Amtrak Southwest Chief Chase April 2022

This month I decided to change thingts up and railfan one Amtraks long distance passenger trains. To the north is the California Zephyr and to the south is the Southwest Chief. I decided to chase train 3 (Southwest Chief Westbound). I drove 2 hours to the town of , where I would begin the chase. Before my arrival, I made a pitstop in the small town of Walsenburg. On this stop, I filmed a UP movement. I would assume this consist was interchanged with the SL&RG railroad. I then continue the drive to Trinidad. Fortunetaly for me, Amtrak 3 was running about 30 minutes behind schedule, so this allowed me to get ready. About 30 minutes pass, and the train comes into view. The chase has started! After a stop in Starkville, CO, I drive to Raton. This is where I part ways with the Chief, as everything on is 90mph running. So after I wish the train a good trip, I pack up, and head back north. What a trip.

Used to work Raton and La Junta Amtrak stations. Don't know how many times I did the same chase... lol. Great video!
