@@lisanegus9113 unfortunately I no longer make videos but if you are having issues with the fabric shifting, try ironing the hem prior to coverstitching and don’t stretch it pull the fabric, let it feed in the machine naturally.

You rock
They no they have you over the barrel and they can take full advantage and so they do, criminal minded does what criminal minds do, but lets face it, this has become the standard way of doing business across most all of industry.
What is so criminal minded about a binder attachment?
Can you show how to reduce bulk on binding a fleece backed quilt?
Unfortunately no as I don’t quilt. However, traditional binding on a quilt is done with zigzag sewing not using a coverstitch machine. This I think would look more pleasing on the back side of the quilt than the stitching done by the coverstitch.
@ thank you, great info if you use this process and even tho I don’t have a cover stitch machine, the seam technique is very useful to all sewing.
I noticed your foot raise up but both your hands seemed to be on the fabric. Do you have a knee lift on your machine?
This machine does not have a knee pedal and my foot is down when I sew. The foot lift is on the right side of the machine out of the picture

Bought this machine after nearly ten years of wanting one and it has been sitting unboxed since Black Friday 2023 knowing I had to devote time to learning it. Well Miss Jeanette, I thank you for your tutelage for a VERY successful first fabric release. I'll be back for more of your CV2340 videos as I continue to learn about my "Little Brother". Fantastic, straightforward and easy to understand. Great to the point video. Thank you so very much!!!

@@karenmakinson3991 you want to pull your needle threads to the right side of the fabric and once those are on that side, the looper thread should be the only tail on the wrong side. So first gently pull the needle threads to the front.
Hi. Please Help me! Hi I have the brother ce1100prw. It keeps puckering and the machine won’t read the m foot and won’t sow. Any suggestions?
@@Dulceangel24 I’m not familiar with that machine buy it send similar to what I had. Have you checked other TH-cam videos on this particular machine? The puckering sounds like a tension our bobbin issue.
This is great… that's what I found easier as a beginner… but I use the elastic thread
That’s great that you use elastic thread but for me this worked out better because I sew in bulk and constantly winding bobbins didn’t work. Thru the years I’ve learned so many helpful tricks myself, the internet has helped us all hone what we love to do. I just recently, (like in the last year), learned a great way to get very pointed collars on dress shirts. I am amazed!!!! As the saying goes, we’re never too old to learn.
Hey, J, we miss you❤
Awwwwww, I’m still around and sewing. Funny thing is, I’m no longer sewing knits or children’s clothing. I’m sewing stretch taffeta. All the shops I was sewing for unfortunately closed. I’m now sewing equestrian show shirts. I think I pretty much covered everything I could on the Brother 2340 machine too. But, I have found new toys.
Totally new to coverstitch. I've been using a serger for many years though. My question, What are your settings for Hems? Do they differ for woven's and knits? Thank you so much!
@@remithreadz1560 you’re going to love using a coverstitch, it makes everything look so professional. The settings may vary depending on the fabric. Just make it a habit to do a sample stitch out using the fabric you’re using for the garment with. If adjustments are needed, don’t adjust everything, sometimes it only takes maybe adjusting the differential or just the looper. Some go crazy and start adjusting every dial on the machine.
@@jeanetteweger5518 Thank you, for your quick reply! Is there "starting" settings I can start with and then adjust if/as needed? I'm scared to even open the box, I've had it for 2 months 😞
@@remithreadz1560 start with the factory settings of all on 4 on the needles and looper. Change the stitch length to 4 and leave the differential at the factory setting as well. Definitely adjust your presser foot (on to of the machine) so that the top of the silver screw is 1/2” of the top of the machine. Once there leave it, that’s the sweet spot. Also get different needles, I buy mine on eBay, you want Organ brand 90/14 SUK BP, these seem to work the best. If you’re going to sew fleece, spandex, linen, French terry, buy some 80/12 sharp needles.
Your instructional techniques rule!

