Thank you!! I make my videos the way if like to see them. I don't like getting to a video only to spend 30 minutes listening to someone then find out the last 10 minutes doesn't cover what I want, it's sooooo frustrating. I want to see it and get on with what I need to do!!! I absolute hate seeing videos that have echoing too, they sound like they're in a can!!! Hate, hate, hate it!!!!
Hi Janette, thanks for this, but if you say it's the settings, then you have described that all settings are at zero, how can we know what our setting should be at when sewing normally?
When I coverstitch, my settings are normally at 2 to 2.5. if you're getting tunneling then see what side it's occurring on and adjust that needle or possibly both our even your looper As I said, you will never use 0 for all your settings, at least not on the Brother 2340. It depends what machine you have, so experiment, grab a handful of scrap fabric and do sample hemmings. Hem as your suppose to by covering the raw edge with you left needle, not sewing in 2 layers then trim. I made this video to show that you can coverstitch in 1 layer without tunneling. I had to take all tensions to 0 to achieve no tunneling. Again, use your normal settings for whatever machine you have and if you get tunneling, start adjusting your settings. Both needles don't have to be set the same, nor do your needles and looper that's why I emphasize, practice, practice practice!!! Take a few minutes before you start hemming, grab scrap fabric of what you are hemming and do sample runs to see if tunneling is going to happen, don't jump into hemming the garment only to get tunneling, have to tear out and wonder why there is tunneling, set your tensions before hand.
While you’re sewing, do you change the tension to 0 only when you go over a thick layer and then change it back to normal once you’re over that thick layer or is it constantly at 0 during the whole process?
No my tension is the same throughout the garment. If you haven't set your presser foot tension do that, once you set it so it's 1/2" of the machine you never have to set it again, at least I never have and I can go thru 8 to 10 layers of fabric.
This machine does not do reverse coverstitch, the Brother 3440 and 3550 are reverse coverstitch machines. If you're looking to have what the underside looks like on the top of the garment, reverse the fabric then the straight stitches will be on the wrong side of the fabric. Does that make sense?
Thank you so much Jeanette for this clip, saved me another day of torture! on my very new Cover stitch machine. :)
So glad the video helped. You can always private me thru FB with any issues.
@@jeanetteweger5518 Thankyou.
Thank you. You are absolutely right. It's all about experimenting with the settings. I really like your simply videos that focus on one small topic.

Thank you so much for this help. I was struggling to hem some stretch lining and I used the settings you suggested. It is hemming beautifully now.
Glad it worked for you!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to show this. Appreciate it!
Thank you soooo much for doing these videos! You are really great at it!
Thank you!!!😀

What do you mean when you say 1/2 of the machine for the presser foot pressure?
@@ready4spaghetti64 I unscrew the presser foot screw on top of the machine so that the flat top is 1/2" off the top of the machine
Ohh I see, thank you so much for the help
Hi Janette, I am looking to get me one of these. Thanks for the video. My dealer don't carry this can I get it from amezon ? What's your advice
Yes you can buy online, I suggest that you Google Brother 2340CV and look for the best deal.
Thanks!
Thank you ;) have you ever done a reverse cover stitch? Can you do a video? Thanks ;)
