I agree. Pretty much any guitar can be made to do what you want. I like single coils for certain tones, and there are noiseless variants out there. Sometimes you might be surprised by the types of gear that people used on some of your favorite records. Layering a single coil into a riff on a mix is a cool way to get some bite and clarity.
Teles are my favorite shape, and I think even the single coil pickups can do decent thrash and chug tones. Some people say that humbuckers make a tele not a “real” tele, but I disagree.
Get a neodymium or stacked noiseless single for the bridge. Seymour Duncan and Guitar Fetish have some really good options, the Hotstack for the former, NeoVin for the latter. Sadly, if you want to get both pickups, SD don't make wide range humbuckers for the neck, so if you wanna go full package, IIRC, only GFS does.
I might look into a stacked SC. I want to keep the twang and wouldn’t mind having a quieter signal. I might keep the vintage vibe though and go for the vintage stack or something similar. The Yosemite sounds good and it a bit hotter, but not so much that it is wildly louder than the humbucker which seems to be pretty mild. I may just roll with it as is since I like the current tones. Maybe just not for super high gain.
@@jonnyhotcakes58 I think it sounds great mic’ed up. I was surprised to hear some of the clarity on playback. In the room, the low end isn’t great. But that probably would make it sit well in a recording. No need to have as much of a high pass filter on the guitars. It sounds monstrous when cranked up!
Unfortunately, an attenuator is about the only way to tame the volume on one of these and retain the greatness of the volume being high. Otherwise it's ear plugs time, baby.
@@BaritoneGoatStudio The Bugera PS1 (Jettenuator clone) is pretty good and inexpensive. It might be a tad under powered, but if your are running the amp volume under 5 it shouldn't cause any issues. A THD Hotplate is great too, much more expensive. No tonal improvements as people will claim, but it can handle a 100 watt Plexi wide open without breaking a sweat.

It is a super warm clean tone. Not crazy punchy, very vintage sounding. This guitar will likely be one you don’t see a whole lot of on the channel.
Telecasters are great for metal the brighter tone is great for fast thrash metal or low tuned stuff
Yeah, I was able to get it to trash up a bit. Still pretty noisy, but overall it gets some of that gritty pick attack more than a standard humbucker.
Sounded great, had the bugera 1964 150 watts
This was fun, the tele actually sounded great w the 1990.
It really goes well. The driven clean channel on the amp is very much like the actual Marshall’s I have played.

Filter's late 90s and early 2000s used Tekecasters .....and those were solid...... And there's always Jim Root's AHIG telecaster

Absolutely! I may invest in a decent one. I have load box with a -20db pad, but I would like to have a little more adjustability.