Yes, I did oiled it and loosened the belt a bit. Still it doesn’t work. Uhh.
@@salabova have you considered buying a new belt? You can get them thru Ken’s Sewing.
Yes. It seems like the motor is not spinning hard enough to turn the wheel. If I take the belt off, then the motor spins.
@@salabova did you oil/lubricate the belt area? Is the belt too tight?
Good afternoon, I got my sewing machine from my sister. She barely used it and it was in her closet for over 10 years. So I took it apart, oiled it and then turned it on. But it just wasn’t moving the needle. The engine runs. I opened it up again and checked the belt. Not sure what to do. It just seems like the engine is not strong enough to pull the wheel. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Is the belt in place?
Thank you, Jeanette.

Again Jeanette step by step undoing serger stitches in a short amount of time. So easy and methodical--almost relaxing. Thanks again for all of your great videos.
@@sadacpa you’re welcome, glad the video helps.
Do your stitches hold secure on that edge of the binding? I'd been securing my tails in the seam allowance to hold it all together.
Yes, I have never had one come undone and I made several hundred items using this technique.
If you turn the garment inside out you need a bit less adjusting and less chance of catching the other side under the needles 😊
It’s not close enough, I am sorry
Please explain, what is not close enough
Closer so can see more around the needle area. Found another video where I could. Thanks anyway for the video

Hi, are you planning to make any more videos on this coverstitch machine. Sadly I have bought this one 5 years ago but it keeps on staying in the box cos every time I take it out of the box get frustrated. Thank you so much for this video.
Unfortunately I will not be making anymore videos on this machine as it worked only the 1 day I made the video. It has turned into an expensive door stop. It’s a shame that Consew doesn’t even put out videos.
@@jeanetteweger5518 Oh this is a shame. I thought I’d be able to finally make a use out of it. Thank you so much for your reply.

Gracias por compartir, excelente información.
Great video. Can you use three needles and put one stitch line in the neck band itself ?
I didn’t try it that way but I don’t see why you can’t.
Thanks nice tutorial. Just bought it. Do you take de first en thirt needle?
Yes I use the wide needle, no needle in the middle.
I actually don’t have this attachment anymore because I don’t like the thickness of the binding. I sold this attachment and bought a generic on eBay called top clean bottom raw. It’s half the thickness and you do have to tape it to the machine but the results are so much better, besides the attachment being so much cheaper as well. With a top clean bottom raw, basically the top is being folded while the underside is flat and the raw edge underneath is covered by the stitches of the machine.
Thanks for this Jeanette - i have the babylock BLC2 - bought a generic 10mm binder it starts off fine but then does'nt fold and goes flat - very anoying when half way round
I’m glad the video helps. It does take a bit of practice and I don’t know if your particular machine has a designated binding foot but check to see because the Brother does only if you buy the binding attachment. It helps tremendously because on the side of the foot is a flat guide to help keep the fabric from straying.
This is so smart. I was 80% there... but would trim threads one step too early!!! Thank you for posting.
Glad the video helped.
I'm so delighted to see this! I just oiled mine yesterday, and it is already running more smoothly than it ever did. (I suspect it sat for a while before being shipped to me a few years ago.... and it has always been a bit "balky" right before it lowers the needle into the fabric.) I'm noticing that the feed dogs are now just moving up and down and not forward... any idea where I need to oil or adjust to get that resolved? I'm assuming something is just sticky with old oil.
Glad this video helps. With regards to your feed dog issue, it may seem like they go up and down but as long as the fabric feeds thru, the feed dogs are fine. They do move forward to help feed the fabric thru, it just may not be so noticeable.
Hey Jeanette! Thank you so much for your videos! I have learned so much! I have the same coverstitch machine and have an issue that I have been trying to figure out for a week! I am coverstitching stretch knit binding on knit jersey, and every time i try, the fabric gets bogged and stuck in the machine where the looper threads get all bunched up and it won't push the fabric through. Any tips on how to solve this issue?
