Not your average bass player.
Installing a Sustainiac on a WHAMMY BAR BASS!!! | BTS & DEMO
In this video, I'll walk you through almost everything about the installation process for the sustainiac, including behind the scenes footage and multiple demos. Of course, there was plenty of details that I chose to skip over for the sake of convenience, so drop your questions and suggestions in the comments if you have any!
-Thanks again for the huge support on my first Sustainiac video!

trippy
For real🔥
Brain melting tone
I appreciate that!
Coolest thing I've seen on a bass.
Glad you enjoy!
This is real DOUBLE bass😂
So true! 😭🔥
Sounds like frippertronics, dope
Thanks! I'll have to check that out
This is some innovative, brilliant idea. High five, man P. S. I subscribed Justin from the Philippines
Thank you so much, Justin!! I appreciate your support.
Would be way cooler on a frettless
Perhaps🤔
Wow! I just love when someone does exactly the opposite of what convention suggests, and it then works.
Lmao, that means we're on the right track
Such sweet melodies :) You might be able to tame those finger-string slides a little with a Limiter - or you might like those textures and leave them as they are...
Thanks! I try my best to not slide as much, but I don't even know I'm doing it most of the time.
Great Video, now I really need to make a demo of how the Sustainiac sounds on my baritone 7 string fretless guitar!
Thank you! I'd be interested!
How can your cut up a spector... YOU ANIMAL! did sound dope though lol
Lmao, trust me I was a nervous wreck
Cool!
Thank you!
Have always wanted to do this to a bass
It's different!
I DO NOT need a sustaniac on my bass. NO SIR *sigh* /eyes router
😭😭😭
Ok this is fantastic!!!!!
I'm glad you think so!
Routing and drilling holes into a bass like a Spector would make me so nervous! You did a fantastic job. Super cool mod man!
Thanks so much! Believe me, we were both nervous.
As someone who spent a year troubleshooting and installing a sustainiac, gg man.
You're a real one🤝
Rip Cliff, you would have loved this
LMAO💀💀
It started with Steve Vai, it ended with a precious looking and sounding bass
You know it's true🔥
the more I listen to it, the more it sounds almost like that synth flute that was used in a few super mario 64 soundtracks
I agree!! It definitely resembles a flute.
Wicked.
🔥🔥🔥
Sick bass and tones. Well done brother.
I appreciate that!!
Well now I need a sustaniac guitar & bass
Agreed! I reccomend finding a guitar that has one already in it, if you can.
Now do it on a fretless
I will not be buying another sustainiac😭
This video has way too few views.
Thank you so much🙏
It’s been 2days. Be patient.
you could probably write some great solos with this set up
I agree! Hoping to make this a special live performance thing
Michael Manring: 🤔
Lmao i love him
@@jakekiernan33best solo Bassist i know. And his Hyperbass. 🤤 Just lacks a sustainiac. 😏 Maybe he should pickup that idea. (pun intended😅).
@robertb8673 so true😭🔥
actually angelic bro holy shit
I appreciate you!🔥
someone needs to get this man a deal and make this a signature bass asap
Hope Spector will read this🙏
that sounds magical as hell
I agree. Like a magical flute
The mad man finally did it. That’s KILLER dude.
Lmao!! Thank you so much!🔥
That is one Wild Bass Guitar. 👍
I appreciate that!!🔥
Steve Vai approved ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I appreciate that🙏
You can run multiple 9 volt batteries in parallel and double the MAH and life with either type of 9 volt. Rechargeables might perform better with the 2 in parallel as well. I have thought about trying 2 18650 lithium ion batteries in series since I have a bunch of the battery boxes chargers and batteries. I think it would probably be the best option next to a wall wart for real. 8.4 volts might do it. I'll find out soon. Some might handle 12.6 volt with 3 in series
I appreciate the suggestion! No worries, i solved the problem. I was using batteries that weren't lithium ion! The sustainiac is fully installed now: update video coming soon!
@@jakekiernan33working installing my Veyz Sustainer
Wow, that really works well with our bass whammy!
Thanks so much! Another video like this coming soon.
@@jakekiernan33 got any that highlight our bridge?
Filming that as we speak! Coming soon.
That Vai snippet was from Whispering a Prayer right? I never thought of a sustainiac on a bass, great idea man!!!!
Yes it is! Thank you, another Sustainiac video coming soon!
could use a multi strand cable and use fanthom power to feed the sustaniac , you could allso operate the switches from either a small box on the amp or a stompbox hooked intoo a box on the amp might mean you need sumting like a din plug or an xlr plug with more pins image.allekabels.nl/image/1067594-0/multipin-connector-verpakt-per-stuk.jpg instead of a guitar plug in the back of the bas , but the bas itself would not habe any batteries and switches hanging out of it probably allso means you need to filter the signal some as the cables transporting the power to the bas will hum on the signal cable from the bas to the amp does open more options though like adjusting the strength of the sustainer through a volume pedal or having it vary in strength or pitch like a chorus or flanger you can use a foot for that and have youre hands free to play
couldn't phantom power from a Mixer or injector help here? You could transform the voltsge down if sustainiac need pure 9V
No worries, the sustainiac is already installed! (Video coming soon). The problem was i was using the wrong batteries, they were not lithium ion.
I need whatever yall got
It's called love brother☝️
This was amazing!!
Thank you!!
@@jakekiernan33 you're very welcome
I like the tone on those sustained notes with the whammy. Very ambient sounding. Keep at it! Speaking of drilling into your bass ha check my patented fretboard mod. Added vertical scallops to allow new bends and pulloffs. The edge of the fretcorner plucks the string to add extra notes to pulloffs / alternate vibrato and more. If you wanna demo 1 I’ll send you a bass. It’s good to try new styles and build skill in new ways. As far as your Vai example he actually bends off the fretwire on Blue Powder which gives the technique history.
I love tunes like these. good work! 🎸
Thank you so much!!🫶
You sustainiac, you.
Hmmm lmao😭
Would be interesting to hear with flats so that theres less scratchy string noise, but at the same time you might lose some of the harmonic content. Beautiful none the less
True, I know what you mean! I've never been a fan of flats but that would be interesting.
Sounds like something by David Gilmour
Perhaps!
Ok. That was pretty sick.
I appreciate that!
🎉
🫶🔥
It sounds amazing
Thanks so much!!
The ebow does not work very well on bass in case anyone was wondering (and I use tiny strings on my basses). Plus its clunky in the hand.. I love the beginning of pearl jams ten type bass tone!!
This is true! I get a lot of Ebow comments so it's nice to see someone who knows what's going on here.
