I love Copper Power! Seems gentle on fish. The Hanna tester is a must, IMO. I like to ramp mine up like you did, but I try to stay close to the 2.5 level. I use an online calculator from Calculator Academy. Those calculators make maintaining the proper level so much easier. I tend to just go for 30+ days at therapeutic levels, then I actually switch to two doses of PraziPro. The only thing this video lacked, which almost all quarantine videos do… Is how to get the fish from the copper treated water, back to the display! I just acclimate like I would a new fish in a bucket… and in a separate bucket, I have display tank water only for a final rinse. No water goes from bucket to bucket or from bucket to the display. Good video.
Hey, thanks Kevin 😀 Yeah I agree Copper Power and the Hanna Checker combo is a must. I only really had to ramp up slowly and then start the date process once I hit the therapeutic level because of my Porcupine Puffer. Otherwise, you could probably get it to 2.5 straight away. Those calculators are very handy. Can't remember the name of the one I used now. As for getting the fish back in the display, I think I just wanted it to be as stress free as possible for both me and the fish, which I probably why I didn't video it 🙃 Not sure I even remember how I did it, unless I mentioned it in the video. Definitely don't want any QT water going into the DT as you quite rightly say. What you're doing sounds perfect to me 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
This was a very good video ,great explanation of what a QT tank should look like. I have same QT setup now my main concern is my new porcupine puffer. Seems they do ok as long as copper is ramped up slow, thanks for confirming!!!
Hi, thanks for that 😀 much appreciated. Hope all goes well with your qt. Yeah, I think that's the key on any delicate fish that can't tolerate copper very well is to use Copper Power and slowly ramp it up. Remember, the time countdown starts once you have reached the therapeutic level. Obviously, do your research as some won't tolerate copper at all. Good luck, and thanks for supporting my channel 😀
copper power says is not necessary to treat at the maximum 2.5 ppm concentration, but a mimimum level of 1.5 ppm copper must be maintained to be effective. We recommend a starting range of 1.5 to 2.0 ppm copper for most treatment protocols, based on community experiences with copper treatment. yours is way low its . xxxxx
Hi, I'm not sure what you're trying to say here as you've stated 'a recommended starting range of 1.5 to 2.0 ppm'. Once I had achieved therapeutic level (which took about a week), I was then always over 2.0 ppm for the entire 30 days. The only time mine was low was during the initial dosing of slowly getting up to 2.0 ppm, and that was because of the puffer fish. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

Hi, wee question, how long did you leavd the DT fishless before putting the fish back in? Cheers
Hi, I left the DT for 90 days, although it went slightly over as I waited for the weekend 😀
Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
