  • Why did I decide to review the truck after just over 6.9K miles? The reason should be obvious... Its more than 5K and less than 8k!
    I still love the truck, but that does not stop me from griping about a few things. Will they fix them in the next few model years, probably not. So you should totally go out and get yourself one if you are fortunate enough!

    How has this worked for a farm truck and day to day driver? Or do you drive the Tesla mostly?
    I am thinking the Maverick would be a good replacement on my farm for the car and can do double duty to pickup feed and supplies and leave the full size truck parked unless I need to carry more than the Maverick could carry or I need to tow equipment, hay etc. What are your thoughts?
    I was thinking about a Tesla, but I think the Maverick would get more use for my farm setting by double duty for everything. I would love to see the PHEV version of the Maverick. Tesla hasn't broadened out into this category of the vehicle market yet and it is a missed opportunity.

      It actually has done exactly what you have described. It replaced my four door sedan. I still have an F150 when I need to haul something between 2-10K (I put in the biggest engine available). The payload of 1.5K has been really nice on the Mav (It can also tow 2K)! The only time I have to think about the payload is when I haul bagged cement.
      Whenever I make Menards or tractor supply runs, I typically just bring the maverick (two trips with the mav uses less gas than one with the F150). It is also able to more easily get behind my animal gates.
      The hybrid power-train is nice since I don't have to worry about charging. And if I am easy on the accelerator, the gasoline engine does not even turn on when I take it from the house to the pasture. Which means It will probably keep me from justifying a UTV purchase ;)

      @@IllInformedHuman The Mav is looking more and more like the all star choice for my small farm. Thank you for sharing. When I first saw the Mav I laughed at it and even made fun of it... But then my little pea brain started connecting the dots when I heard it had a 1500lbs payload and then I started thinking if what I pickup regularly at the feed store and supplies will fit then I pretty much could avoid having to fire up the 3/4 ton truck most of the time. That is when I went looking to see if anyone else has mentioned using the Mav this way and that is how I found our video. Thank you for sharing it has helped.
      I originally went the UTV route at my place, but found that I was able to get a lot of what I do done with an ATV that saved me space in the barn and uses less fuel to boot.
      Priced out the EV UTV's and the lead acid Ranger sounds like a expensive choice if you are replacing lead acid batteries every few years and the conversion kits to lithium are like $8k. They release one with the lithium batteries in it already and it is as much as buying a Maverick.
      Like you just said the Mav pretty much can do what the UTV can a far as payload. I wouldn't want to take it back in my pastures where my cattle are due to the boggy areas at different times of the year. I have almost gotten stuck with the ATV back there, but a little wisdom goes a long ways. LOL
      I will have to keep my eyes open now for the next order window for the Maverick. I understand the order window closed in 5 days this last time and now they are asking people to change their orders to get the ecoboost because most people want the hybrid. Ford has to get their supply chain under control.

      @@Longsnowsm You will be glad you kept an open mind about this thing :) I had to order about 9 months in advance to get my hybrid. I do think that Ford did not anticipate how popular the hybrid drive train would be. Hopefully they ramp that production up! I wish you many happy years with the truck if you decide to get one!

    hi just ordered a 23 hybrid xlt quick question does the truck show the hybrid battery state of charge like a Toyota hybrid thx for any info

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman  ปีที่แล้ว

      It only shows you when it charges the battery or when it uses the battery. It does not show the overall state of the battery.

      Maybe if you use armor all or some kind of interior shine product might help the scratches

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe those are for smoothy vinyl surfaces. When I look closely at the scratches, they are due to the raised "bumps" in the plastic being pushed down. Maybe if I smoothed everything first... XD
      The flat stuff is hard to scratch.

    If they can build a truck for this price point then they should be able to put this hybrid in the bronco sport for this price point

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman  ปีที่แล้ว

      This literally has the bronco sport chassis. The only reason they wouldn't, that I can think of, is marketing/branding.

      And more maintenance! I have friends in the UK that wonder why we never went full diesel, and that is what I always tell them. I am in Wisconsin and have a heck of a time keeping my Diesel tractors from gelling in the middle of winter. But I need that darn torque!
