the larger buildings. This would be an issue for the cold roof that I wanted. I did want additional support, so I opted for front to back alongside the normal 4x2's. The ends of the 6x2's have been cut down, so they sit at the same height as the 4x2's. Thought it was a good idea. I'm not sure if I could have the roof any higher due to permitted development and having to be within 2.5m high. Is it possible I could have done what you suggested but this option wasn't given to me when I ordered the building. If I ever do it again, then at least I will know and learn from this build 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
I don't understand continuous heating it comes on 6 I put mine on 24 what happens after 24 hrs does it switch it all off
Hi, the continuous heating set time is there to let you know that your setpoint temperature can't be reached. It will trigger the E5 alarm, and yes, it will stop heating. You would then need to reset it to start the heating process again. Sometimes, this is because your heaters aren't powerful enough for the amount of water volume. What are your T1 and T2 set to? Is it struggling to heat your tank? Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Nice Solution. I have an external waste container, think I’ll put my one in there.
Hi Dave, thanks 😀 I used to always forget to turn off the skimmer when I turned off the return pump! Yes, that would work, too. Let me know how it goes 🙂 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Thanks for the video. I just set up the same model inkbird. I have the temp settings at 71 and 73, but my tank wont go any lower than 76. I'm confused. I've got an accurate thermometer in the tank, so I've calibrated the inkbird from that. It's been set up for 3 days and i can't get the temp to drop (my house is 70 degrees)... Any thoughts?
Hi, I'm glad you found the video helpful. So you have the twin heating version like mine, not the heating and cooling version? Im guessing if your tank is 76, then the Inkbird hasnt turned on both the heaters? Where are your temperature sensors placed? What temperature have you set you heaters at? I usually have mine set a couple of degrees higher, so just in case the Inkbird fails, then the heaters won't continue on and cook your fish. It is strange if your house is 70, then I wouldn't have thought the tank water would be much higher although obviously depending on what lights, return pump etc you have, they will all give off additional heat. Just make sure the Inkbird settings are correct and one of your heaters isn't actually on. Otherwise, so long as the temperature doesn't drop, then enjoy free heating and cheaper electricity bills 😀 Just keep monitoring it. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Respect the honesty and transparency. I don't think it's necessarily your fault really, we would all do the same. I never quarantine. I never had issues either. My blue tang and fox face had white spots for a bit but went away on its own. Only time I treated the tank is when my fanged blenny hit its head and got infected. I dosed anti-fungal and anti-bacterial stuff to the tank and didn't save the little guy. However, I made my skimmer unusable for 3 months with that stupid medication. Therefore I made more harm with the treatment. Next time I see any parasite, I will give ground ginger (the one intended for cooking) dosing a go. Seen it in a few videos then I did a search on actual, credible research on google scholar and found some research articles proving its effectiveness. Apparently ground ginger has some chemical features that inhibit the reproduction of ich for example. Unsure if it works for other things or not. I do find it weird though that all this started when you were away. Very very suspicious coincidence. I would most definitely investigate what changed while you were away that could have triggered this event. Like were they not fed in the meanwhile and maybe aggression, hunger broke out leading to stress and micro injuries that gave advantage to infections? Or did parameters change unnoticeably that promote infectious diseases? I'd literally look at anything that you changed before going away no matter how insignificant it seems. For example there is a youtuber who lost a lot of corals and just didn't get it why as everything seemed normal. He went weeks trying to investigate until he realised he made a silly mistake by opening the file of an older ICP test result instead of the new one and one harmful chemical was dangerous level. This chemical was leaching from the PVC pipes of the chiller he connected to the tank (not quite the PVC pipe, but the residue that was present on it from the manufacturing process). It just kind of shows that sometimes we overlook things.
I love Copper Power! Seems gentle on fish. The Hanna tester is a must, IMO. I like to ramp mine up like you did, but I try to stay close to the 2.5 level. I use an online calculator from Calculator Academy. Those calculators make maintaining the proper level so much easier. I tend to just go for 30+ days at therapeutic levels, then I actually switch to two doses of PraziPro. The only thing this video lacked, which almost all quarantine videos do… Is how to get the fish from the copper treated water, back to the display! I just acclimate like I would a new fish in a bucket… and in a separate bucket, I have display tank water only for a final rinse. No water goes from bucket to bucket or from bucket to the display. Good video.
Hey, thanks Kevin 😀 Yeah I agree Copper Power and the Hanna Checker combo is a must. I only really had to ramp up slowly and then start the date process once I hit the therapeutic level because of my Porcupine Puffer. Otherwise, you could probably get it to 2.5 straight away. Those calculators are very handy. Can't remember the name of the one I used now. As for getting the fish back in the display, I think I just wanted it to be as stress free as possible for both me and the fish, which I probably why I didn't video it 🙃 Not sure I even remember how I did it, unless I mentioned it in the video. Definitely don't want any QT water going into the DT as you quite rightly say. What you're doing sounds perfect to me 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
One thing that concerns me with this type of structure is whether it might experience excessive vibrations, for example, if a heavy object is dropped or from jumping. I’ve seen videos where even the movement of people inside causes a glass of water to spill. Could this be an issue?
Hi, I don't think there will be any issues with vibration or jumping with the galvanised steel base. I do, however, have 2x 18mm Marine Ply Sheets for the main floor before the insulation and laminate flooring go down. These 2 Marine Ply Sheets have already been screwed together, but I will be adding a lot more screws just to take out any bounce or shakes, etc. Good point, though 👍 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Great update, looking forward to the next video already. Well thought out plan you have.👍
Hey Craig, thank you very much 😀 You don't think I've missed anything out or overthinking things? Would hate to get all the internal walls and ceiling complete and then reliase I've missed something. I'm trying to forward think as much as possible and future proof the building too. Thanks as ever for supporting my channel 😀
Good luck mate will look amazing when done
Thanks mate 😀 Lots of work, but I can't wait for completion. Or at least 2nd fix electrics so I can get rid of the extension cable from the kitchen!! 😆 Bit of a spoiler alert, but it's all painted now outside. Looks fantastic 👌 As always, thanks for supporting my channel 😀
That's amazing mate have a cabin in garden as well much smaller than yours but I'll be getting a 4ft shallow in there at some point. Can't wait for the next vid.
Felt incomplete tbh. I hit this for guidance and
I'm sorry to hear that. What would you say was missing from the video or made you feel incomplete, apart from your sentence? 🙂
Looks a great building, not seen one on a galvanised frame before ! My suggestion would be getting an electrician to fit the electrics before cladding the internal walls. Would make for a nice clean job
Hi, thanks for your suggestion. Yes, the electrician is coming in 1st, then I've got the insulation, Vapour Barrier, and internal walls/ ceiling to do. Hopefully, it will be a clean job 🤞 That's the look I'm going for anyway 😀 The Galvanised Steel Base was for a couple of reasons. 1. I think it would have cost a lot to excavate the ground to make it flat and then put in a concrete pad. 2. Will get a nice bit of air flow underneath, so it will prevent rotting and potentially sitting in pools of water on a concrete pad. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
This stuff is crap lol.
Thanks for your input and for supporting my channel 😀
Lovely looking garden room. Look forward to seeing what you do with it.👍
Cheers, Craig. I'm very pleased with it and can't wait to get past all the fitting of insulation, interior walls, ceiling electrics, etc, and start out-fitting it and, most importantly, getting Pineys new tank scaped and cycled. Lots of plans, and hopefully, more content. Cheers for supporting my channel 😃
