The Patch Panel label option is awesome, the first number is the distance between the ethernet ports on the patch panel. This option makes it very fast to label. Put in the first number and it prints six numbers out. A full size patch panel has 48 ports.
It is more durable than inkjet due to the use of thermal transfer. Which means the ink is burned into the media instead of set on top and allowed to dry.
Do you still think the upgrade is worth it? To me, I think my old one is better. Never needed pre sized labels before and now it seems like they created comparability issues
They are pretty much the same printer, the new one just has the pre-sized labels. I personally love the pre-sized for labeling small organizers. So, I believe the upgrade is worth it, though if I didn't have that use case I would say keep the old printer.
The outdoor Vinyl labels can withstand UV. For the steam... no, I am not aware of any label for this printer that can withstand steam or the autoclave process. I am sure the company makes something for that application, just not with this label maker.
The reason I am watching your video is my new M210 just arrived, and the quick start guide is less useful than 1 pre-sized piece of toilet paper. I am not about to waste some tape just to figure all the features by trial and waste. For someone never use a Brady before without a detail instruction manual is absurd. I am quite impressed with the design and build quality.
BMP21 PLUS Label Printer (11 results) The BMP®21-PLUS label printer has been directly replaced with the M210 Label Printer - the same “TOUGH on the outside, SMART on the inside" performance you are used to, along with some great new functionalities, such as on-screen material gauge and military grade shock and vibration resistance. M210 is compatible with all the same BMP21-PLUS labels, as well as additional pre-sized and continuous label options, not available for the BMP21-PLUS.😂 M210 is compatible with all the same BMP21-PLUS labels🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
M210 requires Brady cartridges & the cartridge has to be a new cartridge with the "A" printed on the cartridge. They use a small circuit board that electrically makes contact with the printer.
I was just thinking about upgrading to the newer model when i saw this review. Actually your review on the BMP 21+ convinced me to get that model when I was upgrading from my older dymo. I may have to hold off on upgrading though if the M210 is not compatible with the older cartridges cause I still have a bunch of them. Kinda weird you get the invalid cartridge message cause on the website when i was looking i recall it saying that the new model could use the older cartridges. Great review!

Can it rotate text 90 degrees - so you can get vertical text on the strip? Like this ... S A M P L E Can it print more than one X-Height (Font Size) on a strip at a time? Does it do Barcodes? or QR Codes?
Yes is can print vertical text (I think it is called banner portrait) you would need to keep hitting enter after each character. It cannot do multiple fonts on a strip, the font size is selected through a global setting (Any other Brady printer would let you do this) It can do both Barcodes and QR.
i knew nothing about these until today; this is a terrific video. thank you!
Glad I was able to help!
As an electrician's apprentice you just saved my hide! Thanks!!!
Glad to be of help. Enjoy learning your trade!

Nice, I think I will stick to labeling each individually
how durable is the print? My inkjet is smudgy unless you use best quality!
It is great
It is more durable than inkjet due to the use of thermal transfer. Which means the ink is burned into the media instead of set on top and allowed to dry.
@@IllInformedHuman thanks
Looks like they're going with the old HP inkjet chip nonsense so aftermarket labels can't be used. Great video. Thanks👍
Yea, seems like they are really cracking down on the aftermarket. They will either make a bunch more money or lose a few bucks. Only time will tell...

Can you do lower case letters with this label maker?
You can, default is upper case though.
Is the label can withstand sunlight and can be autoclave?

Glad I could be of assistance! I agree that quick start guide was more confusing than anything else.
why did they discontinue the bmp21 plus
They replaced it with this (the M210) so they could prevent the use of labels they didn't create.
@@IllInformedHuman Thanks for that. I was curious on what the real difference was. 😂
no problem, and thanks for watching!@@Sam-dc9bg
Will the new cartridges work in your old BMP21-Plus?
Just the "Continuous" ones will. Anything that advertises as "pre-sized" will not function in the old printer.

Are the cartridges RFID? Do they all have to be authentic Brady?

They just can't stay with the same design for long can they 🤣

Cartridges are extremely over priced for heat shrink tubing $80 a cartridge?!?!?! That’s ridiculous!!!
They are not priced competitively, that is for sure!
I still don't know what "presize"means
It sounds like some sort of "condition" you wouldn't want!
WARNING: These require genuine Brady labels! Returned.
Yep, they went to the dark side.
Turn the label cartridge over so I can compare the back of the new label cartridge to the old cartridge
I just snapped a few pics, go check out the community tab on my channel home page.
I have dymo xtl500, which is a piece of shit btw. Propably going to get this one, i just wished they would make keypad qwerty
You and me both! Why anyone would want an alphabet keyboard is beyond me (probably in age)
Pull out the foam on the two cartridge holder - You're welcome
That is a mod and not how the company designed their silly carrier, but a great mod non-the-less. Thank you!
If you have a ass of the old cartridges. There is a trick. Buy one new and use the chip on the old one.
As long as it's the same size, the chip gives label width info and print accordingly.
drm labels makes me not want to buy this.
😂 That is as good of a reason as any!
