Colorado Trains June 2023
Hello all
This month I ventured back out trainside with a mission to produce my first actual video in a long time. This led to a trip on the Moffat Subdivision, catching Amtrak California Zephyr westbound and Rocky Mountaineer westbound. I also filmed around parts of the Joint Line as well. Hope you enjoy the video, hopefully I can get another one out soon. Take care

I love the paint scheme on the "F-7" A and B units. The F-units are my faves. 👍
603 is an RS3 someting or RS5T "Sushine falls" is a K3LA (or whatever MBTA put on their cab cars of that type form what im hearing)

Crossed the Gorge in 1962 - was and still am, very impressed,took the inclinded rail down to the River & of course went a 1,000 feet across the bridge also it was a 1,000 feet straight down to the river.There is the bridge, which we drove across in our car.
Awesome cab & operation footage! Just hearing the sound of the F units on the headend brings me back to so many early memories from watching the America by Rail series featuring this railroad. My personal favorite horn was the All bells forward M5 that the #402 wore back around 2000. I really wish I knew the heritage of it because it sounded angelic during the time.

I wonder what happened to F7#402. Because 403 and the B unit just doesn't look right to me :(
So 402 has been deemed out of service. Which means the likelyhood of it running ever again is slim to none. Currently 403 and the B unit are our only functioning F units

Any plans to retire the 728 soon? Back when she was in Virginia, I was young and this locomotive is really what got me into railroading. Someday I’m hoping to trek out there and see it again, been about 12 years lol.
728 is still our switching locomotive. We run it when we need to shuffle cars around. As for actually on the train, we will usually use one of the 3 sd40s

When does 728 run? I used to ride VRE so I would see this locomotive everyday. Might need to make a trip now knowing it still runs
The locomotive currently is our switching locomotive. We're currently using our sd40s. There are talks of possibly running 728 for a short period of time, but who knows just yet

I see you still share the same F-Units we have quite a handful of on the ADIX roster as well. Definitely nice to see these ex DRGW beauties still up in action.

I've always loved that truck like hum of the HEP on both VRE''s and MARC's GP40's
The first passenger run I've ever seen so far with now regular six axle EMD's for power. I hope by least we replace the Alco's here at Adirondack RR with an SD70 or by least some C40-8's or two one day upon my shifts running here.
Yep we enjoy the new power down here. They arent as iconic as some of our other motors, but they run well. And we enjoy the cost savings on fuel. Cheers
Cab Ride looked fun! I'm planning to take a trip there in July, hoping to either book the Vista Dome, or Cab Ride.
We are finally bringing the cab rides back so if you can snag it, i definitely reccomend it
