Deep Water Walleye Techniques. SMOKIN’ Hot Afternoon Trip.
Temps were soaring on Lake Erie as we went on an afternoon trip in search of walleye. The fish could time to be in the move and we struggled to stay on good numbers but had a good day in the water with enough fish to keep everyone in good spirits! Trolling harnesses and stickbaits for Lake Erie walleye can be tough at times and today was one of those times.

WINTER Steelhead! Cold temps and muddy water bring BIG CHROME Erie steelhead.
มุมมอง 51312 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Going back to a quick steelhead fishing trip late fall 2024 I find a pod of active fish and take advantage. Float fishing with egg sacks in some slow water the bites happen almost at my feet and the fish go nuts in the colder water temps. The week before the water was too high and muddy to fish but with improving color and flow we went for it. The decision paid off with an amazing morning of st...
BLIZZARD Steelhead at BURT DAM!

The coldest temps of the steelhead season meant bundling up and hoping for a few quick bites, not to mention ton moving water. The flow from this power generating dam is a few degrees warmer than freezing and gives us the chance we need to hook up with some beautiful winter steelhead. The colder the better when trying to get that fishing hole to yourself. Get 10% OFF at BuffaloTackle.com CODE: ...
ICE Flow Steelhead!

The coldest morning of the season means drifting through a steady flow of slush but we pick up a bunch of nice Erie steelhead despite the tough conditions. Winter steelhead are typically most active during the middle of the day after the water has had a chance to warm slightly. Even on the coldest days a degree warmer can trigger a bite from these steelhead. Persistence definitely pays off in t...
Walleye FISHING! HOT Summertime BAITS.

A quick after work fishing trip with friends turns out with a bunch of walleye in the net. Trolling Lake Erie walleye, we used a bunch of different Challenger stickbaits to target suspended fish, trolling around 2 mph to get the bites. As we move into late summertime, trolling a little faster with stickbaits is a great way to find walleye that are on the move. We also used lead core line which ...

    Try some 6 & 8 oz snaps- much shorter leads and WAY faster turn-around times getting those baits back in the 'zone', not to mention less distance over which to lose those poorly hooked fish. Might want to use the magnums if you run them off in-line boards.

    • @willsworldoutdoors
      @willsworldoutdoors 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      We will do that. Just picked up some 8oz weights for the rods closest to the boat and a friend has been experimenting with shorter leads from weight to the bait without missing a beat. It would really help with turns and getting lines back down faster. Thanks!

      @@willsworldoutdoors Here's a hack a few old-timers have imparted- have 30' lead on crankbait, snap on the 8 oz, and let out as much line as the depth you are targeting while keeping speed around 2 mph. Often times these rods are run up front and troll almost under the boat. And as you know, putting speed up or down slightly will move those baits up and down in the column triggering more bites. Keep those lines tight boys. From the North shore of Erie.

      You can check out a website called seagull for maps of the surface temps of the Great Lakes. It’s really cool and does show a bunch of cold water off Dunkirk right now. I had heard the fish off the Catt moved at some point last week and the wind kept us off the water yesterday so no telling what the fish did. By Wednesday they should be set up again just not sure where. Catt is typically a good bet this time of year no matter what. Keep us posted and good luck!
