If you're using less than 10-12 lb test and hook into a laker or larger brown, be prepared to break off all day long. Snell your hooks. Clinch knots and modified clinch knots will fail. Few fish are line shy down there, especially if there's some stain in the Lower. Haven't had problems hooking and landing fish down there tying spinners and spoons straight to 15 lb braid. Float fishing I won't go lighter than 12 lb test fluoro on the main & leader line. I might run 10 lb test on the lower tandem bead rig but generally fish only 1 bead. Seguar INVIZX.
You boyz have been on the grind recently 💪 That was a sweeeet brown, that day I seen you, I landed 8 lost a couple more. Lost a steelhead too, should be some more steel coming in hopefully🤞
Nice video bro. Couple questions: How deep is your float? Where do you park to get to that spot? I’m driving from the Canadian side. Heading there early January, do you think there will be any fish there ?
Typically you’re fishing around 15’-20’ but it. Aries from spot to spot and also with the current. Finding bottom and staying close is the ticket. There will be fish around in January (steelhead) but if it gets cold you will be dealing with some shelf ice so be very cautious as it will extend over the water in many areas. I can’t give specifics on access but if you check out the NYS parks that dot the shoreline you’ll find plenty of access points. Best of luck!
If you check out our other videos on the lower river we go over the setup pretty often and you should up d be able to find it in time for your trip. Good luck! Maybe we’ll see you out there.
In this particular situation I am only because the current makes it really tough to land fish and I needed a little extra leverage in them. The leaders are still florocarbon.
Canadian side actually has one of the best spots to fish all year round...there's a trail down into the Whirlpool area on the Canadian side...look up Whirlpool trail. Be prepared to do some walking, but it's a nice hike down there.
Well done - Beautiful Brown & Beast of a Laker 👍👍waters so so clear - probably get a lot more bites with a lighter leader but never land any 😜
Thanks! Let’s go next weekend!

Nice! I really enjoy the Niagara adventures even though I don't fish it very often!
Glad you enjoy it!
