  • Obviously the quickest way to build a workshop is to use a shipping container! Just toss your tools up against the wall and get to work! If you have a little bit more time, consider doing what I show in this video and add in some framing. It is much easier than you might think!

Hey brother... please don't let any of your wiring lay against the metal of your container. Drill holes in all of your studs and pull it through them. Looking good! BTW, the way you wedged your ceiling framing to the upper container wall with the studs underneath makes your walls way stronger than you realize. Good job. I'm going to use 2x6 for my ceiling so I can install insulation and some sort of board material above.

Its a little late for rewiring 😘
If you want ceiling insulation, consider putting something on top of the container (an insulated party deck?), the interior is only 7'8". Dropping it as much as I did with the 2x4s was almost a little too much... Leaving it open at least makes it feel bigger in there.
If you bought a high cube container, you would have plenty of head room!
I wish you well on your build!

Thanks for sharing, i’m thinking of only two by twos for framing of my new 20’ as you are correct there is no structural need but it’s simply for hanging things. I’m worried about losing so much space in the wall when the container square footage is not so significant.

An extra two inches on each side would be a noticeable difference. The extension of the 2x4s is why I am probably not going to enclose the walls. I am able to use the space to hold things "in the wall" sort of speak 😆
If you are going to get outlets in there, you could always put 2x4s overhead since you need more than two inches for a standard outlet box.
      Happy Building!
