This Shipping Container Workshop has gotten OUT OF HAND
This video is a little update on my journey of creating my dream workshop. This all started with a shipping container on a gravel pad and a pocket full of dreams. It has been a lot of work and a lot of fun! Had to buy quite a few tools and a man-lift along the way, but I am sure they will serve me well after the project is over.

The Best Post Hole Auger Stand You Can MAKE!
มุมมอง 885หลายเดือนก่อน
I made this Land Pride PD10 auger stand out of wood a few years back and it was already getting unstable! Today I fix that by replacing the reclaimed wood with AC2/green treated lumber. I also use nails this time in conjunction with screws instead of only using screws. I use this 3 foot Auger with my sub compact Kubota BX23s tractor.

Kubota MX6000 Cold Start (2F / -16C) BETTER THAN EXPECTED!

It was cold out when I shot this video, 2 degrees! The tractor sat for about two days in a low of -10 degrees Fahrenheit before this video. I highly recommend this machine from Kubota after doing this test! Main reason I think it did so well is due to the fuel tank siting on top of the engine, but that is just a theory ;) BTW, mine is the Cab version, the open station image made a better thumbn...

    I have been driving for about 60 years and have lived in places where it gets to MINUS 40 and a foot or more of snow in a single night. I have never even heard of leaving wipers up like you show here. Your method is guaranteed to burn out the wiper motor if you have an inch of ice on the arms with the blades up.

    The important thing to know is electronic equipment can be damaged or destroyed or even explode if connected to that SHAPE of power wave. There is a story of an audio equipment repair technician friend of mine called to service an expensive studio mix board that was being modified by the studio owner. Tech asked studio owner; "Before you power it up, are you sure you know what you are doing?' Owner said "Yes". Tech: "Okay, its your board sir." Owner powers up his mix board then all 96 channels of his $million dollar SSL mix board blow up in sequence, one at a time, smoke rising over each channel one at a time. Next, tech was hired to fix it (after it stopped smoking). He made a lot of $ off that guy.

    How is the concrete ballast weight working out? Is 1,300 the right amount? Seems like most people only get to 800-1000 lbs with concrete. I will be getting an MX soon and thought 800 probably was not enough.

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is still holding up! I did put concrete sealer a few months after it was cast. Since the rear can lift over a ton, I would say the right amount would have been just below that 😉. Though... a bigger weight probably would be annoying to drive around with. The size of the one I made feels just right. I usually only have to hook up the weight when I am unloading off a flatbed. I was able to pick up a 1,500lb plow to about half height. I still felt a little light in the rear... so if you could get more weight without it being unwieldy, go for it! if you are planning on moving large round bales, 800lbs would likely be fine. To be safe, fill the tires or add wheel weights as well. Happy tractoring!

    Hey brother... please don't let any of your wiring lay against the metal of your container. Drill holes in all of your studs and pull it through them. Looking good! BTW, the way you wedged your ceiling framing to the upper container wall with the studs underneath makes your walls way stronger than you realize. Good job. I'm going to use 2x6 for my ceiling so I can install insulation and some sort of board material above.

      Its a little late for rewiring 😘 If you want ceiling insulation, consider putting something on top of the container (an insulated party deck?), the interior is only 7'8". Dropping it as much as I did with the 2x4s was almost a little too much... Leaving it open at least makes it feel bigger in there. If you bought a high cube container, you would have plenty of head room! I wish you well on your build!

      I love all the suggestions except for the rim guard and easy hitch 😉(Rim guard reduces shock absorption and cannot be removed easily, and I don't like the massive amount of play in the quick hitch connection) I finally received my wheel weights and boy what a difference! I also recently got a claw grapple which works great since in addition to logs, I also move a ton of brush that grapple has been working out great! The top link would be nice, but will have to wait until I can add another hydraulic remote. That cutting edge is something I am considering making myself, probably won't bother until I destroy the buckets edge XD Thanks for watching!

    The immediate slamming down is called returning to the park position. This is NORMAL Putting the wipers up is not something Ford would recommend or expect an owner to do. The windshield may also get damaged if your raised wipers happen to slam down due to high winds. It is a case of "Doctor, it hurts when I hit my thumb with this hammer" Thumbs were not designed to be hit with a hammer. Hammers are meant to be used to drive nails. Use a windshield cover or, better yet, keep an ice scraper in the vehicle. Since the damage has already occurred and it is winter and touch up paint may not adhere well, dab a little Vaseline on the spot until the weather warms up.

    Thanks for sharing, i’m thinking of only two by twos for framing of my new 20’ as you are correct there is no structural need but it’s simply for hanging things. I’m worried about losing so much space in the wall when the container square footage is not so significant.

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      An extra two inches on each side would be a noticeable difference. The extension of the 2x4s is why I am probably not going to enclose the walls. I am able to use the space to hold things "in the wall" sort of speak 😆 If you are going to get outlets in there, you could always put 2x4s overhead since you need more than two inches for a standard outlet box. Happy Building!

      I wish my office had a garage :( And a tarp? Now you are just pulling nonsense out of somewhere I would rather not mention.

    I heard (it might not be true but..) the older Mavericks having an adjustable grill(?) that opens and closes automatically depending on the temp. but the '23s dont have that feature. I am getting about 10% better mpg on my 23 hybrid when I block off some portion of the grill with a good ole piece of cardboard!

      My maverick is a 22 and it has the adjustable grill flaps. They are pretty sweet! The only thing I don't like is that one of the recalls had the mechanic take out two of the flaps to always have airflow over the engine in case the oil started leaking...

    Use a door edge guard on the hood lip. Problem solved.

      The force at which this hits the lip is intense! It might last a little while :)
